Beautiful design and great for beginners. I have sampled almost all of the Japanese language learning apps available and this one is by far the most beautifully designed of them all. It is basically a fully formed Japanese language book on your iPhone/iPod Touch. The explanations seem a bit long winded to me but that is probably because I am at an intermediate level and have heard most of it before. For a beginner this app is a gold mine. There was a lot of attention to detail in its development in terms of both content and presentation. I gave it four stars only because it was hard to gauge what the more difficult lessons would be like. It has been mentioned that lots of other apps focus on vocab and kanji. As an intermediate learner that is exactly what I am looking for. There is still no SRS app in the store yet. Impressive This software is very well developed- Intuitive to navigate and pleasing to the eye. The lessons themselves are very clear, easy to understand, and punctuated with tapable examples to demonstrate pronunciation. I never had any interest in learning Japanese but I saw the lite version for free and gave it a shot-- now I'm going to buy the full version just because the app itself is so easy and fun to use! My only complaint is that I can't find a volume control; iPhone master volume doesn't seem to have any effect and I find it difficult to hear the examples (even with headphones) when there's too much ambient noise. (there may actually be a volume control, I just haven't found it yet).

I have played around with learning Japanese for a few years and this looks to be the best thing I have seen so far. Think of it as a regular guy's approach to understanding Japanese.
