Needs a Calibration Mode   Hi Everyone - 1. I have purchased this software.2. I think it is fun, and moderately useful. Probably fine around the house for pictures, etc.3. I think it needs a calibration mode. It is clear that my iPhone 3G accelerometer is out of "flat" by about 1.6 degrees.4. Here's how I know this:- My surface is FLAT FLAT FLAT. It is a polished granite inspection table for an incoming Quality Control department. - Put the iPhone FLAT on the table (NO carrying case or protective case or cloth, etc.)- The "bubble" is out of center by almost 1 full radius, to the UPPER LEFT QUADRANT of the display. As if the table had one leg shorter than the other three.- NOW... rotate the phone 90 degrees, while keeping the back of the phone on the granite surface. The "bubble" is still out of center, by the same amount, and STILL to the upper left quadrant of the display. As if the table suddenly had a DIFFERENT leg shorter than the other three.5. Probably you should wait for version 2, to see if they add a calibration mode. But it is really cool!

Uh, oh! My iPhone's not square!   This looks like a good application of the iPhone. Unfortunately it appears that iPhone's sensors are not reliably oriented to make this very accurate. For example, when I placed the level on my desktop along the long edge of the phone (without the buttons) it read -2.4 degrees. Rotating the phone to rest on the bottom the display read +3.6 degrees. So in my case there's an error of up to 6 degrees, which I think is a lot. I gave it two stars for the execution of the program -- which I like, but the hardware just doesn't appear to be there.

who cares if its copied   this is a nice feature to have on my phone and it is a good looking app that is only .99, it's a shame people are writing reviews for applications they don't even download.

Almost perfect   Awesome app, easily worth more than a buck, inclinometer in a little sketchy and I wish I could change the color of the water, but I just showed the owner of a pub that his pool table needed leveling and that was priceless.

A Level. It's a level.   This small application makes good on its promise: it is a level and behaves as such. Not too bad compared to its liquid-filled predecessors.

Doesn't Work - Doesn't really show level...   I don't mind pating 99-cents if it worked. But it doesn't. Place the "level" on your desk and notice it says it isn't level (such as leaning to the North.) Now, rotate the phone so that it faces 180-degrees in the other direction. Now, it says that it is leaning by the same amount to the South. It's as if the sensor is slightly non-level itself. Also, it MUST be rotated in ONLY one clockwise direction. When rotated counter-clockwise the display is upside down.Shame. It would be useful, actually. So this has all of the joy of working with a carpenter's level which is itself not level. This could have been easily solved with a simple calibration where you set the level one way, and then 180-degrees the other way, and then the software would have known the adjustment factor. (Slightly complicated match because it is working in 3D space.)But this app as it presently exists cannot be used. It's off by 2-Degrees on my phone...which is far too much to be practical even for checking things like appliances. So I wouldn't mind paying 99-cents for a repackage of an SDK application if it only worked. But it doesn't work.

I've always wanted this   This was one of the first apps that I thought "hey, it would be really cool if my phone could be a level".Interface is great, along with graphics. They have a little disclaimer though, if you hadn't noticed - for recreational use only - so they know that this will be far from accurate.I agree with the other comments - it will require a calibration feature. I am finding that landscape mode is much more accurate than portrait view. All in all it seems like the programmers know what they're doing - looking at their other apps. I'm looking forward to what else they have to offer.

Update is great   Sure the original version was just like the SDK but this new update is awesome. It gives you the ability to calibrate the level and has some other cool features. This app works great and is well worth .99¢

Hmmmm   Let me do the math.... I could spend $99 to be part of the Apple iPhone Developer Program which would allow me to compile the sample BubbleLevel code and upload it to my iPhone, or I could spend $0.99 here for the completed app..... Despite the application's obviously dubious origins, I'll choose the latter. I'd like a bubble level on my iPhone. Am I a bad person? It is, after all, a pretty good app.

Not a rip-off or a cheat...   Let's see, I can pay $99.00 to become an Apple developer and download the SDK, or I can spend $00.99 to just get the little level app I want... color me crazy, I think I'll just pay the 99 cents and get a tool which also may get updated from time to time. All the people grousing about this app should just write one themselves and offer it for free. Obviously, Apple does not have a problem with PosiMotion taking a basic example and running with it, else it would not be on iTunes. As for the app itself, it's a level, it works well, it is worth a buck.

Fantastic   This is really very cool. I may never use my level again. Certainly I'll already have my phone out unlike my level which I'd have to dig out of the toolbox.
I do agree with other comments about calibration. My iPod is right-on standing up but just a bit off on it's side.

Good concept, poor execution.   Aside from the fact that everybody is mad posimotion stole this from apple, it's still a good idea to provide an application like this to everyone else. Apple didn't think it was necessary to post it's own level in the app store?! Nonetheless, until they make this able to be calibrated, it is essentially useless. I haven't heard from anyone that their iPhone automatically knew what was perfectly level. Until they get the calibration under control, I would recommend downloading the Labryinth Lite Edition for FREE. It's actually a fun little game, but more importantly, it has a vertical and horizontal level that CAN BE CALIBRATED. Not quite as pretty as the posimotion program, but more useful currently.

It does exactly what it promises to do.   This appears to be one of those solutions in search of a need. I bought it on my first visit to the App Store, where I bought everything that looked interesting. To my surprise, I have actually used it quite a bit. While visiting Mom, I got my "honey do" list, which included putting several things up on walls. I did not have my laser level or even a bubble level with me. I suddenly remembered that I bought this app and it worked flawlessly. The side of the iPhone is just long enough to provide a reliable surface and the bubble was dead-on accurate.
