Spend Free is the free version of Spend, a simple, easy to use budget manager.
Keep track of your money with Spend, a quick and easy-to-use personal budget tracker. Create daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly budgets in categories that you define [Lite version limited to 5 weekly budgets], and enter new expenses in seconds with a few touches of your finger. Spend travels with you on your iPhone or iPod Touch and does not require internet access, so you can enter your purchases before you even leave the mall or grocery store!
Spend is perfect for people who like to budget their money but don't want to bother with using a full-blown money management application.
You can also export your data to a CSV file, which can be opened in most spreadsheet applications including Excel and Numbers.
Spend supports the display of all international currencies that the iPhone and iPod support- just make sure your Region Format is set accordingly in the Settings app.

Quit whining! For goodness sake, give the developer a break. Those of you complaining about a FREE App, which is intended to give you a chance to evaluate it for a purchase of the full version at only 99 cents!!! I'm giving this App 3 stars for the the App itself and adding 1 more for making it available to evaluate for FREE!!! I'm thrifty, this is nifty. Shop on a tight budget? This app is great! I put in a starting amount, and as I shop I input each item I place in my cart and its amount. Spend Lite keeps tabs on how much $$ I have left to spend for that trip. If you go over your budget, you can open up the list and see the cost of each item and decide which item you want to take out of your cart and subtract from your bill. VERY quick and easy to use. I also like it that I know how much $$ I spent at a given store on a given item...so, next time I may find it cheaper at a different market. I also can see using this on a vacation to keep up with your vacation budget. You can tag a certain amount of $$ on souvenirs, a certain amount of $$ on dining, etc. I'm not a gambler, but I can see somebody using this in Vegas and putting in that they only want to spend $100 gambling...they can keep track of their losses and their wins and make sure to quit while they're ahead.Thumbs up! - Spend Free - Personal Budgeting review by txartcgal
Good I really like how this app gives you at a glance what you still have available in each category! VERY cool. EVERY app could benifit from a limited free version like this to see if they want to purchase the full one!
However, I would love to be able to change how much money is in a particular category (let's say I want to change the "Gas" budget from $40 to $55 a week) without having to delete and re-make that category all over again (I don't know if that's available in the full version).

Every developer should do this! This is basically a free trial to the full app. That's awesome because I didn't have to spend any money to see if I would like it or not. To the people complaining about not being able to change to a different time period from a weekly budget- can you read? It says you can't in the description. It's decent It's not a BAD app, but it's not GREAT either. It has a lot of potential, but it needs just a little help. How about adding more budget rollovers? Some people use semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-weekly budgets. This only has daily and weekly, so it's limited in its current state. A Trial Version- Great I don't care if this application is great or terrible-it's a trial and that's great. I've contacted the developer of several other apps to ask if they would do certain things and been told they would only to find out that was not the case. For this one, you try it and if it does not, you don't buy the the app. What could be better? Almost Perfect It does everything I need. I got the trial version to see if I actually would use it and found it met all my needs. It would be nice to see a few graphical changes, maybe a chart or two to analize all the info I keep entering. Works well, but... The app is simple, intuitive and really can help tracking your expenses. But to be honest - you can achieve the same with build in Notes application. And a little math of course.

I finally know what I'm spending my money on! It's as if I've awaken from a coma of mindless spending! This app is really cool and easy to use. Once I have a full-time job and a lot more money to manage, I'll probably upgrade to the paid app. On that note, though I haven't seen the paid app, one thing I think would be really neat is a field for labeling where you made purchases. I frequently pick up hot turkey bowls from Wawa and get gas from the same stations, but I always feel obligated to type "Store name - stuff i bought" in the name field. This gives you the basic tools, and the ease of use, that just can't be matched with pen and paper.The UI: this is an EXTREMELY easy to use app. You add a category, set a dollar amount for your weekly budget. You set the start date (so let's say you set it up Sat. but you want your budget to start on Monday, you can). All you have to do then is tap on that budget to add an expense. So if your budget for "Lunch" is $40, on Monday, tap on it, and the screen lets you enter "Monday lunch - Thai with Rita", list the amount, and it deducts it automatically.Simple so you'll use it: the true genius of this is its simplicity. I have it on my first screen. So I go to the coffee shop, and instead of spending cash, losing the receipt, and not remembering where my money went, as I pick up the coffee, I tap, add the $2.30, and tah-dah.
