Moviefone has gone social! With Facebook integrated right in the Moviefone for iPhone app, you can invite friends to a movie, post comments to your wall and see how many people "like" that new movie. We've also made it easier to share movie, theater and showtimes with friends and family – email or SMS directly from the app (iOS 3.x or higher needed for e-mail and 4.x or higher for SMS sharing). Ticket purchasing is now built right into Moviefone. Just look for the red "ticket" next to the theater and purchase your tickets through movietickets.com without leaving the app.
We've kept the features you enjoyed in the previous version – Over 300,000 movies in our immense database with celebrity bios, linked filmographies, photos and news from the Moviefone Blog. You can still watch high-quality movie trailers of upcoming films, formatted for your iPhone or iPod touch.

Beaten again! The name, Moviefone suggests quality, but the name, AOL suggests out of touch, and unfortunately, that is what is delivered:It clearly is a lot of good development work, lost with a company that is just out of touch. They give you two types of sorts: Alpha and MPAA rating, but what about User ratings? If I were thinking about going to a movie, wouldn't I be interested in seeing a good movie above all else?It gives trailers, but when I select a movie from the Movies list, there should be a Trailer link there instead of having to exit the movie information, select a Trailer button, then find the movie all over again. Seems like just plain bad programming that mirrors AOL's old PC logic. I could go on, but instead, I would just ask this development team to sit down and ask themselves, since people are going ape over the iPhone's and Apple's ease of use concept, how can they get out of the PC programming box and make a really easy to use application for your cell phone. Letting users rate a movie, then showing that movie list ranked by ratings seems like a pretty basic step to me. Then, when I look at the description of a movie, that same place seems to be the most logical area to put a movie trailer. You almost have to go out of your way to think of seeing up a bunch of buttons on the bottom of the screen, one for movie information, another for trailers, another for locations...Bottom line: Get Flixter's Movies instead. (I am really sorry, guys. Clearly, you are capable of producing well written code. Just given bad directions!)

Nice, fast application This is a nice, fast little movie application that does the job and does it well. Only nit I have is that selecting a trailer from the list shout take you to a detail page with the standard synopsis, etc.. From there one can make an informed decision as to whether or not to actually spend the time loading the trailer.

Great app - fast and accurate for real movie lovers This is the fastest, most to-the-point movie app I've tried. It gave me quick answers fast on what movies are near me, what showtimes, how to get tickets, and how to get there. Also I can see the top trailers and look up movie synopsis as well as cast biographies and filmography. In general I find that their data is much more reliable than some other apps. They also include product feedback into it and are known (on the website at least, I would assume also on the iPhone) for actually responding to people who have questions or issues. A good customer service and focus is always appreciated -- well done!

nice app Fast, everything works pretty well. The celebrity page with a list of filmography is pretty cool. The only thing I would change is to have a trailer button in the detail page instead of clicking the poster.

Best This is by far the best movie app on iTunes, better than fandango and I do love fandango. Only thing missing is the ability to purchase tickets through the app. I know it says buy tickets but the buy tickets link isn't highlighted or working as of yet.... or maybe it is for specific theaters.

About Time! Now I can get up-to-date data on movies and showtimes. The other apps (I won't mention names) has incorrect data. It's a bummer when you go see Coraline in 3D and it's not in the digital theater!Remember, AOL owns both MapQuest AND Moviefone. Hope that answers your question on which maps to use.

This is the definitive movie app for the iphone This app is excellent. I can find movies and showtimes near me using GPS. I can save favorite theaters to make finding movies quicker and easier. I can get driving directions with the integrated MapQuest feature. Celebrity bios and filmographies from Moviefone's immense database make research a breeze. It also has movie trailers that are beautifully encoded for the iPhone!

The perfect little movie app for movie goers I really appreciate the clean design and smoothness of the app. I can actually see the titles etc without having to hold my iPhone up to my face. Being an amateur movie buff, I simply love the idea of being able to read up on celebrity bios and also see their filmography list just like IMDB. Very cool! I'll probably use this over Flixster since I'm experiencing lots of lag with them. Took me awhile to see the Play layer on the movie poster. Was expecting a button for trailers like Flix. Otherwise everything works pretty great. Have already told my husband to download it!

Good but not great Should use Google Maps rather than the dated MapQuest. Perhaps with iPhone 3.0 it will use the built-in Maps app. Buying tickets just opens up the Moviefone page in Safari.

It's about time!!! This was actually one of the first apps I looked for when purchasing my iPhone. I've always stuck by Moviefone to give me the most recent info since Fandango at many times disappointed me with their inability to find most of my local theaters. Also, I'm very picky with performance and you guys are running flawlessly in comparison to your "competition". Good job guys! I've removed the other junk...dragged this to my front page...and am reading up on what to watch this weekend.

very useful This is a great app and I find that I use it all the time. Whether I see one movie a week or a couple over the weekend, it's really nice to have this app at my disposal. Definitely makes my life easier. I like to use it to watch trailers all in one place, too.
