Really? I'm not the smartest guy, honest, but I knew all of these words. Every single one. I'll grant you this: I like to read and have a bigger than average vocab. But still, I thought these were all common-knowledge words. Anyway it's a free app, so it can't hurt to download. That said, Enfour makes another app, the full American Heritage Dictionary Fourth Edition, and that is probably the best dictionary available for the iPhone. If you really want to build your vocab, I suggest buying that excellent dictionary instead of getting this, and looking up words you don't know while you read. - 100 Words to Make You Sound Smart review by dahno

I don't understand the point of this... I think I'm missing somthing... I don't quite understand this app... Whats the point? If I'm making a speech then I'm suppose to randomly choose one of these words and fit it in?

Sweet I like this because whenever I make conference calls to my friends about planning a killer party I can impress them with these smart words. Everyone should have this to feel smart at times because it makes " ya feel good". I think doctors should prescribe this to patients that are feeling depressed. All in all this is a very good app that could do with some improvements as it seems lazily done. For starters, not all of the words have audio examples attached eg "Idiosyncratic." Also, $3 is way too much although it would easily be worth 2.

Surprisingly Useful I almost didn't download this just because of the name... 'sound smart'? "I think that it's better to BE smart rather than just sounding smart.", I thought.
However, if you get past the title and do decide to download it, you'll find that it's not a book about fooling people. Rather, it's more like an adult's advanced vocabulary lesson with detailed examples for the varying definitions of 100 commonly misunderstood words. Many of them I had a vague understanding of, but didn't *really* know exactly what they all meant.
I recommend giving this a shot if you'd like to refresh or expand your vocabularly. Even if you already know some of the words, you'll learn alternate definitions and uses that you weren't aware of. - 100 Words to Make You Sound Smart review by XavaX

700 word minimum This list is okay. The speech feature is nice because people often know words from reading but don't know how to pronounce them. That said I would expect a well-read 10th grader to know all of these words.
The Heritage people should just combine all their 'word books' into one book at one price. I gave three stars for the execution, layout, and idea.
