Great way to learn a great game! If you've never played the game of Go, I can't think of a better way to learn & practice. This app includes a tutorial with a few exercises to help you understand the basic concepts. However, it's real value lies in the computer opponent that you play against on a 9x9 board. It adjusts its playing strength to match your progress, so that you not only have a challenge, but fun!

A great go-playing program! This is really a great program for playing go. It plays on a small, 9x9 board, so you can play quick games when you don't have time for a full-board game. It's also quite strong, so anyone will find it challenging.If you're new to go, it's often recommended that you start by playing on a small board, and this will let you learn the basics very quickly. If you like go, or you want to learn, this is the best dollar you'll ever spend.

Terrific introduction to the game of Go This little app is perfect for beginners. It contains a great tutorial showing you how to play the game. When you're ready, fire up the computer opponent and see if you can beat it. Once you've got a hang of the game, buy the full featured SmartGo Pro version which includes thousands of problems and professional games. You won't be sorry.

Challenging game! I bought this game originally because I wanted an iPhone app to use as a board to play go against my girlfriend but unfortunately this app doesn't do that.
I stuck around to play the addictive and surprisingly clever AI. It does have a few quirks, though. First, the AI usually is clever but makes some mistakes over and over, like responding to threats with its own threat that relies on a threatened piece. Also, the game isn't always saved when I quit or the game is interrupted by a call.
The game is still easily worth the $1. Recommended.
