Singapore Mahjong tile system has 148 tiles, with 3 suits, 7 honor, 4 animal and 8 flower tiles. The scoring system is based on doubling the winnings for every point (or tai) until a maximum of 5. There are no joker tiles.
Like all other Mahjong, what tile a player discards and accepts from other players is very important. And since there are 13 tiles in a hand, Mahjong strategy can be very complex and challenging. At professional level, players even have to keep track of what tiles other players discard.
Because of the combination of the deep analysing and calculation of probability and strategy, and memorising of discarded tiles, this game is considered to be a very effective way to keep old folks from being senile and memory loss.
Young people also enjoy this game to because it is the perfect way for social gathering (with excitement).
Do support us! We will continue to update this game with even more features.

Would pay more for enhanced version   I have every Mahjong game offered on I tunes. This is the best one. I hope they come out with a more sophisticated version (SG Mahjong Premium) of it with even more stats, features and even better AI at a higher price. It's underpriced at $.99.

Game Has Potential   This has potential, but it needs more options.
1. Options to play your own music (on/off)
2. Sound effect is needed option (on/off)
3. Need to be able hear the player say what tile is discard and need the player say pong, chow, ready, and win.
Other than these fixes, this game will be perfect.

Don't listen to the negative, this game rocks!   I don't understand why this game doesn't have more reviews and why the reviews that it does have are so low. I have used SG Mahjong since the first "Lite" free version was released. Early versions did have minor bugs that didn't really affect the fun of playing but, even so, there has been a steady release of new versions and patches until, now, the game is very reliable and stable. The game has gone from the free trial version, which was clearly provided as a beta while the full game was being developed, through several versions into a fully robust game that includes multi-player games over bluetooth. I haven't tried the bluetooth because I don't know anyone that understands that Mahjong is not a tile picking solitaire game, let alone knowing someone who has an iPhone and understands that.If you do find a bug, and I doubt you will, you can post a comment on their website at gamefrontz.com and the developers will respond - a real response that has, from what I've seen on their site, included fixing bugs, and doing so quickly, in response to customer feedback. They're seem to be genuinely interested customer feedback - a rare commodity in business today.I have played over 250 games on SG Mahjong and have found the new version to be completely reliable. I've looked at every single Mahjong game available for the iPhone and there are not any that come even close in the quality of user interface and apparent ease of use to SG Mahjong. The apparent quality of the game logic has increased in each version as well. In the early versions I could win from 25 to 75 per cent of every hand and won every full round. The later versions have gotten much smarter and I'm doing good to win 25 per cent. I have to focus hard on always discarding the tile with the least value in the hand rather than on getting high point hands. I can do the high point hands but the rate of winning is much less and, in trying to win big, I am much more likely to not only lose the hands but to lose the round as well. That's sort of like real life Mahjong I assume (I have never played it other than on the computer.).I am not a huge fan of Singapore rules because of the use of flower and animal tiles. That means that the winner is much more likely to be determined by the randomness of the deal than they are from good play. I have had plenty of winning hands where I could not win because I did not have a point where the computer players have won plenty of low quality hands simply because they got an animal tile. This is a flaw (in my opinion) of Singapore rules, not SG Mahjong. But I have looked at all the other Mahjong games for iPhone and the games and user interface is so poor I'd rather stick with that one flaw in Singapore rules. It would be great if SG Mahjong created additional games or options for Japanese rule Mahjong. All in all, I highly recommend this game. It is a great way to while away the hours on a long drive (when you're not driving) or a plane ride.Remember, it's practically free anyway. Buy it and try it for yourself.

To Dilbat   The game works better when you place the iphone on a table or hold it like you would on a table. I found that when I tilted it toward me---I cannot discard as easily. And, yes, I, too, experienced discarding the wrong card.

What's with the SG rules?   It's a decent mahjong app, but I kind of wished it was based off of the HK rules which are more common. There's only a 5 point max which is a bummer. I think there's a bug with the all sequence hands because the software thinks it's zero points so it will not allow you to win. It's tough to play unless you use something like a Pogo Stylus.
