The best go-playing iPhone app   Apparently there were some poor early reviews, but updates have resolved the early issues. Gameplay is smooth and stone placement is easy. I find this app for gameplay and smartgo touch for study to be an excellent mix in becoming better at Go. The developer is helpful and responsive.

Not Recommended   There are two problems that makes this application incredibly undesireable:1. Frequently crashes - This application crashes very frequently when you try to begin a game. I've tried to vary the komi when I try to open a new game, but even when it does work I often have to bear the application crashing and having to enter the application over and over again telling me that I had a "Bad Exit". I have great difficulty trying to record personal games because for me that is where most of the crashes stem from. I have often lost my patience just trying to start a game.2. Extremely slow - Now, this is a bit more understandable because, after all, board game engines do require a lot of time when thinking out moves; HOWEVER, there are times when the computer will take upwards of ten minutes to make a move. That is just horrible. To make matters worse, you can't start a new game or undo your move during the computer's thinking time! So guess what happens if the computer is stuck on a problem? You have to set aside the iPhone and find something to occupy you while the computer thinks up a move that probably wasn't even worth half the time it took to make it. SmartGo's software is a bit slow as well, but it never drains so much time; I suspect there it contains some sort mechanism that forces a move after a certain amount of time has elapsed. So, because of this two reasons, I have deleted iGo from my iPhone and iTunes and am sticking to the SmartGo Pro app - I suggest you consider buying it if you play Go. If you can't swallow the concept of handing $13 for a single application, then you can buy SmartGo for $3. SmartGo is just the playing engine by itself without all the go records and go problems (you can find all the problems on goproblems.com anyways).
