Flight of the Amazon Queen (FOTAQ) is a graphical point-and-click adventure game. It is very similar in style to LucasArts' many popular point-and-click adventures of the 1990s, and was inspired mainly from Monkey Island and Indiana Jones.
The year is 1949 and you assume the role of Joe King, a pilot for hire who is given the job of flying Faye Russell (a famous movie star) into the Amazon jungle for a photo shoot. Of course, things never go according to plans. After an unfortunate turn of events they find themselves stranded in the heart of the Amazon jungle, where Joe will embark on a quest to rescue a kidnapped princess and in the process, discover the true sinister intentions of a suspiciously located Lederhosen company. In a rich 2D environment, Joe will cross paths with a variety of unlikely jungle inhabitants including, but not limited to, a tribe of Amazon women and 6-foot-tall pygmies.
This version of the game featuring a FULL voice-acting including the voice of the British actress Penelope Keith and Actor William Hootkins who played Red Six(Jek Porkins) in Star Wars.

AWESOME! A true, classic adventure game experience It's like classic Indiana Jones, but the hero has an east coast accent and his whip is actually a baseball bat! This game is not exactly for kids...if you're an adult, you'll notice MANY (funny) sexual innuendos, but they don't affect the gameplay or story. I played this game a long time ago on my PC (when I was a kid), and I've been waiting for the day when a game like this (and all of the other LucasArts adventure games) would be released on the iPhone. This is a pure, quality puzzle-based story and NOT easy for those people who are looking for a casual iPhone game. It's challenging and super fun. For those of you who already know what type of game this is, I don't need to sell you on this one. However, for those of you who are new to adventure games or are not familiar with this style of game-playing, I have to tell you that you are in for an adventure! It's a "talkie", so there is dialogue and the voice acting is pretty good. My only gripe is - iPhSoft needs to make the controls better! Instead of dragging the cursor, maybe we can simply touch and hit the screen. Otherwise, you'll have to get used to the controls and interface in order to enjoy the experience. I'm very familiar with the interface having played the old game, but for newcomers, I can see them getting VERY frustrated and they will probably be turned off by it before they actually get to play the game. So, please fix this so it's easier for people to navigate. It would be a shame for this game to not be played otherwise!

Finally! At long last, someone has brought a classic SCUMM based adventure game to the iphone. This is a great game and well worth the money. Hopefully this will inspire the developers and Apple to seriously consider bringing Beneath a Steel Sky to the iphone...and ever better, try to negotiate with LucasArts to release their Classic SCUMM games (Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Fate of Atlantis, etc.) as well. I know I would pay good money for a portable, full speech enabled version of these games

AWESOME!!! Wow!! What a treat for an older gamer like me. I love these older style point-and-click adventure games. You have to really think "outside of the box". Keep them coming!! I cast a vote for Gabriel Knight, Leisure Suit Larry (the first three games rock), Sherlock Holmes (Rose Tattoo), Full Throttle, or Kings Quest (V and VI were classic). These games are the best... Best ipod game ever I love adventure games and this is one of my favorite adventure games.
Im realy looking forward to the other scumm games to come out for the iphone/ipod too

Only thing id suggest is mabey getting rid of the cursor in favor of full touch controls cause dragging the cursor can get a little tedious.
Other than that this is an amazing game i cant believe its free

Great game It brings back memories of monkey island, day of the tentacle, and indiana jonea games. Its an excellent game and there are no downgrades on the scumm engine. Everything works as it would in a pc. Voice acting is great for this game and the dialogue is for real. Support these developers by buying this game. You just dont see developers making these types of games anymore. 5 stars for an excellent game.

Great! Got any more?? Took some getting used to with the controls, but I really thought this was fun. I always loved all of those point and click adventure games - Indiana Jones, Monkey Island, etc. It's not boring and redundant like those hidden object and puzzle games. It's way more interactive, which I prefer. I hope that iTunes will offer more of this type of game!!

Thanks iPhSoft! Keep these coming! First they created an iPhone port of this game, and now we have "Simon the Sorcerer" as well! I've also heard that "Beneath a Steel Sky" is also coming to us as well! with LucasArts completely remaking a higher resolution version of "Monkey Island" (with a FLAWLESS iPhone control scheme), I'm seeing a bright future for a resurgange of the commercial graphical point'n'click genre on mobiles with all new titles soon!
If you are a fan of casual pacing, deep humorous storylines, and a lot of fun (or you are just feeling nostalgic, like me!) then PLEASE support the efforts of companies like iPhSoft and LucasArts so we can demonstrate this genre can once again be worthy of their investments in new titles.
Maybe we'll see "Grim Fandango" or "Sam and Max" from LucasArts or "The Legend of Kryandia" soon from iPhSoft???? maybe they will put out a poll for thier next iPhone port?

Almost made my day, except... The odd tilt function/glitchy portrait mode let it down and need explaining in the help section. Otherwise it works well and is a great blast from the past. Now for Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Indy, and Full Throttle!
