Dragon Bane II - MythoLogical Software
An old school RPG dungeon crawl featuring 100 monsters, 150 spells, 8 character classes, hundreds of objects, and 30 levels filled with traps, puzzles, treasures, and monsters.
Just like playing on your Apple II or Commodore 64 back in 1984! Bring back the memories.
Ever since Raamtha's apprentice was elected to lead the Wizard's Council, the King's Secret Guard have noted suspicious activity in New Treleon. There are rumors that Kra'an could be revived and shadowy figures have been seen frequenting murky taverns at night. Are the townsfolk fears misplaced, or is there a nefarious scheme in the works to bring Kra'an's revenge to the kingdom?

Just what I wanted!   This game is a real dungeon crawl! It is exactly like RPG games from the late 80's and early 90's that so few have been able to emulate. If you want a really in depth and fun dungeon adventure to save the realm, this game is for you! Also, this game includes a free editor so players can make games for the engine! You can even make your own new graphics, reminds me of the bard's tale construction set or adventure creator. I'm really pumped this game came out, it is a real Role Playing party dungeon crawl, based on winning game mechanics that made bards tale a RPG icon. All you younger people that never got to play with the commodore 64 RPG games, play this game.

Classic 80's RPG   If you liked Bard's Tale, you'll love Dragon Bane II. Choose up to 5 characters from 8 fighter or mage classes to form your party. Travel through dungeons, towns, and wilderness using 6 navigation buttons. Battle increasingly difficult monsters with special weapons or powerful magic spells to collect rare treasure and find the Dragon Bane.Gameplay is just like the old Bard’s Tale, with the 4-direction view and turn-based battle system. The graphics are old school, as are the actions available to your characters. The only animation available is the opening of doors (and you can opt out of this), so expect to be reading a lot of text to follow along with the action. The sounds are limited to the opening and closing of doors and bumping into walls. The multiple saves and save-anytime abilities are probably the best features, as you can always go back and load a previous saved game if you mess up. A button on the navigation screen allows you to view an overhead map, which is incredibly helpful while finding your way through the repetitive dungeon walls, or distinguishing the shoppe from all the non-descript buildings in town.As with any classic 80’s RPG, the plot involves rescuing important people, finding rare artifacts, and challenging tough bosses to defeat an evil entity threatening to destroy the land. In order to survive, your party must fight various degrees of monsters to gain experience and raise level. Finding the best battle strategy that works for your combination of characters is essential to getting through long dungeons. The price may seem a bit high, but the app is very well written, and the hours of entertainment it provides is well worth the sticker price. This game is only recommended if you’re into old-style RPGs, as it does not have the bells and whistles of newer generation games. If you’re new to this style of gaming, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the free online manual. Also, the developers have provided an online forum for questions and discussions if you get stuck in the game.A few suggestions for the developers:1) Since item space becomes a premium halfway through the game, a place in town where the party can store a few items would be helpful. Each character has 10 spaces, but 7 are taken up by equipment. Together with the required storyline items, this leaves little space for the plentiful dungeon treasures to be had. Also, the ability to exchange items amongst characters (when everyone is full) would be nice.2) How about an identify spell for the thief? This would save time from having to go back to town before deciding which items to drop.3) May we have the ability to re-name the characters?

Oh the memories   This game is so like the old Bards Tale of my hey day, its fantastic. The gameplay is the way you remember this type of game. I do have some suggestions however. Allow me to make or create or even rename my characters :) I havent seen any dungeons yet, so I am hoping those exist as well. Overall a great title, great fun and good ole adventure the way I like it

Excellent classic   This is a treat. A long rpg with a classic treat and the developers answered a question I had regarding the game on the same day. The game itself has large areas to explore and a lot of charaters to add to your party. Great job guys.
Five stars for giving me something deeper to play on the iPhone than parlor games.

Mainlining DB2   Addicting. Challenging without being frustrating. Back to actually having to use some imagination again in RPG.

Dream come true   I've been looking for a classic RPG like bards tale for years. This is a very polished implementation that contains a great deal of playability.
My only request... Enable your user community to post their custom made campaigns, then enable us to download and play them directly from the iPhone.
Thanks for porting this to the iPhone!!!

Rpg!   I really like it, been planing all day. Complex and open ended. One of the better RPGs I've played in awhile. Items make a big difference. Good spells..I like the difficulty of this game. It seems so well polished. Even the controls(if u use those two buttons).

going old school   has never been better this classic rpg is great. graphically its pretty cool to see all the pixelated enviorments. the combat is classic turned based. the game is also pretty long and will keep you engaged for quite a while. the only big downside is that their is no cool retro music to go along with the expirence. however i highly recomend this game to any big rpg fan. o ya did i mention the save anywhere feature comes in handy when playing in short bursts.

Exactly like Bard's Tale   Unreal. Runs extremely fast and hasn't crashed on me yet! Two differences to Bard's... + you can save anywhere and anytime in multiple slots. Con... You can't get battle scrolling to go superfast...it would be nice to have that option in battles that disinterest you.
Five stars... Outstanding work!!!!!
Now if only there was an Ultima4 remake...hint...hint...hint...

The only true legacy RPG on the iPhone   In the vein of Bard's Tale, Wizardry, etc. It's a great game. I still have not beaten it playing 6 hrs a day for two weeks (tho I did start over a third(?) of the way in twice). You can have 5 in yr party of a variety of classes that you can swap out at inns when needed. So far I've counted somewhere around 15 characters you can add to yr party total (some in the town via the cemetary portal). You gain experience, level up, roam the land, each character can hold 10 items. It's a classic RPG. Straight up.
Now the nitpicking. The graphics are very much akin to circa 83 rpg graphics. But this wasn't ported with the iPhone in mind graphically. Yeah it's supposed to be pixel-ly. But the graphics are blown out a bit like looking at a jpg at 80%. Plus overall the graphics could be updated a bit and still keep the feel.
I wish the characters could carry more, maybe based on strength. 10 items doesn't go far. Once a character gets equipped in "full armor" and weapondry (helm, armor, gloves, shield, weapon, ring, necklace), that's 7 spots taken up. With the Mage class, u might minus the shield but all the staffs, books and various magical spells, maybe some fruit to replentish spell points... You end up having to drop or sell a lot of stuff after a while and running back into towns. Add to that the keys, sword parts and various things you have to carry to progress through the game... It becomes very tedious at times especially deep in a dungeon. Tho I do know that the makers are trying to keep the game true to form. But an upgrade here would be nice.
It's also be nice to have a few side quests invovled via tavern gossip etc or running across an npc out in the fields or wherever. And a potion shop... Anyway just nipicking here. Overall it's a great little game and def worth the price of admission if you're into RPGs.
