REGULAR PRICE $1.99 A Hanidoku puzzle looks like a honeycomb. It has hexagonal cells. Like in regular Sudoku, there are 9 rows, but there are no columns. Instead, there are lines that run in 60 degree angles from the horizontal rows. The ascending lines are called inclines and the descending lines declines. There are 9 of each type of line.
The picture shows an example of different lines. The lines come in different sizes (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) and run in the 3 directions shown. The biggest line, made up of 9 hexagons accommodates numbers 1-9. The shorter lines must contain consecutive numbers. For example, a line of 8 consists of number 1-8 or 2-9, a line of 5 consists of 1-5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8, or 5-9.
Each number can can only be used once in a line. However, that same number will be used in 3 lines that each run in different direction.
Optional digits can also be eliminated from a line. On a line of size 5, 6 or 7, you can find optional digits that require another optional digit to be present. For example, digit 9 requires digit 8 to be available, otherwise it cannot be used in a series. When digit 8 has no candidates left in a line, digit 9 can also be eliminated from the entire line.
NOTE:
Show incorrect is always off by default, you can turn it on under settings.
When all spaces have been inputed, you will get the congratulations screen with your time, if that does not appear then the puzzle has mistakes in it.

New variant but could be tweaked This is, as claimed, an interesting new take on traditional Sudoku. As such it's interesting and challenging in its own right, but it does have some problems. First, it lets you change the computer-generated numbers! If you accidentally highlight one of the provided numbers you can change it, and that's a real problem, those should be locked. Second, the timer does not pause when you put your device to sleep. Third, it's a real chore to remove a number you decide later is wrong, you can change it to another number but unless you did it recently and can 'undo' it, it seems impossible simply to blank it out or even to substitute notations for it. Fourth, you have to do a lot of taps to input, say, two notations in a cell. Fifth, the color of inputed (?) numbers is very light and can be hard to see, it would be nice to have that color be changeable. Sixth and finally, tilting the board 30 degrees would free up a lot of screen real estate and allow the cells to be larger, making the entire interface easier.Fortunately, every single one of the suggestions mentioned above could be easily included in an update -- nothing drastic. So, three stars for the idea but I can't go higher until at least some of the difficulties mentioned above are corrected.

Cool Sudoku-like puzzle with some polishness lacking If you find yourself spending too much time playing number games like Sudoku, Kakuro or Kenken, here’s a new puzzle for you. Rules for this game are straightforward and easy to understand, and the game has the same addictive effect as Sudoku. Gameplay is alright, but apart from that it lacks some polishness and feels rough around the edges. From example after I finished a game and click the menu for a new one, it still informed me that I had a game in process and starting a new game would end it. I clicked ‘continue’ just to see what would happen and there indeed was my finished puzzle with the timer still running. It’s little nicks like this that takes points off my enjoyment but otherwise is a cool game to add to my Sudoku collection.

Almost unplayable for me This game is not fun for me (at the moment) for one main reason: the note numbers are completely illegible. I have great eyesight and cannot make them out. Have a look at the screenshots. Can you read those little numbers?Also, this app is a bit buggy. I completed a puzzle, but nothing happened. The timer just kept on going. I had to undo my last move and then enter the number again to get the timer to stop and a confirmation that I had solved the puzzle.

Two Thumbs Up Absolutely Fantastic. Hanidoku is a marvelous twist of sudoku. It has everything you would use in solving or playing the game. I especially like the Autosave so I can grab a boba milk tea before continue :). If there is one thing I would like to add is to be able to listen to my favorite music. But hey that's not necessary since most people would like to have full concentration (quite environment) instead of listening to music. Absolutely Must Have App.

Fantastic game This is a great take on sudoku!! I cannot agree with finding fault to the notes being too small to read. I cannot imagine a way the notes could be legible. I found that having the notes always in the same place over comes that possible issue. A 3 is always in the upper right corner of the cell; a 5 is always in the center, etc.
I do have a couple of suggestions to make this game even better. 1 - charge a fee for this game! Free is good, but not necessary for this app. 2 - don't always take focus from a cell when a note or a number. If I am putting a note in a cell I'm most likely going to put more than one note. 3 - least important, allow the note option to be a toggle, so that key doesn't have to be clicked on every time.
These suggestions will not cause me to lose interest! Thank you for a great app!

Puzzling This is a really tough puzzle game that is an interesting variant on the sudoku puzzles. It is a lot of fun, but be warned, you need a lot of patients to solve the hardest levels!

If u like a challenge, you will love it In the beginning I had no clue how this game worked. For a challenge I normally refuse to play easy levels or read instructions. This game crushed my ego and had me start with the easy level and go back and forth to the instructions several times until it made sense. It took me 45 minutes to finish the first game but once I finished I regained my pride : ) This game is crazy, I like it a lot. It felt good when it took me 15 min the second time I played it. I can't imagine the hard level. I rarely write reviews but for this game I had to. TWO THUMBS UP

Great Sudoku Variant This is a great variant on Sudoku and is sure to please fans. Easily worth the money for those looking for a change. There are a few small issues technically, especially the inability to alter numbers other than the "Undo" key. Nothing that can't be fixed with an update though...highly recommended.
