The falling letter word game that has you spelling and smashing your way through the English language. As fun as it is educational, you'll place falling letters next to each other to form words. When you chain those words together, you create huge point explosions! If you've enjoyed games like WordsWorth, Text Twist Turbo, Boggle, Scrabble, Wurdle, Word Fu or Bookworm, you'll love the fast paced strategy of TextTumble.

Have a great word just out of reach? Smash your letter block down with two fingers to get rid of the letter in your way.

Tired of boring old letters? Why not spell words with pictures? Spell words with the pictoword blocks for even more points, and exercise your synonym strength.

Did you just spell a word but have no idea what it means? No problem! TextTumble keeps track of all the words you spell and allows you to easily look up their definitions. When was the last time you had this much fun with a dictionary? Submit your scores online to compete against wordsmiths from around the world!

To keep your brain extra-challenged, TextTumble requires you to spell at least 3- or 4-letter words to pass some levels. Think hard, and never give up!

TextTumble will highlight words it recognizes from our 260,000+ word dictionary. Both the SOWPODS and TWL word lists are included.

NOTE: TextTumble 1.2 is in development with additional online integration and gameplay features.

Polished and deceptively deep  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Having beta tested TextTumble, I've been impressed watching it develop toward this initial release version. The developers take feedback very seriously and are quite responsive, which is a big plus for any app. Whenever I have had a minor annoyance with the way something worked, it seems like it inevitably got addressed in the next update. The current version as of this writing is the most polished--and most fun--yet. It seems like I'm always discovering a feature I didn't know about. "You mean you can tap a pictoword to see which synonyms apply?" (Of course that is in the video on playtexttumble.com, which I just now got around to watching.) TextTumble is fun and addictive. Great job! - Version 1.0 - Jul 31, 2009 - TextTumble review by dstrus

I've always been a fan of word games, but unfortunately most of them to be fun require a second player (like Scrabble) but TextTumble brings a new dimension to word games. It's addicting like sudoku but with words! Check it out, one app you won't be disappointed in purchasing.. - Version 1.0 - Aug 2, 2009 - TextTumble review by jaylowmiller

More like 5 DIAMONDS!  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I love word games but this is on a different level. The best parts of scrabble, word scramble, and tetris all combined but more polished. Instructions are unobtrusive and informative, great for picking up this deceptively involved little game. - Version 1.0 - Aug 7, 2009 - TextTumble review by MPBowyer
Slow minded beware, wordtris in the house.  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Text Tumble is a nifty little twist on word games developed by independent game developer, Magellan Media. The GameText Tumble can be described as “wordtris”, letters descend from the top of the screen, you guide them into places where they would make words, and you attempt to make combos to take advantage of score multipliers. In addition, there is a pictogram system that throws symbols your way, which have multiple word values, which you can link with other letters. For example, a cat symbol can be cat, tiger, tom, and puss, and you can throw letters before or after, such as “atom” or “catty”. The pictogram system is a nice little addition that I enjoyed, but because of how sporadic letters can be, they are often difficult to use.The tetris-style of the game can be a blessing, but more often than not is quite the crutch. I ran into a lot of trouble forming words, more often than not getting really lucky with pictograms or random words appearing. In addition, the blocks fall quite fast right from the get-go and you will often be scrambling for positioning. On top of that, the playing area feels entirely cramped, being able to get five-ish letters per column max, you will run out of room quick. You can break tiles by swiping down with two fingers, but really you’re just running down your score multiplier and delaying the inevitable. A nice touch that I just realized was included was the dictionary in the pause function, in case you wish to look up words you have entered or wish to enter.GraphicsText Tumble doesn’t have very impressive graphics, considering it is just a word game, but they are decent. The letters are easily identifiable, the symbols are self explanatory, and the particles thrown around when you score are all passable. You will not have trouble reading anything, but there is certainly nothing impressive about the graphics.SoundThere is no soundtrack in Text Tumble, but thankfully you can listen to your iPod while you play, which is perfect for casual play. The sound effects are minimal but they do the work, rewarding sounds of tiles dropping, words clearing, and the round ending make the game feel more polished and complete.Additional CommentsText Tumble has an online leaderboard that is mostly occupied by one person, so it might be a prime time to attack that leaderboard and find your way to number one. The leaderboard appears to be proprietary to Magellan Media, so it is very simple, but it gets the job done.ConclusionText Tumble is really different from any word game I have played before, combining tetris-style block dropping and Word Scramble style word selection. A great casual game, but has plenty of shortcomings, would definitely recommend it to word lovers. - Version 1.0 - Aug 14, 2009 - TextTumble review by Jon Lim - MustTap.com
Very polished presentation, very entertaining game.  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Deep gameplay and challenging. The mechanism takes a few playthroughs to get comfortable with, but once you've settled in it's very efficient, and intuitive. Overall a great first release from a fledgling developer, and definitely worth adding to your collection. - Version 1.0 - Aug 26, 2009 - TextTumble review by cdrudy
Awesome!  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Text Tumble is a great game! BUY it! Now let me tell you why :-)Text Tumble is a relatively simplistic game, akin to a combination of tetris and boggle (although don't let that parallel fool you, it is both more challenging and dynamic than both). You spell words - swipe them, and get points. Text Tumble is a simple, fun, and casual game that you can play 2-3 minutes at a time (which is great when the wife is trying on clothing and I'm bored).Graphics wise, Text Tumble puts a good emphasis where it matters - the letters and the ability to identify words. It pays homage to the character tile games that existed before it, maintaining a very natural wood motif. Sound wise the game just feels 'right'. Sounds are crisp, informative, and rewarding - why can't everyone do this right? While the game is simple to grasp, and very casual in its nature, it is by no means 'easy'. Although that being said, turn it off easy mode the first time you play it. I find spelling words to be relatively harder than it seems, but luckily the dictionary size is HUGE, and you never run short of simple words to help buffer that fact. That being said the board can seem a bit cramped at times (but this is a pretty small screen), but this helps make the game more challenging.I love the inclusion of the dictionary feature, although I find myself rarely using it. The fun really is in playing - whereas the educational aspect is nice, but not as appealing to me.All in all, Text Tumble is a refreshingly fun and casual game that will keep you entertained in those short moments of boredom, or longer sessions. I’m definitely looking forward to version 1.1 when it is finally approved. - Version 1.0 - Sep 12, 2009 - TextTumble review by Mr Shackly
Good fix  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
The update fixed several minor annoyances. I plan on playing the game a lot more now. I realy like the online scoreboard. "Dummied", I'll work day and night to beat you, if I have to. - Version 1.1 - Sep 13, 2009 - TextTumble review by annaswims
Fantastic game  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I love all of the games listed on this app's page, and I love this game. It's harder than it sounds, but in a way that works well -- it's challenging and unique, not overly difficult or annoying. Takes a bit of getting used to, but leaves me wanting more every time. Very sharp, and more than worth the price. - Version 1.1 - Sep 15, 2009 - TextTumble review by Martin Ralya
