A Christmas Carol is the best-known story by Charles Dickens. It is also one of the most beloved and most filmed Christmas stories of all time. For its fans, this moving tale of redemption sums up the real meaning of Christmas.
The BeamItDown Books use a very different approach to reading that is absolutely ideal for the screen of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Other reader applications display the text of the book you are reading in individual pages. The number of words that can be displayed on the screen at one time is determined by the size of the font used. This forces you to choose between reading with a very small font size or using a large font and changing pages every few seconds. The problem is that reading with a very small font induces eye strain, while frequent paging disrupts concentration.
The BeamItDown iFlow Reader solves this problem by using an entirely new approach to reading. Instead of paging, the BeamItDown iFlow Reader scrolls text much like a teleprompter. Large, easy to read text scrolls by smoothly as you read. The precise scrolling speed is controlled by subtly tilting the device, which quickly becomes very intuitive and natural. You can personalize your reading experience by selecting the paper color, text color, text size, and the font that you prefer to create a truly enjoyable reading experience.

Good read   All though it doesn't have the same feel as a real book, it's free and you don't have to return it, and you can read it in the dark. It's a good app and a book anyone can read.

Some *Thumbs Up* and Some *Thumbs Down* -- you decide...   Thumbs Down: I e.mailed BeamItDown a question and received no reply. I wanted to learn how they acquired the text for their e-books because in the past I had purchased e-books elsewhere and found them to be filled with typos of the OCR character recognition type. Very disappointing when trying to immerse myself in a good read.Thumbs Up: BeamItDown offers Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" for free so I could test their reader as well as see if their text was filled with typos or not. Good news: I found only two potential typos after reading the entire book. Both typos *might* simply be an editor's stylistic decision and in any case are not exactly deal breakers. I sat with my hard copy of "A Christmas Carol" and compared both as I read. One difference emerged in the spelling of the word "Laocoön" [my hard copy] vs. "Laocooen" [BeamItDown's version]; then "Plaster" vs. "Plaister". Scanning error? Stylistic choice? Jury is still out.Thumbs Up: The ingenuity of having a scrolling marquee which allows the reader to immerse without constantly tapping, flicking, shifting something about to get to the next page. BUT…Thumbs WAY DOWN: After finishing the entire book, I had a galloping migraine that just wouldn't quit. I should have known as I typically get dizzy reading the scrolling marquee at the end of a film during the credits, so silly me. But I certainly cannot read an entire book using this software. If the developers offered the scrolling method as an option rather than as the only available method, I might be interested in purchasing some of their other collections. There are several that interest me. - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by MSC1965
Great Book, Great Software   This reader is special. It takes advantage of the unique features of the iPhone to provide a reading experience that can only be had on the iPhone. Well done! This is the best way to read novels on our iPhone, imho. - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by Jane Austen Fan
good idea, but try giving other control styles.   It works well, beam speed a little fast, and I think shifting the Iphone is a little odd, especially while trying to read. If you could have something like a test page, where we could read example text, set our speed, more by tapping, or sliding a button, then move on to the regular text. - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by portal_engineer
Excelent reader   I'm a big iPhone reader, and I really liked this reader. It makes things simple.
I think the scrolling speed is still a little fast, especially with the unusual words of the classics.
Also, when you pause it, the whole menu appears, and that change is unconfortable when you're reading.
Still, best reader I've tried, going to buy other titles soon - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by Princesa Lu
Just a little too fast but nice!   Nice idea. Just one thing. I think the slowest scroll speed is too fast. I like to take my time and absorb and savor the words. Any way to make the scroll speed user adjustable? - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by Q.u.i.x.o.t.i.c
Ehhhh...   It would be better if you could hold the iphon flat and the screen would move slower. Other than that, nice app. - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by Cburnett837
Great Download   This is a great contribution to the app store. First of all, this book would cost more at a book store because this one is free!! Second of all, this isnt a crappy story, and third of all, you dont even have to carry a book around! Theres no page turning and ipod touch is so small! - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by matt6786

Pretty good   I was amaEd at how good this was, considering hownits free. The only thing that bothers me is that the slightest tilt makes the text go by too fast. - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens review by the dark avenger lol
