Smart but not sexy  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I'm a long time PEPID user on my Palm Treo. I use this app every shift I work as an emergency physician. The content is unrivaled. To say that I've been eagerly awaiting this release is an understatement. Now that it (the subscription based Platinum version, not the free Elements) is running on my iPhone, I can say that the content is there, it is usable, fast and still very useful. It is also, unfortunately, a first release for this platform with the snags that come along with it. The majority of illustrations in the app don't load, I just get a blank page. (Update, this was a problem with my installation. I reinstalled after instructions from the helpful and prompt technical support and it works as advertised). The interface isn't up to the standards of other iPhone applications or of PEPID on other platforms. I'm also disappointed about the 'upgrade' process for existing subscribers of the product on other platforms. While I'm sure some with moan about the annual subscription price, I'd argue that you get what you pay for. This is a high quality decision support tool for emergency physicians. It is worth the price. Especially since so many of us are paying for it with CME money. My bottom line? Same great content in a less than fulfilling interface. - Version 2.5.00 - Nov 23, 2009 - PEPID review by Jeff698
Moving in the right direction  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Let me say that adding drug dosing is a huge step in the right direction, however I still noticed the calculators are web based which I find strange. The ability to do quick drug calculations and medical calculations are what set pepid apart from the rest. I hope the engineers at pepid are working on this but while they do i will continue to use my palm t/x with pepid. I wouldn't purchase this version if you are already using palm or windows as it still falls behind the palm interface. - Version 2.5.00 - Nov 11, 2009 - PEPID review by 1fitdoc

Supporting Obamas spending policy by paying this subscription rates? ER Pepid iPhone version is not only very expensive is also very slow, inteface is terrible, useless on the busy ER setting, the stimulus package effect on the economy, will be faster. You can save you money or support Obama and Keep spending.... - Version 1.0.6 - May 3, 2009 - PEPID review by Guto1

Still useless without active wifi or 3G connection  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Pepid's website shows that the newest version STILL won't work without a wifi or 3G connection. All those nifty calculators that made the original product a powerhouse are fully dependent on active internet connection. This makes the product useless in certain areas of most hospitals (e.g. CT, trauma bay, pediatrics at my institution) or the hospital wifi crashes. Or you're in the Pacu. Or you're in some remote clinic that's barely got running water, much less wifi. Etc.The general response from the company (and a few people here) is "wifi is the WAVE OF THE FUTURE! Encourage your hospital administrators to improve your hospital's infrastructure! Stop asking us to improve our product!" While the wave of the future sounds very nice, I am stuck here caring for patients in the present, and Pepid just isn't getting the job done. I need something that works all the time. I am too busy caring for patients to bother with trying to accommodate the inept decision of some IT guy who can't bear to admit that maybe they need to start over. Sick to the Palm version. It's cheaper and it works better. - Version 1.0.5 - Apr 27, 2009 - PEPID review by disappointed ER doc

The app is sluggish at best and crashes intermittently.user interface is not very pleasing and transition between views leaves much to be desired. - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 11, 2009 - PEPID review by PDA Fan
Sluggish  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
This app is so expensive on the iPhone with the same content as that of the Palm PDAversion but not nearly as quick or stable. Frankly without a significant upgrade I cannot see myself changing devices from palm to iPhone. I love the content of PEPID but this platform is horrific. - Version 1.0.5 - Mar 15, 2009 - PEPID review by 1fitdoc
Clearly dissapointed. Too slow.   Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
As an ER doc, I have been using pepid for over 4 years on my palm and love it. I have been eagerly anticipating the release of pepid for the iPhone so that I could do away with my palm but I am sorely dissapointed. It is FAR too slow to be usable in the ER. This is perhaps a multi-dimentional problem, as I believe the processor speed of the iPhone is certainly is big part to blame, but nevertheless, I cannot use this program on my iphone. I certainly applaud the authors of pepid effort to make a program for the iPhone, but it is by no means a replacement for my palm version. I eagerly await a faster version alongside a faster iPhone. - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 19, 2009 - PEPID review by ERDocNLA
What have they been doing this whole time?  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
For the amount of time it took them to release this, it is very unpolished. I love the information that PEPID brings to the table, but the painful way they have made to access will make this a pass for now. To go back and forth from great iphone menus to their arcaic icons, arrggg. Notice how none of the screen images, show how the content really looks. Keep trying guys, 'cause this is horrible. - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 14, 2009 - PEPID review by Disappointed PEPID fan
Very poor, confusing user interface  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I wanted to get some basic information and saw pepid available. I had used this many years ago and not found that great. Thoought I'd check what they have. It just feels like it goes round and round as I try to use it for information. Also got some error when I tried to see a topic and moved to conversion calculator - NSURLErrorDomain error -999. What gives? I don't think this is a mature product both in content or use. I don't think I can use it. Anyone else feels the same? - Version 1.0.4 - Mar 27, 2009 - PEPID review by snsMD
ER MD  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Pepid has, in my opinion, been the gold standard in PDA reference software. This version is excellent. Only suggestion for improvement: when prompted to enter dosing info, the program should default to a numeroc keyboard. - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 11, 2009 - PEPID review by SLO MD
Rock on PEPID!!  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I think the PEPID is great!! Easy to use, fast, stable, and in general I find it the best source of medical reference around. Not sure why anyone would rate it below 4 stars. Keep up the good fight, PEPID. - Version 1.0.4 - Mar 24, 2009 - PEPID review by The Doc is in the house
Love it...  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I've been a long time PEPID user like many others who posted here. It's been a long wait but finally PEPID is on my iPhone! Yes, to get some of the data like drug interactions an internet connection is required, but I don't mind that, because the hospital I work at is wired from roof to basement. WI-FI is nearly everywhere. So, stop complaining people! This is the future of mobile computing. Applications are connected to the web to get you latest and greatest information and this is great! I know that my drug interactions are always up to date, because they are fetched directly from PEPID's servers. If you do want to complain, then complain to your hospital administration for not properly wiring your hospital.Quality of PEPID's information is unraveled, and is well worth these few limitations that many complain about. For me it is working out splendidly! Great job PEPID! - Version 1.0.5 - Mar 21, 2009 - PEPID review by CityDoc
Useless without a wifi connection.  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
I periodically check to see if Pepid has fixed their iPhone version, but no luck.ALL the calculators (dosing, metabolic) and the drugs interactions checker still require a high-speed web connection to work. What this means is that if you happen to be in a part of the hospital without wifi or 3G, the product is USELESS. For me, that's our pediatric ER (where the dosing calculators are used the most), shielded areas like CT and the trauma bay (where I calculate drips all the time). It is sad to say but my ancient Palm runs Pepid much, much better than the iPhone version. And...it works everywhere, all the time, not just in a trendy coffee shop with a strong wifi connection.I am so deeply disappointed that Pepid has made this terrible, terrible mistake. The product is a complete dud with web-dependent content, and it didn't have to be that way. Someone sold them a bill of goods on "web connectivity" and I guess they never tested the thing in a real hospital. Don't buy this product - it's just such a waste of money the way it is. It's really a pity, because it could have been great. - Version 1.0.5 - Apr 9, 2009 - PEPID review by disappointed ER doc

$500 per year subcription?  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Please support Obamas spending policy by paying this subscription rates, by the way the ER Pepid iPhone version is as fast as the economic recovery after the stimulus package. Keep spending.... - Version 1.0.4 - Mar 23, 2009 - PEPID review by Guto1
Content still great, but this is expensive, buggy beta software  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
PEPID is the best overall emergency medicine reference -- disease and treatment information, drug reference, calculators, etc. I've been a satisfied user on the Palm for 7+ years, despite the sizable annual cost.I've been eager enough for this iPhone version that I'm using it, bugs and all. But the application is slow to load and search, and crashes often. It's slower to use on my iPhone than my 5 year old Palm. Other weird bugs abound. If I was a new customer (who didn't know how well PEPID can work) and was charged over $200 a year for this I'd be furious.PEPID felt so much pressure to (finally!) get an iPhone version out they stopped beta testing it and just released the product. It shows. This is beta software at premium prices. I would be very careful about paying for this unless you understand it's still very much a work in progress. - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 23, 2009 - PEPID review by C T Dub

a bit cumbersome  Iphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application StarIphone Application Star
Just getting use to this app as I'm a long time epocrates user. Overall I prefer epocrates but I think pepid has better medical info for diseases. I don't like that the navigation bar doesn't show up right away but only after you look up a specific topic. If you want to get to the critical care section there's no way to get there instantly. Although there are many more tables than epocrates I don't use 99% of them anyway. The one I use all the time on epocrates for dealing with elevated INR I can't find on pepid. Epocrates has a good infectious disease app lacking as far as I can tell on pepid. Overall I would like to keep using pepid for disease and treatment. I think the content is there but I think it could be better organized and more user friendly. I realize this is the first release for iphone. Hopefully they will improve this as I think with a better interface and organization this app could shine. - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 13, 2009 - PEPID review by pitmd
