Rev - DevToaster
Rev is THE premier iOS application for auto enthusiasts. Rev monitors, records, and displays real-time data by interacting with your car's onboard diagnostic system. It can also check and reset "Check Engine" lights, trouble codes, and much more! DO NOT BUY THIS APP UNTIL YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
1. You *MUST* purchase an extra hardware device for Rev to work. The following devices are compatible:
- Kiwi Wifi, PLX Devices (www.plxdevices.com)
- ElmCanII-WLAN, CarCode-Muller (www.obd-2.net)
- OBDKey WLAN, KBM Systems (www.kbmsystems.net)
2. DevToaster *CANNOT* issue software refunds.
3. Before purchasing Rev, download Rev Lite from the App Store, to check compatibility with your car and with your OBD-II device. Rev Lite is a free, but limited, version of Rev which will show you which OBD-II metrics are available. Unfortunately, we are not able to tell you which metrics are available for your specific vehicle.
4. Further information, including the FAQ and the Rev manual, is available at: http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/
----------
Rev 2.0 has a great suite of features:
- Display up to 5 metrics with Rev's customizable, drag-and-drop interface.
- Store details about your vehicle so Rev can accurately calculate horsepower and other metrics.
- Give any metric a redline value.
- Show values using metric or imperial units.
- Automatically adjust the minimum and maximum value displayed on a gauge.
- Check, translate, and reset engine trouble codes.
- Log data based on time or GPS coordinates.
- Record, display, and chart your cornering, braking, and acceleration G-forces.
- Help perfect your cornering habits by using the device's GPS to learn about your acceleration and braking using the GPS Track.
- Save time and money and check your emissions before going to the shop! Readiness monitors include 11 vehicle tests that your vehicle must have "ready" before it can pass emissions tests in most states. Rev will tell you which tests are supported for your vehicle, and whether or not they are ready. Some great info can be found here: http://www.wivip.com/monitor052108.pdf
- Use Rev to connect to PLX's extensible iMFD sensor system.
- Monitor the following metrics (availability depends on the vehicle itself):
Wheel Horsepower
Torque
Vehicle Speed
RPM
Fuel Consumption (may be inaccurate or unavailable on some diesel vehicles)
Boost Pressure (may be inaccurate on piggyback turbo systems or unavailable on some VW cars that advertise boost exclusively on proprietary protocols)
Engine Coolant Temp
Fuel Pressure
Calculated Engine Load
Throttle Position
Intake Manifold Pressure
Air Intake Temp
Timing Advance
Mass Air Flow
Fuel Level
Barometric Pressure
EVAP System Vapor Pressure
Fuel Trim

Awesome app.   Works great. Flashes codes. Used it to verify a stock air intake actualy ran cooler than an aftermarket cold air intake. I accidentaly left it connected to my OBD port over the weekend and my car started ok. Works great for track day. An instructor can see throtle position and tell you when you should be at 100%. I saw my timing change when I ran racing fuel. You can find the sweet spot in your powerband for launches by comparing g forces at different rpm. It's also great for back yard mechanics helping pass emissions tests. Suggestions, offer a HUD mode to reverse the images so you can use it as a heads up display at night. Truly awesome tool for the techie gear head.
New version ROCKS! Looks so good I can't keep my eyes on the road. Great work!

rev   My wish list.i wish that Rev invinters and software developers can fix the lag it has.and i wish that maby a new faster software can be developed for the wifi maybe thats where the conection is getting its delay from??? i dont knowok last wish is that there would be more opptions on there like being able to monitor 3 gauges at a time, not in a anolog state but in a diolog state that would be great.......o yah one more thing every now and then the idle gets up to 1500 rpm and stayes while the obd wifi is pluged in the car when i turn car off then on it drops down to normal opporating rpm around 650 to 820i must say thought that this is a freaking badass idea that helped me out alot so thanks to the developers team

WOW!   I normally right a long list I pros and cons for my reviews but since this has no cons (except the price of the hardware, the software is well worth asking price!) I just got my Kiwi wifi module and was able to see my engine codes and clear them as I might have fixed the problem. I payed for a smog two weeks ago and failed- my check engine light was burnt out and I had an EVAP leak - money down the drain and I would have to pay or another smog but now I will know if I will pass before I go!!
I have also volunteered to offer free chen engine code diognostics to all my friends that help me and have been able to help them diognos there problems. If check engine / OBD codes was all I used this for I would be satisfied but it offers even note than that! I can see live stats of my vehicle as I am driving! I off-road so I love to be able to see how my engine is performing and all the sensor readings so when re engine light comes on, and that happens alot in my Jeep I can make sure it isn't a vital issue before proceeding.
I abosolutly love this app!!
The obly thing that could make it better is being able to connect to the local DMV to submit smog information at renewal time!! But that would get complicated!

Awesome!   Most reviewers have already said it.
It is a brilliant piece of software for anyone who is a gear head. If you go racing, it is simply very cool to record data and essentially have your own mini telemetry. I love it.

It's finally here, and it's everything you'd expect   I was one of the first to order the ElmCan Wi-Fi adapter, and I've been eagerly awaiting the release of the full app. Straight off, it works and looks great. Mount your iPhone to your dash and think of it as an extra gauge that you can configure and log data with. Or think of it as a shop tool for when your car throws an engine code or something isn't working just right. The GPS mapping feature color-codes your path to show your acceleration, which will be incredibly handy for analyzing driving technique on the track.Great job guys!

great tool for the casual user or enthusiast   couldnt read the 1996 maxima, but no problems with a 1999 honda accord, a 2003 acura, and read codes fine on a 2000 v40 volvo wagon, finding a 4th error upon second check! firmware update 1st thing!! overall a great and noble effort and i look forward to the refinement of the software. finally, true practical use for my ipod touch.

Great app!   I love this app. Very useful to monitor my tuned car without having to lug my laptop around in my car... many engine performance parameters are right there at my fingertips. I can compare performance mods results to stock baseline parameters. The wireless feature works great. Seems like a solid unit. (I have the ELM CAN unit). In addition, the engine diagnostics code reader is an awesome tool to have in case you car throws a CEL and leaves you wondering if it's something serious or not. No more trips to Autozone to have the codes read. So far, I've tracked down a MAF sensor code. (I drive a 2008 Volvo, btw)The recorded data can be sent to your email for creating charts, etcMost importantly, Rev comes with excellent customer support. The developers were very patient and helpful in working me through a snag in my app. It's a cool iphone app. Highly recommend it!

At long last   Finally arrived in full version form. An update to the firmware is a must otherwise it's laggy. This app delivers as promised. Well worth the wait. I look forward to the evolution of the Rev. Nice work guys!

Just as expected....   With the exception of it losing the connection for breif moments and sometimes the needle gauge will be jittery and not butter-smooth, it's flawless. I'm using the PLX Kiwi WiFi unit, so it would either be that unit or the iPhone itself, not the REV software.
Even with those minor glitches I would still consider it to be a great product value for what you are getting. ANY other scan tool device will cost you more than REV and a WiFi interface, so it can't be beat.
I've got a 2009 Toyota Yaris LB which doesn't come with a tach unless you get the 'S' Model which doesn't look so hot for my taste and cost over $1700, so this gives me the tach option that I felt that I was missing, and for a fair price plus does much more as well.

It would be great if you can save a profile with a picture with your car and genaral stats like 0-60, make and model, wieght, h.p., mods ect. And reverse the images so you can use it as a heads up display at night. Truly awesome tool for the techie gear head.

Has great potential but has connection problems with the Hardware   Rev will not stay connected long enough to the Elm Can to monitor anything or update it the elm can because the connection keeps timing out.
