Ever wished you could swing your iPhone around like a lightsaber? Well now you can, with Lightsaber Unleashed!
One of the App Stores most popular apps, PhoneSaber, returns in a new and improved form - Lightsaber Unleashed.
As you swing your phone, a range of Lightsaber™ sound effects will be emitted from your phone's speaker (or connected audio output). Not only that, but you can also draw and withdraw your Lightsaber.
You can also choose your Force Unleashed character of choice, as well as playing some duelling music to get you in the mood!
Last but not least, you can enter a full screen Lightsaber mode, to enhance your lightsaber experience!
1st gen iPod Touch Users Note: Most of the fun from this app comes from the external speaker, but feel free to download and use with any audio output anyway. 2008 Lucasfilm Ltd.

From an App with Heart to a Shoddy Advertisement   I liked the original "PhoneSaber" better as it had heart, whereas this one is an advertisement. Too bad the developer caved-in to Lucasfilm...

Lost It's Personality   I really wish Lucas hadn't made the dev change the awesome lightsaber app into an advertisement for The Force Unleashed. The original was MUCH better.

2.0 is just an ad for a videogame   Still free and you get the sound. Cannot choose colors of the saber anymore. But, this is just an ad for a Star Wars videogame.

Marketing destroys a product, yet again.   PhoneSaber was great, but this licensed version should NOT have replaced the previous application. The other app could have been pulled, but to call this an "update" is absurd. What it is is a mucky, busy, advertising laden annoyance. What it used to be was a clean and mean, logo free example of the iPhone's motion technology.

You Broke It   The old version was so much better. The accelerometer was so much more in tune with the sounds. This version seems choppy and random. There is star wars marketing spam along with a confusing interface with less functionality. Thanks for the update, but if you don't mind I'm deleting this update and reloading the old version. This is why we can't have nice things.

Sellout   The old one was fine the way it was and you had to turn it into an advertisement. Sellouts like you dissapoint me. Im deleting this app because of this.

Great App! Too bad Lucasarts turned it into an advertisement...   I love this app, but now its just an obnoxious advertisement for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Was this necessary? No. Lucasarts could have just branded with generic Star Wars and it would have been fine.

Liked Older Version Better   More is not better. I had the old PhoneSaber app and downloaded the update. Although the new version gives you some characters and music, I missed the simple interface of the older version. You only have lightsabers of red, blue, and green, and you select them by picking a character who is, I guess, part of the Unleashed game. Sounds appear to the same. I grabbed the older version out of the trash and reinstalled it. However, if you did not have a chance to get the old version, or you would like some SW music, the app is perfectly fine.

PhoneSaber was better   I loved this app when it was phonesaber. Now with the ad?! Come on! Who wants an ad on their phone! Otherwise the new interface and music is great.

The update is HORRIBLE!!! And it replaces the old version. =(   When PhoneSaber was an unsanctioned SW-knockoff, the developer made an amazing product--fun, and very fan-focused. I rated it 5 stars. When it was taken down, the promise of an "official" PhoneSaber was really awesome. The final result is a really gaudy advertisement of an over priced iPhone video game. The only upsides are music and multiple light saber hilts, but at the cost of the amazingly awesome purple and yellow light saber blades. There are a few easter eggs, like a poor imitation of James Earl Jones saying lines from the video game when you press on flashing stars, but it's bloat, not adding to the value of the original product. This would be like iPhone 2.0 adding copy paste, but taking away the Calendar program, and iPod program, and making all the other icons differently colored Apple Logos that would spin and twist when you click them, and show a huge sign that said "BUY A MAC!" for three seconds every time you went back to the home screen.Worst of all, if you accidently download it AFTER getting the old one, it will replace the old (actually fun) version. To get the old version back, right click (control-click on a Mac) on the "Lightsaber Unleashed" icon in your iTunes Library, and select Show File in Finder (or Explorer on windows). It will show you multiple copies. You can try dragging the lower numbered version of the file back into iTunes, where it will warn you about replacing the newer (poorly done) version with the old.Hope TheMacBox got a dollar for every download from LucasArts.

I worry about swinging my phone around.   It's a lot of fun for a simple app. It is definitely better on the iPhone than on the Mac. Though I worry about getting too into it and accidentally throwing my phone.

Old version is better   Look I understand that Lucas Arts is trying to protect and promote their brand, but here they have turned a great simple app into a lame one. The old version had a simple user interface, with color and saber options all available on one screen with one tap. Now you have to jump through hoops just to get to fewer options (like only 2 color options). The music option isn't great either. It's only one track and doesn't match the charicter chosen. When I choose Vader why don't I hear his theme music? Now that would be cool. Also the music track steps all over the saber effects and makes them difficult to hear.
Lucas had a great chance to plus an allready free app that would build intrest in their paid app and promote their brand. Saddly they droped the ball big time.
Here's hopping that an update will take us back to a simpler easier to use app, but that still allows Lucas to promote their brand.

Yuck   The sabre does not function as well as before. The faces are useless. The ad is annoying. The only slight improvement was the music, but there needs to be different music for each character.
