Not comparable with most hardware I just bought a brand new griffin itrip smartscan for 90 bucks, and this isn't comparable. They could easily make it comparable but they just want you to buy their new products.

Works fine for me. I haven't had any of the problems that some the other people here have had. Signal strength is great, and love the app. I think it may be your old busted radio, not the transmitter or the app.

Doesn't help low quality audio iTrip makes user friendly transmitters and this app makes the interface even more nice. Unfortunantly, the power of the transmitter is so weak that even when its placed near my car's antenna and all empty frequencies have been tried, the signal is only marginally acceptable. I was hoping that this app might do something to fix the super weak signal. My kids walkie talkies transmit down the block, why can't they make one of these that will send a good signal for more than 3 feet?! These iTrip app used with the device and iphone would be absolutely awesome if they just upped the power of the transmitter.

Signal Still To Weak Bought the transmitter b/c of this awesome interface and it is nice, but I was hoping that there would be a way to boost the power of the transmitter.
Even on a clear channel, the device only sends a snowy weak signal to any car radio, even in brand new rental cars
Maybe add a way to make the thing more powerful and this would be a fabulous device/iPhone app combination.

Work in progress Nice idea. Poor execution. Need better power to take over the chosen frequency. Poor sound quality; and that is when it works. Need lock on attachment so it does not come loose. Probably works best in rural areas--or maybe I just have a crappy radio.

Nice idea, poor execution. I agree with the other posters here.
The device looks awesome with it's dot matrix LCD display, but either due to lack of power or a poor antenna design the quality of the audio is very inconsistent and with a lot of noise.
FCC limits the max power of devices like this but this is unusable, even on my Lexus's Nakamichi system with a telescopic antenna in line of sight of this device about 3 feet away the noise of the audio was high.
It needs a better antenna and if not already done, it needs to max the power output to max allowed by the FCC.
To be honest I don't know how corporate America could sell products that clearly do not work.

As advertised! Apps with great, with limitations, it works as advertised.
Other reviewers that rated this app so low obviously does not have even basic knowledge in hardware.
To simply put it: buy new hardware, older iTrips do not work. And to the guy/girl that said make a app to transmit audio, it's IMPOSSIBLE with current iPhone hardware. Stop being so dumb.

NOTHING! iTrip- what a disappointment. Not even worth the fuel to drive back to the store for a refund! It's obvious from the general tone of the reviews that iTrip is not ready for primetime!

Not backward compatible at all I would love to rate this, but I have a Griffen Road Trip, essentially the same FM transmitter as the iTrip but it plugs into the cigarette lighter outlett and this app isn't backward compatible. If they update this I may give it another try, because it looks like it would make using the thing a lot easier. I really like my RoadTrip, other than here in L.A. there aren't any blocks of three open FM frequencies to work with. In fact there are only a few open FM freqs at all. But out on the open road this thing works great. But because of where my cigarette lighter outlet is in my car (2003 Dodge Durango) it makes it hard to see the small screen. I had hoped that this app would work with my geat but no such luck. So I will uninstall this app and wait for it to be updated.
