Does not support import, uses global locale setting for formats, interface needs work Switched to Accufuel for three reasons:1. Data is only on an export basis, cannot import. AccuFuel allows you to import and export easily with CSV.2. The Global Locale setting for currency, date, time, Liters/Gallons, etc. makes the app impossible to use if traveling or living abroad. For example, can ONLY use dollars if set to U.S., can ONLY use POUNDS if set to English (UK). I use English (UK) so that the decimals, currencies and european characters will display properly, unfortunately I would then be forced to use POUNDS also. Makes no sense. I needed EUROS, English (UK) and gallons - thsi combo is not possible.3. Interface is clunky, slow.4. E-mailed tech support for feature requests indicated above, recieved a message "we will not support those in the future".One Pro however: There is quite a bit of detail possible, with notes, octanes, etc. However these pale in importance compared to the need for import/export.** The other 4 apps in this fuel journaling category offer more and cost less (between .99 and 1.99). **

The best automotive/mileage tracking app out. Period. (even better now with the reduced price.) My only complaint with this app is that I paid $4.99(worth every penny) and it's now $.99. I have multiple paper car mileage and maintenance records and tried a few software ones as well and NOTHING has every matched the ease of use and portablility of this app. Its main selling points are its gas usage tracking abilities which are fantastic with the options to customize what parameters you want to monitor. But it also keeps track of all maintenance and repairs with alarms/notices of when you need to perform them. i.e. Once you enter in your first oil change it will remind/notify you when you are within a established period of time of milage of the next time you need to get another oil change. If you set up the reminders for oil changes at 3000 miles it will tell you when you areclose to that mileage. It will make car care so much easier for you. Important, go to the website and scour the manual about, not that the app is hard to use, but once you understand the details and tweak it to your preferences it will become much more useful. And at less than a dollar menu item at your local fast food joint how can you lose?

It's my only MUST HAVE app! This app is great. Obviously it tracks individual, as well as lifelong fuel mileage well. If your detail oriented about your fuel, there are fields to enter where you purchased it, what your tire pressure was, how much per gal it cost, etc. Also, it's great for service reminders. Just annotate when you perform maintenance and you can adjust the intervals so it will tell you when things are due. Great app, and the developer is friendly to answer individual questions. 2 thumbs up. I plan on using this program for a long time!

Awesome full featured app - intuitive and simple data entry Before switching to the iPhone, I used a Palm Treo 755p. One of my most-used apps was Auto Slate which logged fuel fill-ups, maintenance, repairs, trips and accidents. Of these features, Fuel and maintenance was by far, the most used. It was difficult finding a suitable replacement, but this app far surpasses the feature set of my old Palm app, while making data entry easier and more intuitive and providing much more useful reporting.Though Gas Cubby is my only app from this developer, I've visited their website; It looks like the App Cubby apps are all very well thought out and comprehensive information management solutions. As an end user with over 140 apps downloaded from the App Store (mostly paid, but some free), I can honestly say the quality of both the Gas Cubby app, the company's website and their customer support are of a much higher caliber than most; I emailed the developer with a suggestion and received a reply within hours.It's great that there are video tutorials on the best way to use their apps on the website. Although the videos I'd like to see for this app are not yet posted, I watched some of the others. I almost wish I had a job that requires me to travel just so I can use the Trip Cubby app! Reviewed on Nov 17, 2008 - Recommended. Easy to use, useful and stable! I have been using Gas Cubby for several days and have manually entered about 2 years worth of gas stops. I have 5 years worth of records in a spreadsheet and I started at the most recent ones and worked my way back. As part of this data entry process, I made several mistakes including skipping records and entering the wrong number (mostly missing the decimal point). Scanning the data, it's hard to find these bad spots in the data. That's where having a graph works out great. The bad spots in the data were very easy to find in the graph as they created huge spikes and dips in the chart. Easy to find and easy to fix.I played around with the preferences and settings, but have mostly returned them to their defaults. I really appreciate the developer giving the option of keypad or spin-wheel for mileage data entry. The spin wheels are neat in "gee-whiz" kind of way, but the number pad is just plain easier.I contacted support via their web page regarding some confusion I had about the "10th's" column in the mileage data (you can turn it on or off in preferences). They got back to me the next day and were helpful, informative and supportive.Data entry is done in portait mode, graphs are visible by flipping to landscape. It's exactly the type of feature that makes the iPhone so cool.I have about 80 service records total entered into the application and while it has slowed down a bit, it hasn't crashed once. What I've been waiting for! I had been keeping track of my MPG with another iPhone app (which I loved), but I had always wished that I could keep track of my service history with it too. There are a few other apps in the store that do both, but I never liked the clunky interfaces. Gas Cubby has filled that void for me. I just got through transferring my MPG history over (took me about 15 minutes because the other app used 'trip mileage per tank' instead of my actual odometer reading, so a little math was involved :) ). I also went back and added a couple of service appointments from the past year. The app is well thought out, and at times you might say 'too well' thought out. Just kidding! :) For example, for a simple fillup, you have about 10 fields to enter information in, everything all the way down to tire pressure. I'm not one to check my tire pressure at every fillup, but maybe there are some that do. The good thing is though, you can turn the unwanted fields off in the app settings. Turning the iPhone on its side is nice too - you get a really cool graphical overview of all your expenses & MPG. Overall, I'm really glad I bought Gas Cubby. I'll be using it constantly. One thing I'd like to see, and maybe this will be in a future update, is the ability to email your history. Right now I don't see an option to do this. Great Car/Gas App!! Out of everything I looked at and have used this App meets my needs the most. I was using AccuFuel and decided to buy Gas Cubby when I saw something on Gizmodo about it.
I don't miss AcvuFuel at all. The features that I like about G.C. Over Accufuel are:
Clean graphing that show gas cost over time.
Graphs for car expenses, work done, and MPG.
Excel export
Reset option for gas miliage input. Good when you forget to make a record without it messing up your graph info.
Tons of labeling options and the ability to add more.

Well designed with good feature set I've checked out several auto maintenance software like this one, so far this has the best mix of great interface and features. I like the use of the wide screen for chart display. A note from App Cubby There have been several bad reviews of Gas Cubby lately that are factually incorrect. As the developer of Gas Cubby, I'd like to set the record straight.1. Mileage calculations work just fine (the previous reviews by Maflagulator and Wire EDM Guy are incorrect). With thousands of people now using Gas Cubby, I've had a few tech support questions where people were confused about calculations, but everything was resolved by fixing user data. Gas Cubby does work differently than some mileage apps (and we'd like to think better), but it's all described in detail in the user manual on the App Cubby website.2. Gas Cubby allows you to customize the service reminder intervals for 15 of the most common service types, and even supports creating custom service types, but does not currently support adding a custom service reminder. I wish I had skipped Accufuel in favor of this This is a very polished application for tracking MPG, as compared to Accufuel. The data entry is more streamlined, and it has all sorts of other service-tracking features that I'm only scratching the surface on right now. I recommend it highly as the best-of-breed for gas mileage tracking. It's worth the price right now - you don't need to wait for refinements or enhancements in order to get your money's worth.I do have a couple of suggestions, for the developer, though.1) Your graphs all seem to have a relative y-axis scale. I think they should be anchored at zero, so as not to give the wrong impression to the user. Using a relative scale on the standard MPG screen, the difference from 22 to 23 MPG can look huge, when the actual impact is pretty small. If your intent is to make the data points visible, perhaps you could implement a tap to zoom in/out on the graph feature.2) Your graph entitled "Total Gas Expense" is a little misleading. It should probably be "Fillup Cost" or something like that. Total implies some sort of aggregation across time, in my opinion.3) Speaking of aggregation, would it be possible to have graphs called "Monthly Gas Expense" and "Monthly Service Expense?" THis would be extremely useful in tracking cost across time. Rather than line graphs, these should be bar graphs, again with the y-axis anchor at 0. A Great App This is the vehicle mileage/service app I've been waiting for. It has more features than the other two mileage apps I've used on the iPhone. I'm particularly happy to see the CSV email export function; now I can keep a complete record of all vehicle expenses in a Numbers spreadsheet. The developers answer questions rapidly also. Great app! Worth the price. This is a far superior replacement to FuelLog which I'd been using on my Palm for years. It's easy to use out of the box and tracks many addl important maintenance items besides just the cost of gas and mileage. More than I could have hoped for! After only one week this app has convinced me to retire the 12 years worth of log books I've religiously kept in my cars. Every time I gas up I record the date, the price per gallon, the total gallons used, and the total cost. Then I sit in the car and calculate my MPG. Then I look down the columns and get a feeling for how I'm doing, how much more I'm spending, etc.This app allows me to quickly record all this data, along with time, payment method, location, octane, fuel brand, tire pressure, custom tags (for searches later), and it calculates efficiency on the fly. Turn it sideways and you get a beautiful graph of your efficiency! Flick the screen and you're now viewing a graph of price/gallon over time. Then total cost. All this data is recorded per vehicle and can be viewed together, per vehicle, or by search terms. Want to compare efficiency on your 87 octane fills vs. your 89? Not a problem? How about Mobil vs. Sunoco? How about just the last 30 days to see if those hypermiling techniques you're trying are working out? This app is a metric freaks dream!This app also allows you to, with the same level of detail and ease of use, record every penny spent on every conceivable bit of car maintenance. You can then set reminders for those maintenance routines that require scheduling. Again, every penny spent can be graphed simply by turning your device sideways.Still not enough? Any of these reports can be emailed to you in a CSV format for you to play with in the spreadsheet app of your choice.Lastly, all this functionality would be next to worthless without beautiful design and a well thought out UI. The design is so handsome that it's a joy to use! When showing it to another couple it was enough to convince them ditch their Blackberries, that day, and buy iPhones! And the UI? I use this at the pump, one handed, and it's so fast that I can record location, payment type, octane, fuel brand, and price per gallon all well before the tank is full. I just have to wait until the pump stops before I punch in that final number and everything else is calculated.
