Ok...but TONS of room for improvement   Ok. First off, this is a great idea. I've always thought that if they could incorporate this into my car's onboard nav system I don't think I'd be spending that much time in traffic. Now that being said, this developer phoned (no pun intended) this one in. You have a device like the iPhone and you give us lists of cameras to sift through?? How about an interactive touch/zoom-able map showing where these cameras are (and which direction they're pointing)? If I'm driving somewhere that I'm not familiar with, how am I supposed to know which camera to select?? Oh...and I know this is a free app, but do I HAVE to be constantly blasted with ads for channel 4, etc.? I'd be MORE than happy to spend money on this if it was implemented properly and effectively. It might stay on my phone to save me in a pinch, but it's going to be tossed on my back pages until it gets fixed. BARELY passable first try on this guys, really. - LA Traffic Cam review by Sonofa Macintosh
Poorly implemented   Most of the camera locations are hard to figure out where they are. Unless you are familiar with every exit or overpass on the LA freeways, you have to guess.
There is no indication which direction you're looking at. So if one side is jammed and the other is open, you have to guess which is which.
It only shows LA County, and a couple of cameras in San Bernardino. Nothing in Orange county, Riverside, or even the valley!
When you save favorites, the names of the camera sites are not helpful. For example, I saved a camera at I605 and I10. The name of the camera in my favorites folder is listed as "At I10". No reference to where on I10 at all, and you can't re-name a camera, so I have to remember which ones I chose.
There are also no CalTrans alerts. So if there is a wreck or stalled car blocking a lane, but it's not within a camera's view, you have no idea. Those would be nice to know, especially since the CalTrans alerts tell you when they are expected to be cleared.
Also, the settings are in the main Apple settings menu, not in the app. So if you want to change the selections, you have to exit the app and go to settings, then go back to the app. Not user friendly.
Weak product so far. Needs a lot of updates. - LA Traffic Cam review by sdeetz
OK but for the advertising   A good app for what it does. Allows you to take a look at several different DOT freeway cameras to view traffic. For those who want to see what's happening ahead on their commute it would be useful. But I took off two stars because of the advertising. Sorry folks, but I don't watch KNBC's news and I don't want to see an ad every time I pick a DOT camera. - LA Traffic Cam review by mac91350
Not Real Video   This app doesn't show realtime video. It displays two still images about a second apart and just alternates them back and forth. The description is pretty misleading. - LA Traffic Cam review by Ding.Dong
Dumb   It doesn't even show any real traffic it had a moning picture at least I'd buy it - LA Traffic Cam review by Pjkooldude
Not live feed   It just shows a screenshot moving back and forth needs update - LA Traffic Cam review by Hjhjjvgb
Awful. Truly. Awful.   It's hard to quickly summarize all that is wrong with this app. In short: it doesn't work. A majority of the camera views don't work; the few that did work (I tried numerous ones, even ones I don't normally care about in an effort to find ONE that worked) reveal a still camera shot. How in the world is that helpful? Traffic changes in LA (and most cities) at a moment's notice -- making a still view useless. I thought/hoped this app would give video of the freeway to get a real sense of how it is moving (or not moving). Nope, not this app. Worse, the entire app appears to be a commercial for NBC's LA affiliate station. How this company could let this app go out in what appears to be a PRE-Beta stage is beyond comprehension. Avoid this. I already deleted it from my phone. Horrible. Horrible. - LA Traffic Cam review by paul adam h.
Great App, more accuracy   I'd love to avoid the traffic, if I could just see ahead. This could be a great App, but it's so inaccurate. The 10 Fwy Vermont is the 101 Camera, the 405 Manchester is the 110 Camera. The constant stream of Advertising is malicious to productivity, and nothing is editable. Not only can you not add more Camera's, you can't fix the errors. As far as the Camera's go, I think I'd support better Maintenance! The 10 Freeway Bundy, and the Hwy 1 McClure East Camera's have never worked. With 10 Vermont error showing the 101 Freeway, the entire WLA stretch of the 10 freeway can not be seen! The 405 at Mullhulland, looks straight down. So in all of West Los Angeles, there is one Camera!!!! If Traffic on the 405 and the 10 is legendary, this App should show something. Lastly, the Presets should sort by Freeway, not by Camera Name... a da... At least the main list displays by Freeway. If they can fix it, it may be be one of the most valuable Apps for Los angeles area residents. Traffic Maps are cool, and helpful. But in Video, the picture is clear. Overall, I'm surprised that NBC would advertised with a product that has so many errors in it.Dan - LA Traffic Cam review by DanH88
Great!   KNBC really is "4" L.A! But what about Riverside, OC and San Diego? - LA Traffic Cam review by Oil Carmel 3
So So :(   Does not show real time video. Misleading. I believe it does on a Verizon phone with Vcast but, not on the iPhone. Maybe in 2.0? - LA Traffic Cam review by Kevin in Valencia
Great app!!!   ... but why do we need traffic cams for LA & areas cuz they're jammed ALL THE TIME... !!! ;-p - LA Traffic Cam review by Butter Highscore
Riverside   Riverside is included in this app but, it appears under San bernardino. Also, may be they could have done a better job on catergorizing the streets with the freeways. Especially In the San bernardino-riverside county where you just view a list of street names but no freeway. Some of these streets cross several freeways so you have to take guess at the image you're looking at. Also, get caltrans to activate some of the non working cameras. Other than that this app is pretty cool. Just needs fine tuning, definetly worth it's price!!! - LA Traffic Cam review by "phat 1"
Give it a break!   The app does what it's supposed to: show you traffic. Can you imagine TRYING to stream a live feed?! Instead, what it shows is 2 pics taken at the time of your query, to see how traffic is moving. Picture 1: Cars. Picture 2: No cars. I wonder what this means... OR Picture 2: Same cars still there... Hmm? Why would you need a live feed? It could use access to more cams (they have 'em!), but at least it's out now and a good start. - LA Traffic Cam review by I hate traffic
Cool concept, and nice, but still needs improvement   I like this App and it's useful to me, but I wish there were more cameras in locations that are more important. Also, it's a limited area - they need to add a section for Orange County. - LA Traffic Cam review by pacific
Pointless app   This app must be a joke by NBC. 75-80% of the cameras don't work. When the cameras do work the image is ok but there is no useful info that can be pulled from them. Streaming video is important in to remove the guess workfrom looking at the footage but this app only does 2 frames that never update unless you refreash them yourself. I used the app for about 15 minutes and I wish I could get that time back, it was a complete waste of my time. Sigalert has more cams, OC LA and much more for coverage and you can stream it. Sadly sigalert does not have an app but you can still access the web page for traffic. Unless this app adds more coverage and streaming video I would say others should not waste 15 minutes of their lives to find out just how bad this app is. NBC clearly didn't want this thing to suceed I'd they would have addressed the issues that I and others have spoken about. - LA Traffic Cam review by Neo47
Great potential   Why so few options that are labeled so poorly? This could be a great app. Willing to pay for more thorough coverage. - LA Traffic Cam review by Stunneddisbelief
Poorly written   The highways I take don't work. The 1 (pch) doesent work and if it did it should have more cameras. The 10 on bundy doesent work. The camera that does work is glitchy it just shows the same cars (it looks as if they move back and forth). It is kind of confusing to get around the ads. - LA Traffic Cam review by Dr. Bling
Hopefully they will have an update patch   With some future updates this program would be a 5 star, so far so good. - LA Traffic Cam review by Ezlnh8u
Mis labled or not working   video cams, please fix, ie vermont on 10 is really vermont on 101 - LA Traffic Cam review by Magicrw
NBC Advertising vehicle. Nothing more   It would be nice if someone noticed that Orange and Riverside Counties apparently have fallen into the ocean, as they have exactly ZERO cameras listed in this app (and CalTrans has plenty of cameras in both areas). Not really live cameras, just 2 frames looping, trying to fool you into thinking it's a live shot. You'd think NBC would be smarter in pushing it's advertising. This is a weak app, if you are looking for information. This is a great app, if you are an advertiser and want to push it on unsuspecting people looking for information. - LA Traffic Cam review by marcotor
