Fantastic!   I needed this for common mistakes, and within 5 minutes of purchase I had already used it to check spelling errors and typos within documentation. (you know dumb mistakes like possition instead of position). If this sounds like you, then this app is for you as well.
I honestly have not tried other dictionaries, but the glowing reviews here, and awesome price for what you get convinced me to buy it. I'm glad that I did. Now if I could just work on my grammar.
Tips hat to the developers. Awesome work! 5 well deserved stars.

WordBook vs. AHD 4   I bought this dictionary while waiting for AHD4 to do something other than brick my phone. As I wandered thru the WordBook I began to really like its features. The reference links are great and I still don't understand why these bigger, more expensivedictionaries don't supply a decent thesaurus. WoodBook does and it's not half bad.In defense of AHD4, ever since the 2.1 upgrade it has worked flawlessly.it does have a slightly larger vocabulary than WoodBook for the most part(altho AHD4, why no "hypernym?").It also boasts the pronunciation and a voice recording for most of its wordsit has NO thesaurus and takes up a huge chuck of real estate file size wise(audio files demand space)The definitions tend to be longer and more complete with AHD4 and bothapps are easy to use with similar search functions.Which one is better?Well, I have and Use Both and as a writer one dictionaryis never really enuf. If you must have pronuciation and word history (or even tiny pics of various word definitions)then go for AHD4, but if you're just looking for a gooddictionary/decent thesaurus then save a few bucks andgo with the excellent WoodBook. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by atavision
Great UI and excellent performance, but the content can't compare to the "name-brand" dictionaries   WordNet, a project of the Cognitive Science Laboratory of Princeton University, is a freely available online lexicon for the English language. It maps words by their semantic relationships -- not just the commonly referenced "same/opposite" relations that we find in synonyms and antonyms, but many more, such as the "X is a kind of Y" relationships of hyponyms (as in "a cat is a kind of feline") or the "X is a part of Y" relationships of meronyms (as in "a page is a part of a book"). WordBook, unfortunately, doesn't take full advantage of WordNet's semantic relationship system; as far as I was able to tell, it only lists synonyms for any given word, and doesn't even list antonyms.WordNet also happens to include definitions, and because it is freely available, it's a good source for free or inexpensive dictionaries such as WordBook. Unfortunately, these definitions, while certainly adequate for most purposes, are not generally written with the same care, precision, or artistry as you'll find in the well-respected commercial dictionaries such as Merriam-Webster or the OED. If you are a serious student or you make a living writing or editing, it's probably worth it to pay more for a professional dictionary, though you probably already know that. But for a dictionary application that uses free definitions, WordBook is undoubtedly impressive; WordBook distinguishes itself with snappy performance and a very thoughtfully designed UI. All your basic dictionary app needs are easily available from the tab bar; you can search or browse for words, mark words as favorites, and browse your lookup history. No space is wasted, and everything you need to do is easy to get to. (If you dig deeper, there's even a neat "Puzzle Word Finder" feature that helps you solve crossword puzzles or anagrams.)WordBook is an impressive effort, and it's probably as good as a low-cost dictionary app can get. The content could be better, but the app shows all the signs of smart design -- I'd even go so far to say that it's too bad that the owners of the name-brand dictionary IP didn't hire the creators of WordBook to develop their iPhone software. This is definitely an app to consider. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by c.libre
WOW is all I have to say   This application is not only a comprehensive dictionary and thesaurus, but also a good word finder. It allows you to use wild card characters to find words for cross words and scrabble. By far the most comprehensive dictionary and thesaurus on iTunes. Even the User interface is top notch. What impressed me the most was the cross references contained within the definitions. Competitors with this dictionary do some things well, or maybe one thing well, and that is fine, but Wordbook does everything I want/need VERY well. You can tell there was a massive amount of thought put into this application because it shows. It was well worth the money. I would even hazard to say it is worth more than what they are charging. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by rud3n3ss
If you only buy 1 app all season ...   I'm the smartest guy I know. I've been looking for something like this for the better part of a decade and own more Frankin electronic dictionaries than I care to list. Best GUI I've seen, and I've seen 'em all over the world. Word of advice from the smartest guy I know: buy this app. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by Abusage
Surprisingly Sufficient   There are not many dictionaries of the English language in the app store and that is a tragedy in and of itself but this app almost makes up for it single-handedly. The user interface is really great for the long-time iPhone user because it's all very similar to the way that the native applications are operated making it nothing short of intuitive and natural to use. The complementary attribute to that is the quickness at which the application responds to input. It's just as quick as using the "contacts," and for that I give the developer a huge pat on the back. Those two things, coupled with the reliability of this application (it has never crashed on me) make it worth the money to me. As has been pointed out by other reviewers, the content could be better but it's sufficient and even practical for most non-professional uses. I'd say it's good enough for scholarly work as well as long as it's not post-graduate work. The bottom line is that it's worth the extra money over the free dictionaries available and it is significantly cheaper than the Merriam-Webster currently available for 24.99 that is not as user friendly and certainly not as good of a value. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by Brandon Kuzel
Excellent!   Great combination of dictionary size, fast intuitive interface, and price. Linked words act as a decent thesaurus. Just what I've been waiting for. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by Macah0lic
Great Buy and worth the money   Absolutely love this!! It has a favorites list so you can add the words you don't know and are trying to learn. It uses the word in a sentence for you with synonyms. Also finds "Sounds like" words incase you're not sure on the spelling. Way, way way way better than paying 25 bucks!! I am so pleased!! - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by Cinatrin
Exactly what I needed!   It's so awesome to always have access to a dictionary on the go! I'm so happy with the userfriendly interface and the extra functions they provide. Helps me speak and write effectively, and also caters to my curiosity of learning new words. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by Hyokano
Even better after yesterday's upgrade   Pronunciation, thesaurus *and* Wiki quick access...helllloo?...and yes, that's spelled correctly. Nice job! Great app for a writer (or business person) on the road, or just thumb-happy gadgetheads. Keep the improvements coming. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by sirenator

Great dictionary   This was the first application I had to have after buying my new itouch. I am very impressed with the very comprehensive word bank. Highly recommended, even at this price. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by kakvox
Excellent app. Works perfectly!   Everyone will love this app. It is super easy to use and the price is way fair. The developers put a lot of work into this app, and it shows. I wanted a good solid dictionary that had some text to speech option and this app delivered. You can also use alex from mac's leopard operating system! So awesome. Fantastic app. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by Desingerguy

Excellent Dictionary   This is an excellent dictionary that easily bests others costing much more. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by ncianca
Great for homework - Parents rejoice!   I have two sons and this has really paid for itself in the first homework session! If you are like most parents, you are sitting at night re-living school and helping on schoolwork .... and boy I hate those anagrams. My younger son (5th grade) had a sheet full of them and within minutes, we were done and moved on! This is also helpful in my everyday life as well. I can see myself using this application over and over and over. I tried the freebe one for a few, but just didnt get the quality I got in this one. I know people will say it costs to much and there are free ones, but we write reviews on the programs themselves not the costs and alternatives. I made the decision to purchase it and I am thankful I did! Thanks for a great product and keep the updates coming. You have a great application and it will only get better. - WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus review by jeffs23
