PushMail - Simon Patarin
Be notified when you receive mail within seconds! The most versatile and reliable mail notification app available: you can configure as many accounts as you want, get different notification sounds for each of your contacts, choose the format of your notifications and many more unique features! Works with Gmail, MobileMe, Live/Hotmail, business or university accounts and many others as long as you can redirect a copy of your incoming mails.
HOW IT WORKS:
PushMail sends push notifications to your iPhone or iPod Touch when you receive emails, just like regular SMSes. The application lets you register a username for the dopushmail.com domain after which each email sent to <yourusername>@dopushmail.com will push a notification to your device. All you need to do then is to redirect a *copy* of the emails for which you want to be notified to your @dopushmail.com address (note that Yahoo! and AOL does not allow this).
The dopushmail.com address is only used for the notifications, your contacts will never see it and you reply with your usual address.
CONTACT:
For questions about using or configuring the app, do not hesitate to write us at support@dopushmail.com (we cannot reply to comments left in the App Store...).
FEATURES:
• Sounds customizable per account, per sender and per subject
• More than 80 notification sounds to choose from
• Attachment support
• Silence mode and quick mute to not be disturbed at night or temporarily
• Badge notifications
• Open Mail or any URL directly from the notification (NB: Mail will open in Compose Mode, due to a limitation of the iOS SDK)
• Option to store and display full emails
• Repeat option: do not miss any notification anymore
• Possibility to backup settings on server
• Built-in help
BENEFITS:
• Easy setup with Gmail, MobileMe, Hotmail, Unix servers and any mail provider that allows for automatic redirection
• Works for an unlimited number of accounts
• No need to give away your email credentials
• No notification flood: by setting up rules for transfering only the emails you really care about
• Improved productivity: you only check email if you know it is necessary 2009-2011 Simon Patarin

Simple Elegance   This app fulfills the desire to get near-instant notification of incoming emails. Just set your email system to forward a copy of the email to your PushMail address and notices will start popping up on your phone as emails arrive. Simple, straightforward, and well done. This app will NOT cache your email. The PushMail app itself on the iPhone is very minimal. It really just exists to manage your PushMail account and to allow the push notifications to come into your iPhone. I'll repeat, because it's important: The emails themselves are NOT delivered and held by the PushMail app. But that's _good_ because A) why would you want your email in 2 places (it's already in the Mail app), and B) your email is not being held in some potentially unsafe third party server. The Mail app itself is the repository for email and where you'll read your messages. It also serves as the place where the badge indicating new messages appears, instead of the PushMail icon (although you'll have to have "fetch" turned on for the mail account for the badge to get updated without opening the Mail app). PushMail itself can be moved to the end of your application screens and forgotten about.So... forward copies of email to PushMail address, alerts pop up on your phone, you read the email with the Mail app.I think this app solves the problem of push email quite nicely. And the price is justified because you pay your $$ once, but the developer has to maintain a server for pushing messages forever.

Works as advertised.   I have looked at PushMail and GPush for several days before deciding to go the PushMail. It works as advertised. I get the notification no longer than four seconds from the time an email was sent in my tests. The reason I like PushMail is that it does not ask for email credentials and gPush does. That I feel is better suited for business use. Also, a benefit of PushMail is that it allows you to push more than one account.Requests in future versions: Would like to be able to choose sound of notification. Curious: One request I am seing over and over again is the ability to navigate from notification to the email itself. I am not so sure I even want that. But if it is there, I might use it.

Works Great!   After struggling with Gpush, I found this app!! Yay! Was easy to set up and delivery is VERY fast. Also, recieved a very fast response on a support question I had. Wanted to make sure that forwarding to my dopushmail account didn't interfer with the delivery of my Gmail to Outlook. It does not as long as you keep "gmail's copy in the inbox". Nice!

Simple, Functional   I love it! The only thing that's missing is an unread messages count, or some way to preserve your email alert in the event you accidentally miss the popup. Customizable sound would be icing on the cake. Thank you!

Price   I see the price has been reduced to a more reasonable amount, especially compared to GPush. I paid the higher price, but it was worth it. Now with the lower price it should surpass GPush in sales because it "works" and has the additional features of multiple email accounts and forwarding from specific contacts instead of every incoming email!

Fantastic app   This is my first-ever app review, and I am using it to recommend PushMail. I was hesitant about the $5 pricetag, but now that it's $3, it's a no-brainer.
Testing the app by sending mail from my AOL account to my GMail, I get a push notification about 18 seconds after I hit "send" - sometimes even before my computer's GMail notices the message. This has been a consistent result, and I'm quite happy with it.
I was initially drawn in by GPush, and I even spent $1 on it. True, it is cheaper, and when it does work, it is a tiny bit faster. However, nearly two weeks after the initial release, it's still a mess. GPush sends me notifications for maybe 10% of my e-mails. They seem well-intentioned, and I have no doubt that they will get their act together - but why wait? PushMail works every time. It's a bargain at $3.

Perfect   I own a small business and I was tempted to set up exchange or another expensive email server. Pushmail let's me know when I get new mail both on those accounts and on my personal gmail instantly. You can't beat the price, either.

Great app & @email response   The app is great. I love the profile that allow to customize messages. There are bugs and requests on the app that the developer is considering to fix .. the developer is very responsive and listen to you @email (twitter). I got helpful and satisfactory response from the developer. I am giving 5 stars for the helpful feedbacks - i would give more. Based on the developer's response, i believe some bugs and requests will be on the next update.

Useless   This app is completely useless if you're not getting a copy of the actual email on the spot. What's the point of knowing you got an email if you can't open it right there on the spot and there's not a copy on your iPhone.

Just what GMAIL needs   I've downloaded like one hundred apps.. this is the first one that I've ever felt truly compelled to write a review for. It works exactly as described and now I basically have PUSH notifications for my gmail account. No need to poll the imap server every 15 min or so... saves battery life! It's a bit expensive, but..

Good...could be Awesome   The concept is right on...but I am dissapointed that the notifications are not customizable. The single standard tone is not easily heard. Please, please add a few more sounds to choose from....maybe similar to the sounds currently available for text pages.

Awesome Application - Well Worth The Cost   I have used a BlackBerry for the past few years and grew attached to the push technology they have. None of the e-mail accounts I use are on an enterprise server andI hate the fact I have to "Fetch" every 15 minutes. No more......this application is top shelf. Easy to set up both on the phone and with any e-mail account you want forwarded to you pushmail account.Alerts are triggered in almost realtime for both my accounts. I also e-mailed the developer and got a reply inside of 20 min.If your looking for true push alerts - Buy this application.

Simple and elegant   A simple app that does it it advertises: sends a push notification when you push mail to it. Useful for push Gmail, or other notification services. A little room for improvement re: adding a few additional options for handling pushes, but very slick and well implemented.
