Worth the $0.99 I don't know Japanese; however, I purchased this app to obtain the new emoticons that were introduced with the iPhone 2.2 update exclusively for the Japanese market. I tried other free apps which claimed enabling these emoticons, but thus far this app has been the only one that enabled what I was looking for. Get it for emoji / emotionicon Make sure to play with the app for few minutes. Click on the few articles, click on the two buttons at the bottom, etc. It took me 3 tries and it took my friend 4 times before "emoji" option showed up under Japanese keyboard setting. (Setting, General, International, Keyboard, Japanese, and click emoji to "On") Once you enable it, go to SMS, click the global button next to the space bar and emoji should show up. - 老地方冰果室 review by Akira1980

Watch out if you have 2.2.1 Firmware. If you already have the 2.2.1 firmware installed this will not work to enable Emoji icons.I have heard that if you have 2.2 firmware, install Frosty Place and then upgrade to 2.2.1 firmware it will continue to work. Not Japanese, but Chinese This application was made by a company from Taiwan, not Japan. And more directly, the Chinese characters are not simplified, but rather the traditional set. Looking for Emojis? Don't bother! There WAS a note about the emojis as part of their description. However, they deleted it probably because Apple rejected the update if they fix that option.
