MotionX-GPS is great I use MotionX GPS every day, and I'm someone who not long ago didn't think I'd ever need a GPS system. But I've been using it daily to track my walking mileage to fit exercise into my day. I really like listening to music and just heading out the door --and the best part is I don't need a defined course/track to measure my distances (high school track or municipal trail, etc.). That works well for an "urban explorer" like me -- I can just walk wherever I want, and save my favorite routes, geo-tag photo's to "brag" to friends, etc. And I must say the overall polish of this program is impressive and shows the attention to detail that went into making it.

Great app!! C'mon folks. If you're looking for address input and turn by turn read the directions.
This app is a great GPS app and a steal for the price. My only suggestion is to allow for different distance increments..ie feet/yards/meters. I would like to use this for golf bit the pin .03km isn't helpful as I would like. But for what the app was designed for, hands down a great app.

[Updated] Love It Two additions would take this to 5 stars (it is now up to 4.5 stars) and make it, literally, my favorite app on the iPhone.First, it would be really helpful if, rather than having to arrow through the screens, one could click on the screen display name, have a list of the screens pop-up, and go to any one of them directly.Second, add mporting of waypoints and routes/tracks. Please![Crashing is fixed!!! Not a single crash since moving to version 4]

Best App!! I ride many trails on my dirt bike out in the deserts of Califonia. I have always wanted a GPS system to track my route and speed and also to download the information to view and share with other fellow riders. I found those gps units made with these specs where very expensive. Then i found Motion X, I tried the Lite version and went on a ride with my iPhone. All i have to say is WOW!! i loved the features and interface of the program. So its natural to say i have upgraded to the full version. Way to go fullpower with another great app!! Love the new colors! Great update! I m over the google map thang! Better without it! Don't need tightwad google anyways,the four hours I used google sat.image was confusing and hard to read. 'f' google, who needs em! Use another search once in awhile!

Outstanding This is the best app on my iPhone. I use it for mountain biking with a RAM mount and it works great. I also use it for hiking, skiing, and other sports. Absolutely amazing. Once I am finished with the track, I download it to Every Trail and get a great view of what I just did and I can share it with my friends. Awesome job MotionX!!

Amazing app... I'm in charge of GPS purchases for a government agency, and am a huge fan of Gar__n's products. While you are limited by the iphone hardware and battery, this software blows the doors off of any of G's products - easily the best GPS interface I've used.

Simply awesome -- FIVE STARS ! I am a heavy user of a Garmin 705 GPS device, mostly for mapping mountain bike trails and hiking. I used MotionX-GPS Lite in parallel for a few weeks and I was thinking about replacing my Garmin with it but it still lacked a few critical features such as track saving and exporting. A Snowboarders answer! I'm a pro boarder and guide tours up the Sierras. So I built two setups: Incase extra battery and water sailing bag for long trecks and a simple Otterbox for trecks that are less than 4 hours. I am blown away by the fact that not only I can do everything that I couldn't do with a $500 Garmin, but I can also give tour updates through automated emails to the base and show them automatically where we are on the Mountain *WITH ONE CLICK*. At the end I can instantly send tracks with automatically attached pictures (on the track) to my customers..... I mean this is the next generation CONNECTED ACTION GPS. I thinkt hat the MotionX team has not done justice to what they built by not pumping what it really does. Anyone into an action sport like mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, climbing, sailing, running wants this. Get that Ottercase... It is totally water resistant (better than Garmin), costs less than $75 and allows you to use the touchscreen. It doesn't get much better than that. That's a great Action GPS that out-performed the new $500 Garmin Colorado This applications kicks the new Garmin Colorado C. After using MotionX on my bike I decided to try it on a stand-up-paddle surfing expedition. The logistics are challenging because sooner or later you may "swim". Best water proofing: Zip-lock bag. That works like a charm. Yet after reading a review here and talking to a sailing friend who actually uses MotionX for sailing, I decided to double up on water-resistance and went and bought an Otter-Case. So now my setup is an iPhone-3G in an otter case, inside a zip-lock bag. It works like a charm. The beauty of this setup is that I can use the touch-screen, recall the application and keep on going. The Garmin unit is useless with it's cluttered UI. But here is the kicker: *DURING* my expeditions, I can send progress updates back to land automatically directly through the phone network and everyone can instantly visualize on Google Maps or Google Earth. Which leads me to the next set of praise: MotionX composes automatically a report that gets sent by email to whoever I choose. It's a one-click operation. Now I have started to use MotionX in my car and can signal my progress to the outside world. I can think of a few improvements and I can't wait for the new versions. I don't use no steenkin' Tom-Tom Reading some of these reviews, it's obvious a few users don't understand this app. This isn't for turn-by-turn directions, nor should anyone attempt to use it for such. This is made for off-road use like hiking and mountain biking, and it does its job extraordinarily well. Like all GPS units not made for Joe Sixpack to get around town, this requires a little understanding of geographic coordinates. Try taking a Garmin or a Tom-Tom into the mountains and you'll quickly understand the difference.What I really like about it: you can use your iPhone's camera to make a photographic journal of your hike and you can set a waypoint for important locations, such as your campsite. It's nearly impossible to get lost with this app. I've taken it into the mountains around my town several times, often on trails I've never been on before, and it lets me know exactly where I am and how to get back to camp with extraordinary accuracy. Now all I worry about are mountain lions and black bears.And to sweeten the deal, it's $3 as opposed to $400 for a dedicated device that does the same thing. This is why I bought the iPhone 3G!!! I have almost every app on the App Store intended for outdoor navigation. This is the best by a long shot. It's the GPS app I've been waiting for -- truly one of the reasons I upgraded to the 3G as I was anticipating this sort of application.
