2+1+1+1 I've given two stars, and am reserving one star for each of three requests in functionality. I will gladly add each star if/when these functions become available.First, the positives: It's a clean interface with a very readable and adjustable font. Searching by text input or by verse number lookup is simple. I love the ESV, and am glad to see it being offered more and more. Thanks for that.The three added functions I would like to see, and would add a star for each function, are the following:1. Highlighter. Let me highlight text.2. With highlighting, let me save personal reading notes.3. The bookmark feature is decent, but add the ability to group bookmarks and name the groups. It's one thing to be able to simply save the reference. It's another to be able to categorize them. As well, if one could bookmark passages as well as individual verses, I could see this becoming a phenomenal app.I've got some skin in the game. I downloaded the application based on a particular version of Scripture I wished to use, and bought that from Olive Tree. I sincerely want to keep using it since I've invested in a Bible download as well. Thanks.

Thank you for providing this for FREE I want to thank all the people and organizations that provide free Apps for all of us to enjoy. It is a shame that many of you are so ungrateful for the Free App that you have to complain and nit pick "this is what I want", "I think it should do this", and my favorite "I've reserved 1+1+1 and will give them to you when I get what I want" and wants it for free no less. If you want all those features, then BUY the full version. Otherwise, simply say THANK YOU to all those who give these "Lite" versions away for free. I would love to see more people giving the APP providers that give these away free a break. If you want to hold your "stars" "hostage" until you get what you want, then develop the APP yourself and lets see you give it away for free. I bet that'll never happen.

Best IPhone Bible Software I've been using Olive Tree Bible Software for a decade on 3 different software platforms. Their product and support is the best by far (IMHO). There are some comments that you cannot use products you've previously bought which needs some explanation. Olive Tree is continually developing their IPhone version and everything will eventually work, they just can't do it all at once. Anything you've already bought will work (and you won't have to pay for it again) when they program that particular resource for IPhone. Just takes a little patience. Their Greek and Hebrew fonts and the way they are rendered on the iPhone are fantastic. The parsed versions aren't available yet, but will be eventually. They now have both popup windows (for NASB with Strongs, which I already had on a previous software platform so I did NOT have to buy it again, cool!) and a split screen for two versions at once or a bible and commentary or notes. Great piece of software and no I do not work for Olive Tree, just love the product and have used it for years.

Excellent with pop-up NASB Strongs The new Strongs pop-ups are a very good addition to an already great program. I have been using BibleReader on Windows Mobile for some time now, and would like to see some sort of implementation of the Ilumina feature. There is still a lot of content that I have on WM that I cannot access yet on my iPhone, but the application and features that I can use are great.

Awesome App! Best app I have downloaded! If you want a digital Bible, get this. Just know you have to purchase most translations. Olive tree is working on making it even better too! If you have this app go to thier site and take the survey. Way to go Olive Tree!

It's finally here! This is one of the best Bible program on the market! The wait is over. OliveTree's Biblereader has finally been ported to the iPhone. This is a superb program. OliveTree offers numerous translations and commentaries for your Bible study needs. I do have a few problem with this program: If you already own a large OliveTree library, you cannot transfer them to the iPhone. OliveTree, listen up - If Mantis Bible Study FOR THE IPHONE can add different versions directly from their own store website, why can't you guys? Adding Bibles, commentaries, and books does not break Apple's distribution rules. Mantis is not the only company that is selling add-ons directly from their own website, both Ereader and Stanza are also allowing people to add or buy ebooks directly from their own website, BibleReader should do the same! I shouldn't have to repurchase everything again! I will give this application more stars, if this problem can be solved.Pros:Continuous scrolling with a finger swip.Large selections of Bible translations and commentaries (Coming Soon)Be able to see the actual verse with the reference when doing a search.Fast result when doing search. Cons:Can't use you existing OliveTree library.Can't compare two different translations or see commentaries on split screenNo support for Greek and Hebrew right now.No support for horizontal displayFinal Summary:If you are in the market for a Bible program this is the best program available right now. Let's Stop Picking This Apart! Not a bad app, especially for free. Not a lot of bells & whistles, but a useful app. Why trash it when there is no Portuguese tranlation, when the description clearly states English, and all of the included translations are plainly listed? That is unfair to the developer, who spent time working on this.I had to update my review after reading Grace Church's scathing critique. I guess maybe Olive Tree Bible Software should've charged $29.95 or more for this, so then people would have a legitimate gripe. As it stands, for a free app, it's quite good, shortcomings notwithstanding. This is an INITIAL EFFORT and, from what I've seen, it's darned good. As far as adding books, yep, maybe it'll require an update or, perhaps in a future version, you'll be able to do an over-the-air update or purchase, but there so far isn't any app I've seen here that allows you to add content through iTunes (it's evidently a restriction Apple has placed on developers). I think Apple needs to revisit its review system to prevent the occasional "I hate this app because it doesn't do EXACTLY what I want" review from bringing down the average rating. My take... if you can do better, write your own app, and don't trash those who give you something for free!OK... updating this AGAIN after reading things like "This isn't the Palm Bible reader"! Of course it's not! If you take the time to visit the Olive Tree site, you will see this app on their front page, including what its shortcomings are, both limitations imposed by Apple and those occurring because this is a first release of the software. They also CHARGE for other platforms. This is a developer who seems genunely interested in ultimately proving the ultimate Bible reader for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Finally a non web based bible I have been using the Olivetree bible reader on my PDA and I love it.Most of the other bibles for the iPhone are web based which has been useless when I needed them the most; in church.This is the first iteration of their reader for the iPhone which is not quite like the PDA versions yet in terms of adding notes and hightlighting verses. Olivetree bible readers always gets better.I only wish there was a way to use my bibles that I bought for my PDA. Palm BibleReader it is not! I have enjoyed using Olive Tree's BibleReader on may Palm PDA. It is a great full featured program. This iPhone version offers very little. It comes across as a quick response to Mantis Bible and so was released too soon. But it should be noted that the verse selection screens mirror the PDA version and is much better than the other iPhone Bible apps I have seen. - BibleReader review by jfschultz

No original KJV???? Technically a good app but why not include the original KJV in this app...it is still one of the most popular translations ...much more so than the MKJV and it has no copywrite or authors to get permission from. Continuously Adding Features ... This reader is fantastic. I can finally use my favorite Bible translation with my favorite reference note set, ( or intuitively access other versions with other notes against the reference I'm currently reading ). Eventhough I've only been using Olive Tree a short time ( one month ), I can see that they are always adding new features. Since my original purchase, they've added a Popup Window to the core reader. The newer reader was flawlessly installed, and my original purchased libraries were quickly added without repurchasing. Olive Tree has demonstrated that they listen to users' requests when adding features ... multiple screens will be a nice addition to the Popup Window for quickly reading references.I also have Mantis ... I could go into detailed explaination ... but I like Olive Tree by far ... although Mantis is good software as well. I feel that many of the earlier comments about Mantis being better than Olive Tree are Dated Comments. I challenge anyone to compare recent comments to recent comments ( ALWAYS ) to get a better feel before making a purchase. I.e. a year from now, I might have to re-evaluate. Currently Olive Tree seems by far the best software for using multiple translations with multiple references ... many of which are free ( ASV, MKJV, Matthew Henry Commentary, NET translation with limited notes, etc ... as well as classics by Torrey, Bounds, Bunyan, Spurgeon, Piper, Josephus, etc ... ) To be fair, however, I am still waiting for some free Mantis 4.0 reader to see how it works with my existing purchases there ...
