You won't believe the tech support! Late Saturday night? No problem—the developer's on the case. We emailed back and forth on a Saturday night. A lot of reviews asked for scales so I assumed they weren't part of the program. Wrong—they're right there. What a delightful and comprehensive application, not to mention the developer's remarkable support. I'm delighted to support this kind of software and the people who produce it.

It's ok, but you'll still want a tuner around... When I first saw this, I thought... "Great, now I can just use this for those emergency tunings." The tuner here is subpar. It's nice that it has settings for 40 tuning styles but if I set it to one it should realize the note that I'm looking for on that string... An example is "Hendrix Tuning" - it's a half step down on everything... On a completely tuned guitar it showed 2 strings tuned correctly, one string tuned at a # (which was really the correct flat - so it was kinda right) and three strings out of tune that all my other digital tuners (and my ear) registers as correct. The chord lookup is classy, and the tones screen is nice for ear toning... The metronome is extremely annoying. All in all, they have a good start, but I hope they spend some time cleaning the application up. I regret spending $10 so early in it's development. - GuitarToolkit review by tim_k
B+ This is well worth the $10. This isn't the best tuner, but it is just as good as the digital tuners in the $30-$40 range (i.e. Boss, Korg, etc.). The metronome function isn't the best, the tone is annoying and it is difficult to easily change the tempo. The ability to customize tap tones would be cool. Also, a silent option for the metronome would be great for me. Guitar tones and chords weren't really useful to me, but they work well. Overall, B+, but with some future updates this will be one AWESOME app.

New version is AWESOME The metronome and tuner are fine, but the chord encyclopedia is now AWESOME with the ability to pluck/strum and hear the chords. We are not talking just C/D/A/G major here - this will be of even greater interest to jazz guitarists and other serious musicians than it is to rockers. It is absolutely comprehensive with multiple voicings of even the most complex chords. Great not just for learning how to play them but also for learning the sound. Having had a quick interaction with the developer, I would say this is one very fairly priced and in depth app that is likely to be improved where possible. Great for pros or beginners! I've played professionally for many years and think this is an amazing app. Yes, minor additions can improve this app to make it the perfect app, complete with everything but considering it's only ten bucks, it's great. The tuner is accurate as one can ask for without having a roadie nearby tell you otherwise. The metronome is also handy (especially considering re upgrade improved the sounds). The tap tempo is especially useful for transcribing or writing down quick compositions and metronome markings.

Must have for a guitar player! Amazing!!! I've wanted something like this for a long time! Tuner with standard tuning and an alternate tuning (which there a tons that I've never even heard of), metronome is really cool to have, and its has a list of chords which is absolutely awesome! Awesome. Of the 20 apps from the app store I have on my phone, I've only purchased two: Calissa, and this. Already in my two days of having the app I've gotten my money's worth and then some out of it. The tuner is a little tricky, enjoys clean guitar sounds much more than distorted or overdrive ones, and for whatever reason the D string gets picked up for only about a fraction of a second (which is actually enough time to see if it's in tune or not), but the number of alternate tunings and the fact that the tuner actually works (and pretty well, at that) means I'll be experimenting for weeks to come. The metronome I haven't used yet, but from what I can tell it seems usable enough. The chord dictionary is awesome. Really simple to select a type of chord and to decipher the result, and I enjoy the ability to see the different inversions of the chord, or just the different places on the neck to play the same chord. I'm in Tune This handy application is well worth $10. The tuner works well, the chord library is very educational, the metronome is always a big help for the rhythmically challenged (ahhh most everyone should use a metronome) the guitar tone is cool too. The tuner has more alternate tuning's pre-programed then any other tuner on the market that I can think of. I never even new there were some of these tunings. If your a guitar player and you own an iphone do not hesitate to get this application. It is a GuitarToolkit. Now lets see if they can make an update to show scales and key signatures with the chords you may be playing. An essential tool for guitarists Beautifully designed app with intuitive UI. Costs less than the average tuner, and you get so much more. Not only does it give you all the chord formations (which are now able to be strummed), but they also added scales! The only thing I'd still like them to add is the ability to select three or more notes, and have the app tell me what chord that is. GREAT App!!! It DOES work with iPhone 2.0.1. I was concerned by a previous review, so I wrote tech support - got a nice response ASAP. The problem is NOT with this software. IF a rare problem occurs, it's with data corruption on the iPhone itself.
That said, I downloaded it and love it! The metronome could be louder, but is easy enough to adjust. I tuned my guitar using the tuner and immediately checked it against the tuner on my Roland G-DEC. It was dead on. I tried to check the notes on a Native American Flute, but found the tuner was a bit too sensitive for this application. (of course, that's not what it was designed for...I was just so thrilled with this app that I wanted to push its limits.)
The chord feature is a quick, easy reference that should really help build my chord vocabulary.
