awesome app Awesome app - I use it daily on the way to & back from work on the train on my iPod Touch. Very simple to use & it expoits the iPod screen to the max! Small teething problems (crashes, updates that wipe off currently saved articles) still persist, but they are only slight annoyances.

This app is one of the best things about owning an iPhone Reasons you need this app:1) You'll finally read all the great writing from long-form periodicals and blog-posts that you've been skipping or skimming during your work day.2) You'll have something fulfilling to do during long flights, subway rides, road trips where you're in the backseat, etc.3) You'll have a good, quick way to show off your iPhone to jealous friends. [Labyrinth works well for that too]4) You're supporting a gifted indie-developer with lots of great ideas for where to take this (and other) project(s).5) It's a bargain for what it does.Take the plunge.

The Killer App. ISANELY GREAT UPDATE: Good news, My review below was incorrect. The tilt center point resets every time you toggle the "tilt scroll on/off" button. So you get comfortable and then turn scrolling on, and you are centered on that axis. So Kudos. One SUGGESTION: Make the tilt/scroll direction user selectable. I'd like to tilt it toward me to advance, but it's permanently set to push away to move forward, which is weird to me.Thanks!Great APP!-Mark.Never again suffer to read a website article that isn't formatted for mobile. No more snaking around graphics or resizing, or panning around. 2 clicks away ('read later' in browser, 'refresh' in instapaper) and now it reads like a dream. You control the fonts and sizes, it controls wrapping the sentences on the screen, and you control verticle scrolling with a the usual scroll gesture or by tilting the handset, it controls remembering where you left off reading if you jump to other articles or apps.ONE SUGGESTION- a calibrate button so you can set the zero / neutral point on the tilt axis, so one could read in bed looking up at the device, or hang upsidedown like batman and read, and the tilt scrolling can still work by being be center-able (calibrated as 'at center') at any position. Currently tilt scrolling only works if the phone is held verticle on it's long axis .

Paying My Dues I experimented with the free version today, and I just can't let myself take advantage of the developer, so I plunked down my $9.99. I think it will be well worth it. And I'm looking forward to exploring the features other reviewers have described.Nice job, Marco!

I love this app I held out in buying this app because I thought $10 was too expensive. But I finally gave in and bought it. It's become my favorite app. I download tons of stuff to read every day and then I read in bed or during spare moments. The scroll reading mechanism masterful as is the font enlargement ( for those of us over 45).

Game-changer app I downloaded Instapaper Free and loaded up my iPod with a bunch of "read later" material before going on a business trip. Two articles into my flight, it was clear that buying the Pro version was a no-brainer. Instapaper works flawlessly and truly transforms the experience of reading online content. I absolutely love being able to so easily flag things via a bookmarklet on any of my machines or my iPod, sync, and take it on the road. I'm using Instapaper Pro every day, and it's exactly the kind of app that I want to support.

Well worth the paid upgrade The best software exploits the unique capabilities of its platform, identifies annoyances in the user experience (even if they’re small ones) and figures out creative ways to get around them. Meet Marco Arment’s Instapaper Pro for the iPhone.Even if all it did was save web articles for later reading offline it’d be a beautiful thing: Just click on a “Save” bookmarklet in your web browser and the text is, well, saved for later reading on the Instapaper site. So far, so good. It’s in its integration with iPhone, though, that Instapaper really gets to the good stuff. Stuck in line at the bank? Underground in the subway? Just open the app and you have a library of personalized web content available for your reading pleasure. All those articles and longish blog posts you meant to get back to someday? Now you can. You can read in a styled web view or a plain-vanilla text view, or even open an article for viewing in Mobile Safari. (Why you’d want to is beyond me, but the option is there.) Delete an article and the deletion is synced back to the web site.All this is sweet, but the paid Pro version, just out in the App Store, introduces new features that positively make me swoon. Duck out of an article and return later, and the app remembers where you stopped reading. Text too small? Embiggen it. Don’t like Georgia? Read in Helvetica or Verdana. Want to pass an article on? Email it from right inside the app. Best of all, Arment’s used the accelerometer in a totally cool, supremely useful way that blitzes the iPhone’s sometimes-wonky page scrolling: Tilt the phone back and the article scrolls down. Instapaper Will Change The Way You Read Online Content It did for me, anyway. For years, I'd have the same old system. An interesting article comes into my feed reader, gets opened in my browser to be read later, and eventually gets lost in a browser crash, or gets culled a few weeks down the line when I have too many tabs open. With Instapaper, I actually read things! Open an article, hit the bookmarklet, and the peice is ready for me to read on my iPhone during my daily commute.Ten bucks is a steal for an application that makes reading online fun again. Paradigm Changing Application I very much agree with all of the reviews -- this app has single-handedly changed the way in which I interact with the internet. The ability to save full-text versions of blog posts and web pages to Instapaper and read them offline on the iPhone transforms just about any mundane time-wasting situation into an opportunity to read and stay informed. The pro version makes things even better than the free version, but there is still a ways to go. It is frustrating that oftentimes I learn only when it is too late that a web page I tried to send t Instapaper was not translated into text and is not available for offline viewing on the iphone. I understand that certain sites just do not permit downloading (because of login requirements or the like) -- but isn't there some way to also permit Instapaper to have a clipping service like Evernote where I would highlight the actual text and that would be copied into my reading list? That would allow Instapaper to work with sites that require subscriptions -- like the Wall Street Journal. But even more importantly, some means of getting notified when an entry failed to work would be enormously helpful.But, at bottom, thanks for an awesome application that I am quite sure will only get better with age. Changed my way of working I've been a huge fan of Instapaper Free for a while now. Rather than speed through an article to quickly get back to work, click the Instapaper favelet in your browser toolbar to save it for later reading. Instapaper Pro added the feature I missed in the Free, the ability to email articles to friends. Well worth the $10, but try the Free version first! - Instapaper review by ny47
Instapaper Pro is my most used app I'm very pleased with Instapaper Pro and use it everyday. Last week we were on vacation in Maine. Usually I pack several books, but this time I just saved a lot of interesting material via Instapaper and when there was down time, I just pulled out my iPhone. Another benefit, since our hotel charged for wireless access and I chose not to pay for it out of spite, was to click on articles linked by emails I've subscribed to, then click on Read Later and let the Instapaper web page download it (in other words NOT wait for the web page to load on my iPhone via AT&T). Then later, after saving several articles, I hit Update in the Instapaper app and put the iPhone down and let the app load my iPhone while I did something else for awhile. Great App! I read about Instapaper in an app review article and instantly downloaded it. It's probably the only app I use everyday. I absolutely love Instapaper free but as soon as I saw the pro version I bought it. It is well worth the money! The free version did not save where I left off in the article and it was frustrating to have to scroll to get back to the spot. With the pro version the problem is solved! Essential For the iPhone, and your desktop I first started using Instapaper when Marco released it as a web app. It's simplicity was intriguing, and it quickly became an essential part of my daily workflow. When the iPhone came out, I used the web version from it, not realizing there was a true app available. A quick search one day made me very happy when I found the free version. It's great. Then I found the Pro version. Easily the best $9.99 I've spent on iPhone apps. The ability to read web sites offline (I have horrid AT&T coverage where I live) made the Pro version a must have. Tilt Scrolling! Tilt scrolling is amazing! I wouldn't be surprised if it became a native iPhone feature. It's a brilliant way to read text.

Tilt Scrolling is sweet! I really loved instapaper free and I was more than happy to pay for instapaper pro for its new tilt scrolling feature. I love it.
