FEATURES
• Push Notifications—When a Growl notification pops up on your computer, it's sent to Prowl and displayed on your iOS device within seconds.
• Sweet application support—Prowl has support from a bunch of cool applications and services. Check out the full list at <http://prowlapp.com/apps.php>.
• Redirections—Launch a different application when you open a push notification. For example, a notification from your desktop Twitter client can relaunch into your favorite mobile client. You can even pick custom URLs to launch, so you can go anywhere!
• Email to push—Use your Prowl email address (from the Prowl homepage's "API keys" tab) to get email delivery right on your device. Generate as many email addresses as you need!
• An amazing API—Use the Prowl API with a multitude of libraries in various programming languages. You can send notifications from anything that can talk to the internet, and do some fun things along with it.
• Quiet Hours—During the hours you specify, only the badge numbers are updated. No matter the source. Instead of getting a noisy alert, messages are quietly delivered. You can allow emergency-priority items to break quiet hours.
• Control—Open the edit view to get a quick glance at your notifications, and do away with pesky ones. Quickly copy, email or SMS a notification directly from Prowl (depending on device and iOS version).
• History—Up to 10 days of notifications are kept on the server. You can delete notifications that you don't want to see any more, or remove all of your history.
• Customized notifications—Only events you want are sent to Prowl. You can specify all kinds of conditions from the Prowl plugin for Growl.
• Send any message to your device—From the Prowl website, you can send any text to your device: links and phone numbers are automatically linked, so you can easily navigate around without having to worry about typos. From the website or API, you can also automatically redirect to the attached URL.

Great for on the go updates!   Prowl is a great application for people constantly on the go! It's great to be able to see what's going on when you're not at the computer. Being able to send my self notifications from the website is a life saver instead of typing notes on the actual phone. Definitely recommend this app to any "busy body" out there!

Wonderful idea expertly executed   I use Growl extensively on my computer, often to notify me of tasks which will complete hours or more later. I've only been using Prowl relay those messages to my iPhone for a short time, but I'm already in love!

awesome, incredibly useful and works great!   ive been using prowl and it works great, i receive all the notifications i expect to receive and its quite snappy too! (no, you WONT receive prowls when your computer is turned off. you dont get growl notifications when your computer is off so why would you expect to get prowls?!) if youre crafty the possibilities are pretty endless, especially with the API.some people have complained about a possible connection timeout on wifi connections, but i contacted the dev instead of just dropping an uneducated negative review and he said its just a little database flaw that he is already fixing. not only that but i can say ive never experienced it myself!looking forward to prowl 1.1, i hear there are a lot of great new feature additions.

I've been waiting for something like this!   It's hard to describe how useful this application really is - I use Growl for a lot of stuff on my Mac, and it's nice to be able to receive some of those notifications on my iPhone as well. For example, the delivery status widget (available from Apple's downloads section) pops up and update for my package, and that notification is immediately forwarded to my phone. It definitely beats refreshing a webpage to check a package status!
The beauty of Prowl is that it isn't limited to just one thing - it does whatever you need it to. If you want it to forward Mail notifications, that works. If you want to be notified when someone messages your on AIM, you can do that. If you want a message saying that your download completed in Transmission, that's as simple to configure as anything else. This is definitely a 5 star application. Simple, but as powerful as you want it to be.

Brilliant   What an amazingly well executed app! This is perfect for those of us who want to be notified of changes to a different computer or server (network changes, battery time, disk space), app alerts (twitter DM or @ messages), new email from an account not on the iPhone or perhaps even file download completions. Coupled with Growl and a little AppleScript, you can be notified of virtually anything, anytime, anywhere.

Really nice app, works as expected. Useful if you use Growl but are away from your Mac.   This app basically adds push notification to your Growl installation on your Mac. If you have a torrent client or IM client that you have installed, it makes it easier to check on those apps without actually visiting your Mac. Only drawback, due to no fault of the author, but due to the nature of Growl, is that you can only see the message that Growl displays and can't click through like you can on your Mac. Regardless, this app is very useful and can see it being very handy in the future. Additionally, the developer is very responsive and actively solicits feedback and feature improvements.

So simple, yet so right   Such a great idea, such a simple yet perfect implementation. Works as advertised and does exactly what I need it to do. For those not sure about what "Growl" is, just some of the things I can now get via push notifications: weather, news scores, tweet mentions/direct messages (could do all tweets on my timeline but that's too much:)), every announced concert that matches with an artist in my iTunes library, iCal reminders, weather notifications; really this app is only limited by what the growl community has come up with. This app is going to get a lot of attention and deservedly so. Hopefully this has a reverse effect of creating some more innovative growl compatible apps. My only minor, and it is extremely minor nitpick is that the UI and Icon could be prettier and perhaps blend in a little more with the rest of the iPhone UI, but really, the app is only there so that I can get the push notifications. This would be a five star app if the UI was all neon colors, it's not enough to offset the extreme usefulness here.

Swiss army push notification tool!   For a couple of bucks, now I can send any push notification I please to my iPhone from perl, plain HTTPS, or, yes, even Growl. Setup is a snap, and it just works. Not only is it going to be great for Growl-enabled event notification ("torrent is done!"), but I foresee hooking into Prowl from lots of custom AppleScript, perl, shell, and web-based tools, too. Awesome iPhone "glue". Great idea, great implementation; five stars.
