UPDATE:
As of this last update, a forced menu system is in the sub menu once you select a budget item. That's an extra click for viewing transactions in that category. Annoying, to be honest. If it gains any more complexity, I'll have to get something else as the point of the nice fit is as few clicks as possible to operate on the fly while paying for dinner or rent, or whatever.
Still a nice app, but starting to lose it's luster after using it for nearly a year only to have extra complexity being piled on. The interface was intuitive enough as of was.
Reducing from 4 to 3 stars.

Complicated As much as I want this app to work for me, I'm finding it very difficult to use. I wanted one app to keep a budget and track my account balance, which this theoretically does, but the interface just isn't very helpful. For an easier budgeting app, try Ace Budget or Spend.

tricky to figure out, but great once you get it how to use: hit the blue arrow next to the category you want, then edit to enter amount and duration of budget. then to add day to day speanding tap the category name (from the "home" budget screen) then the (+) and enter what you spent and any other details you might want. i didnt like it at first, it seemed hard to use. but play with it a bit and you will like it. - Budget review by aukake
Nice App This is a nice basic app for keeping a budget. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't expect anything Earth shattering here but it does it's job and does it well. The people that posted reviews saying it's confusing probably wonder how much postage for email costs these days. Seriously folks, took me 2.3 seconds to figure out how to remove the default entries and create my own. The user interface isn't written for a 2 year old but it's not rocket science either. While I'm still testing the full features of this app, if I find myself wanting to use it more and more, I'll drop Excel on my Mac as my budget app of choice. So far the only feature I'd like to see added is a "difference" sumation. Basically it would take your total income minus total expenses and show you your difference (hopefully positive! lol). Great app but some simple usability issues I researched just about all the budget type apps out there and decided on this one for the price and the screen shots looked like it was what I wanted. For the most part it is, as many others have wrote yes, there are too many screens to go through but I can get past that BUT a couple of glowing issues almost made me delete it and buy another. First, when I create a new category and set a budget for it the display bar is blue. If I say add an amount less than what the budget is set to i.e. make a payment towards something the blue bar now is shortened and the rest becomes grey, doesn't make sense. Display the bar in grey, this is the initial amount set as a budget for a category, then as payments are made display the progress in blue. It’s very confusing to a user to see it all in blue and then change. Similar with the amount totals listed on the bottom.Total budget, what the user sets is in grey, as is expenses (so is savings, but not a concern here) again, when I add a new category it should show in the grey not also in the black, the black is only what is actual, not budgeted. In both cases it only changes after I add a transaction to it. It took me several times playing around to understand what was going on because, it is not what I expected to see.Other than that, great app, won't delete it and look forward to updates.p.s.be nice to see a comparison of what is budgeted and what has been spent in comparison, other than a chart. - Budget review by ManFromTexas

Difficult to understand, maybe useful There seems to be more features than the simpler app "Spend" but it's navigation and user interface is somewhat confusing. There is the ability to plot trends, but it isn't entirely clear how that's helpful, other than offering a visual version of what is already available in list format. Some of the features aren't clear either and there is no manual. Maybe there is something more powerful here but all in all, I don't find it helpful. - Budget review by tanuki boss
Don't belive the gripes! I've read a lot of reviews saying this app is user un-friendly and that it is difficult to comprehend . Not so at all I say. I found it easy to use and also to comprehend. I do agree that there are a lot of edit screens to tapp through but that is easy enough to get used to and only an issue when setting up and editing main budget categories. The app does what it says. It's a basic month to month budget tracker.
It would be nice if it calculated and displayed the diference between income and expense each month but for $1.99 I can't complain. Bravo and thanks! - Budget review by EpoxyResin
This App is TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT BUY!!! I bought this app because it was the more expensive of the budgeting apps and so I figured it would be the most powerful. I haven't tried the others but anything would be better than this. The interface is extremely clunky, in order to add a new 'budget' you need to go through FIVE screens! If you make a mistake you have to do it all again. There are also bugs - if you try to bring up the magnifying glass in the name-budget-screen, the program all but freezes. This was my first paid iphone app and I was hoping to stick it in my iphone app budget...I got too frustrated though and I barely made it past entering rent. - Budget review by cabecou
Great idea but poor implementation The Interface for this app is entirely too complicated. Not impossible to learn, but it takes WAY too many clicks to simply set an amount for a budgeted item. The UI needs to be completely rethought.Additionally, this app in its current state CONSISTENTLY crashes on my 2G iphone. I can tell when it's about to happen because responsiveness while tapping begins to lag. It crashed 4 times in 10 minutes while trying to add expenses to a budget category. Very Handy,... Once you play around with it a bit you can figure out how to use it. The software could use a few tweeks here and there like finding out the balance on your budget in the individual catagories you enter. Right On Target Surprisingly this app is one of the few I could find that were simple yet feature-rich enough to be truly helpful. I, like many of you, have downloaded most of the free money/budget apps and a few paid ones...none of which actually prove to be as useful as this app. It has helpful tip screens thoughout and makes it easy to learn in a very short amount of time. From allowing new categories to automatically alphabetizing them to giving you full control over repeating transactions, this app is a gem. If only my desktop software for Mac OS would make or complete a dedicated iPhone app like this one, I would be berry happy. However, until that day comes, I'll make good use of the export feature (CSV format) and import that data into my desktop software as needed.
One tip, especially if you have an iPhone case that makes it hard to type or touch the very edge of you screen, you might find it difficult to access the "other features" menu that is reached by pressing the little "i" icon at the bottom right of the main screen. I have to take my case off before I press that area of the screen.

Very Useful Application I wanted an app that I could quickly put in my daily expenditures and track my spending. This application does just that. It allows me to create different categories for my spending and also allows me to allot an amount I intend to spend on items that fall within those categories for a set amount of time (also customizable). Then the application provides not only a numerical representation of my spending, but also represents it graphically. It shows a bar underneath each category name to show my allotment versus my actual spending for the month, and also, in a line graph, shows the trend of my spending versus allotment over time. In other words, this inexpensive app has a lot to offer for people looking to better manage their budget and spending. That being said, there are things that could make this application even better. For example, showing a trend of spending versus income as a whole instead of only by category would be nice. Furthermore, being able to export the graphs/information as a pdf or something would be great as well. Overall, this is a very simple application to use. I had no issues with it whatsoever. Just pay the few bucks and play around with it, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, and don't forget to add the purchase to the list of your expenses. - Budget review by uclamatt
Hard to figure out but very useful! This is actually a very good app. once you figure it out and set it up it will show your entire budget, your average monthly income, your individual expenses and it adds it up to your expenses for the month. Works great A nice little app. I've been using it every day to track my expenses. Like the fact that you can set a monthly budget rather than just inputing items. Easy enough to add your own categories.Can't figure out why people say it's confusing. There are inputs where the default is set for you. Perhaps people think those cannot be changed.
