Closest app with turn-by-turn directions. Love the landscape mode and the little icons along the bottom. Good to see Google get some competition. Now I can't wait until OS 3.0 to see what AOL can add to this great app!

Needs Work: Great Potential It's an okay app, but it is not ready to compete against the Google built-in map app. First, when searching a store or restaurant, if they are not within the portion of the map displayed, they are not found. Whereas, the built-in map app will zoom out and show the location of what you are looking for, even if it is quite a way off. Secondly, the symbol used for your location, is usually off to the side of the road. When driving down the interstate, the map shows me driving down the median or off in the ditch somewhere. Lastly, after entering the info for "directions," it will not display your moving location on the map like the built-in map does. Needs a lot of work, but has great potential.

More options than gmaps I normally don't review apps but this was worth it. The direction list, one touch places, distance from location updater, category quick tap and simplicity make this app at least as good as google maps and probably better. I'm very impressed

Nice features, inconsistent search results This app has potential to be pretty sweet. They're on the right track.
Found it annoying that I can type in the same address and it will not find it, and then it will find it the next time, and then it won't the next... What's up with that? Anyway, keeping pitching - looks promising.

Missing out on basics. It has a lot of features but the loading of the map takes too long and the maps aren't up to date, it's not showing a big bypass road near my house that was built 2 years ago. So as of now I prefer the google maps, but would use this app if the above issues are fixed.

Has some things Maps should borrow I like how scrolling works, tiles start loading as soon as I lift up my finger since I don't have to wait for the map to stop sliding.
But there are areas where it feels unpolished. A shop in downtown san Francisco couldn't be found when I was zoomed out to the whole Bay Area. A route from my apartment to a place downtown took at least 15 secods whereas it was almost instantaneous in Maps.

Not there yet... The app looks great and incorporates many of the features I need from several different apps, but there is definately a problem here. I can tell the app to locate me, and it seems to work, but when I zoom in I see that it has placed my current location at least a half mile from where I really am. Huge flaw IMO. Mapping application on a GPS device should get that right out if the box and the margin of error shouldn't be 5 blocks.

Omg It has map with all new roads and subdivisions!! Many roads are missing on g maps but this has complete map!! Awesome for when I'm stuck unable to find new address when I am working.

Fantastic map app!!! Without a doubt this map app is extremely useful and it replaces the google map for searching common places (e.g., restaurants, bars, movie theaters, etc.). I took one star for the lack of Street View feature found in Google map. It would be great if the app can show showtime for movies and business hours for restaurants, shopping malls, etc. It should also include a search icon for locating banks and atm machines. In summary, the app like this is what makes people carry iPhone instead of dumb phone.

Not ready for primetime... I live in a huge metropolitain area (Fort Lauderdale/Miami) and this app couldn't even find my house. I typed the entire address several times and still no luck. The POI data seems very outdated as well. I will stick with Maps that came with iPhone. Still the best and most accurate.

Great UI! Wish it worked better. This app has a great UI. I just wished it actually worked. The detect my location didn't work for me - it shows me in Texas when I'm in Pennsylvania. I tried searching my home address and it refused to show any results. I'll keep an eye out for any fixes though - seems like a great app (when working).

Much more recently updated maps I like this app because MapQuest/NAVTEQ have much more current and updated maps; major freeway construction was done in my area over the past 5 years, but Google/TeleAtlas have not yet updated their maps to reflect this.However, MapQuest 4 Mobile still has a long way to go in matching up to the responsiveness and fluidity of the built-in Google Maps app. A small thing that I would really like in MapQuest 4 Mobile is the two-finger tap to zoom out.

Location features need work It is not intuitive how you get the application to track while you drive & there's no button to instantly locate you. When in landscape view of the list view, it does not always stay in landscape for some reason. Love the ability to avoid highways & tollways...
