Manifesto - Mayor Justin
A simple, efficient, and powerful news reader.
Manifesto is the best news/RSS reader on the iPhone.
Here is what iLounge had to say in their roundup of all iPhone RSS apps:
"Manifesto is a breath of fresh air: a robust, full-featured app missing only a couple of features."
"Manifesto is one of the most usable RSS readers for the iPhone OS, with a clean, smart interface, flagging and offline viewing support, a variety of options from which to add new feeds, and a well-implemented built-in browser view."
Check out the website for a detailed feature list, release history and developer blog!

A little dissapointing...   Was expecting more and better based on iLounge top honors but then it's hard to argue with the price given what the app offers.Pros: Nice clean interface, Saves for offline, Built-in browser, Easy bookmarking, Import from Google Reader, Discovers feeds on a web pageCons/Problems/Suggestions: 1. Crashes when trying to delete feeds if you tap on a feed name instead of on an icon to the left. Please fix it! 2. Really needs some kind of feed organization into folders or categories like News, etc. As a result hard to navigate if you have many feeds. 3. Would be nice for an icon with a number of unread items to change color after update so you can easily see which feeds got new items. 4. Would be nice to have a two-way sync with Google Reader or at least some way to import/export OPML file.

Getting There   I would love to give this app five stars but it crashes way too much. If it were stable I would be a very happy customer. Please fix soon.

Some promise but not the best out there   I really want to like Manifesto but have some real qualms. First and foremost the app crashes randomly when marking all feeds as red or when returning to the feeds after reading their full version from within the application. I also don't like that you must manually click the update buttont to update feeds each time to enter the application. Due to the stability issues and not particularly quick performance I've decided to go back to Feeds as my newsreader of choice. Note: I am using version 2.1 software on the iPhone 3G.

A worthy contender at a very fair price   Manifesto is a great news reader. It has replaced the free NetNewsWire on my iPod. All the features work as advertised and I haven't had any crashes. There are a few things I'd like to see improved. In order of most important to me:1) Allow for a larger font size in the list of articles and the summaries. The current font size is a bit too small.2) Give me the option to delete read articles when I want to, rather than needing to wait a day for the app to do it automatically. I've seen increased backup times since I've installed Manifesto, and I believe it's because of all the articles that are still there.3) Allow editing of the feed names (for instance, MacNN is displayed as MacNN | The Macintosh News Network and I'd like it to be just MacNN).4) Allow me to organize the order of the feeds list, and maybe even allow feeds to be put in separate folders. Thanks for the great app and I look forward to future versions. - Manifesto review by Railrider
Nice feeds app, however i can't say it is the best of the bunch due to...   1) Does not allow feeds to be organized into folders2) Feed sources are listed in alphabetical order by default, with NO ability to reorder the list of feeds3) The "aggregate" view for new articles that the developer seems to pat himself on the back for is flawed in the sense that the articles are organized and sorted first by feed source, and then within, by date/time. 4) Need ability to "search" for relevant feeds based on keywords from a source like bloglinesIf you are like me, you probably would rather have the articles organized by most recent date/time (across allfeed sources) with somewhere in the preview lines displaying the feed source of the article. At the very leastallow us to configure this view by either the developer method or the method that i suggested above5) Allow users to configure number of lines to be viewed in the previewNewsstand does most of the above, however I would have to say that Manifesto seems to be quicker in downloading of articles across the various feeds. I also like the ability to set the number of days to keep articles before autoremoving them. Also, the interface for manifesto is nice, clean, and intuitive but so is newsstand, however newsstandunbelievably does not display the timestamp of the articles anywhere whereas Manifesto does. - Manifesto review by ERdiesel
Locked up my backups on sync   UPDATE for 1.0.3: Still hangs the backup on syncing.Looks like a really nice reader. It could use a "Mark All Read" feature which applies globally, instead of for each individual feed. It is hard to catch everything up currently. The reason for only two starts is that is it locked up my backups on sync. I installed it on both a touch and an iphone, I set it up with my Google Reader account on the touch and used it only once. Immediately my backups which used to take seconds took forever. I canceled the backups twice after wating 10 minutes. Soon as I uninstalled manifesto the backups started working right again. I am hoping for an update which fixes this else I fear I simply wasted the purchase price as currently it is unusable for me. - Manifesto review by enilef
*The* best RSS reader available, in my opinion.   I am addicted to RSS feeds, and this reader suits my needs perfectly. At last count, I subscribe to 55 feeds, keeping current on at least 30 of them. The UI is intuitive and clean, I can flag articles I want to save, and old articles get purged automatically. It seems that Mayor Justin is going to be putting out regular updates as well, so there's a good chance that the app is better now as you're reading it than at the time this was written. The summary view is perfect for deciding whether I want to view the full article, which I can do directly in Manifesto. Also, the portrait/landscape pivoting is very convenient.Manifesto makes adding feeds very easy; just input the URL of the site you want to subscribe to and Manifesto will figure out the address of the feed for you. You can also import your list of feeds from Google Reader. It's applications like this that make me love the App Store. - Manifesto review by void *
Does anything cost this little in today's economy?   * NO MORE CRASHES WITH 1.0.2 *NewsNetReader went backwards with their latest upgrade. Moments after updating MacWorld had an article on RSS Readers. For anyone that appreciates attractive, fluid interfaces the $1.99 is a no-brainer.* Please have an option to remove Read Feeds instead of just graying them out.* Please sync with Google Reader or something desktop oriented so as to reference clippings.* Please make Flag This a button rather than a hyperlink. - Manifesto review by ntrigue
Best RSS Readed in the App Store   I give this app 4.5 stars! Awesome job!Ps: It would be great if you could add a feature to email ALL flagged articles and email ALL new articles. - Manifesto review by Zyber71
Awesome RSS Reader   Out of all the RSS readers out there, Manifesto is the best and has loads of potential. The reader is well organized and fluid. I was able to load all my Goolgle Reader feeds in a few seconds by adding my google login in the setup screen. I love having all my feeds aggregated. The developer has been extremely responsive and already has one update submitted to the app store with one more ready to go by the end of the week. - Manifesto review by MotionUS
Ok   It would be nice if the articles I never intended to read would erase by themselves. I clicked the option to take out articles after a day in my settlng menu but I still have 2843 unread articles. Fix please - Manifesto review by Jackjbhj
Has potential but significant issues for me with backups since OS 2.1 (still with v 1.0.2)   Updated 30, Sept 2008 - Unfortunately v1.0.2 still locks up my backups in iTunes (they never get more than about 20% done) Uninstalling Manifesto puts backups into working order. Might try it one more time whenever the next version comes. Or might just stick with NetNewsWire as it continues to improve and doesn't cause issues with backups for me.I like the app, I think it has a lot of potential but as mst1000 wrote it seems to interfere with the iPhone backup mechanism since the 2.1 OS update. My backups would never complete with Manifesto installed. Since uninstalling this program my backups take less than 2 minutes max. Hope the author can sort out the stability issues.R - Manifesto review by rixmb
wow unexpectedly nice   This works very well and functionally. I have tried every1 out there and my fav is google's online reader despite all the native apps, BUT this reader is genuinely just a FEW MINOR tweaks away from me calling it a legitimate standin for google reader. It's that good. It really is worth checking out. The price is very well suited. It is low on bells and whistle, but I love that about it. It has just the right amount of what u need. One thing would help is font style and size adjustability. I'd also like to be able to turn the new items badges off.
I noticed a bug in the landscape keyboard in the mini-browser. I'm sure u will find it easy. Please fix that.
Thank u developer - Manifesto review by WouldUdoit
Wonderful app, but...   Just the newsreader I've waited for — especially for the ability to import from Google Reader. But the biggest drawback for me was that it SIGNIFICANTLY increased my phone's sync time. Now that I've removed the app, the sync time is back to normal. Perhaps it's because I have a lot of RSS feeds, but please, Mayor Justin, could you address this problem in an update? - Manifesto review by BaileyMarkham
Best news reader!   This is the fourth I've tried and definitely the best! - Manifesto review by Mookypacka

Crashy, takes too long to backup phone   This program has a chance to be great...but my experience has been very poor so far. Very buggy and crashes often, for a host of different reasons--just browsing through feeds, just reading an article, or while updating--I crashed 4 times in 10 minutes and decided that was enough. Also, even with 2.1, backup times were ridiculously long, and I only had 25 feeds. Once I deleted the program, I backed up in under 2 minutes. I hope this gets better, but right now it's not worth it. - Manifesto review by mst1000
Love the app, but one major problem...   Cons:It renders the feeds poorly. The iPhone App "feeds" does a great job in rendering the text with including all the images, most my feeds have images, manifesto does not even show them or shows a blue "?", or when it shows them they are really small and the text wraps strangely around the small images making the text almost unreadable. Basically the meat and potatoes of this app is not working well yet.Pros:Love the import from google's "Reader" - wow love it. Also the overall functionality is great, good user interface (wish feeds had have those features). Love the flip feature, which flips the feed being viewed into the webpage without leaving the app, and back. I love the flagging as well as the New feeds.Overall I love this app, it could be one the best RSS app, if it were not for its poor rendering of the feeds themselves, I gotta be able to see the images and see them well, as well as other things (see the app "feeds" for reference). If that is fixed I will give it 5 stars. - Manifesto review by AlexMunich
Slow backup with this app   This is a great reader but like one of the reviewers mentioned, it completely slows down my backups (from a couple of seconds to over 40 minutes). I have more than 10 feeds loaded. I did not have this problem with other readers that I have used in the past. Fix this problem and this will be a five star app. - Manifesto review by fbfi3
Good app but crashes often   Many good features here for two dollars. Frequent crashes ruin an otherwise good app. Well worth the money if crash problem gets fixed. - Manifesto review by kamakalama
