Metlink's iPhone app gives you scheduled departures for trains, trams and buses throughout Victoria.

Over the air updates: Get the most up to date timetables as they are generated.
Search for stops: Find your closest stops, searching by name, line, suburb or ID.
Find nearby stops: Out and about somewhere new? Find your closest stops via GPS.
Timetables: Browse all timetables by travel mode and line.
Alterations: View live scheduled and unscheduled service alterations for the entire network.
Network map: Pinch and drag around the network with built in maps.
All timetables are stored locally on your phone, so it uses none of your data pack / cap when using offline departures. Only over the air updates, alterations and tramTRACKER™ use your data. We recommend updating the timetables using the over the air feature while on a WiFi network for both speed and data usage reasons.

This is very helpful Great app. All the info you need in your pocket. Syncs are a bit on the big side. Make sure you do it on wifi or aren't in a big hurry. Overall well done.

What I've been waiting for since July 11th 2008! Wow! Finally! I've been waiting for this to come since last July! There has been some attempts but I always told a friend of mine who's a programmer (in the hopes that he would sit down and write the app himself) that I was so bumped out that no one had yet integrated the timetables of metro Melbourne with the tram tracker capabilities of iTransit and the trip planner of well I think the other ones were SO bad I used to open up my browser and use metlinks website. Well now that I've changed jobs and gotten a car and don't needed as often as I used to, these guys come and make this great app! Typical. Anyways, I haven't had the chance to FULLY test it and although a friend has told me there was a glitch with the live tramtracking I still think this is for sure everything I have wanted and paid for in others that didn't deliver. OMG when I went to Sydney and bought that terrible terrible app someone made for over there...
Top pros: not only you can select (like on the website) start point and destination together with departure and arrival times, but you can actually pick the location on a map. Just tap where you wanna go!!! That alone is awesome. Tram tracking. Time tables. Next 5 trams. Nearby stops and estations. Can show you on a map how to get to a estations, etc.
Cons (or suggestions actually): they should make it like in the website that you can see a croquis of "walk to stop 5" and stuff like that just so you at least know if you should walk north or east or whatever once you get off.
Add that little feature that tramTRACKER has that you can input the number from inside the tram and get an stimation of how long it is going to take to get where.
And if these things get integrated into your planned trip (as if it were a turn by turn "we'll take you there" kinda thing. I know, I'm asking too much now.
All in all, the BEST of it's kind! I would have paid up to $10 back when I was using public transport everyday, and yet, they've made it free!! Great job guys.

nice but no support Very nice and has all the previous features of 'Metro Melbourne' whose author was bought I believe to do this one. However I could not get the Trip Planner part to work despite clickimg around on the map, the store support link just sends you to the Metlink home page which is not very helpful. They need to have a proper support page for this app.
