AutoStitch Panorama - Cloudburst Research
AutoStitch brings high-resolution, wide-angle photography to your iPhone or iPod Touch.
Have you ever wanted to capture a wider view in a photo? Do you sometimes wish you had a better camera? With AutoStitch, you can:
- Combine multiple photos to produce wide-angle panoramas with no visible seams
- Create beautiful high-resolution images of up to 18 megapixels
AutoStitch is the only app that can stitch images in any order or arrangement, including vertical, horizontal, or mixed arrangements. It achieves unmatched quality by using full resolution camera images rather than lower-resolution video input.
To get started, use any camera app to snap some overlapping photos from the same location. Then simply select the photos you wish to combine in AutoStitch and touch "Stitch". AutoStitch uses state-of-the-art technology that automatically recognizes and smoothly combines overlapping images, making panorama creation on the iPhone easy, fast and fun.
Features:
- Simple and intuitive interface. Just select images and touch "Stitch"
- Works with any arrangement of overlapping images taken from a single location
- Stitch any number from 2 to 20 or more images
- Crop the result with automatic or manual cropping
- Share your creations by email or upload to Facebook
- *New* Upload to Twitter!

Can't get this working.   I like the simple design of the application, so I'll give it 3 stars just for that.
But for the life of me I can't get this to work successfully. I select the pictures I want stitched, hit stitch, and it starts working on it...then crashes back to the homescreen.
I'll keep trying it out while I'm here at work and change the rating if I get it to work.

New version broken?   This app worked great until I updated to the new version today. Now when I try to load in the photos to be stitched the app crashes back to the home screen. I restarted my phone but still not working.
Great app if it worked!

3GS hi-resolution support???   Not if you plan to save your panoramic pic. In-app viewing is great, but when saved to photos the resolution drops to fuzzy junk. Support full resolution transfer to camera roll or make an "in-app" save feature and this could be the best photo app ever.

Good, but could be great   I don't consistently get great results from this app. Often it leaves out one or more images I select, and sometimes I get visible seams. On the other hand, it's fast and easy, and can stitch images that have been taken in a grid. I'm hoping the new update will clear up some of these issues.

low rez!   Shoot! Can't believe I paid before reading reviews about low resolution output. What's the point!!!? If I wanted low rez panorama I could just crop my photos to a skinny rectangle.

Extremely unreliable   This application is very unreliable on what it can stitch together. If there is a lighting difference in the seams of the photos it will not process it, it does not crop or do very good correction to the final photo when it does work, so you need a different app like Photogene to complete final processing. In all this is way to unreliable to trust taking pictures with. There is another app in the store that has less options for the number of pictures taken, but always works and makes a completely usable picture when it's done, look for pano apps and you'll find it.

FINALLY... an image stitching application that WORKS!!   I've downloaded my share of various stitching applications for the iPhone, and most all of them work, but not the way I 'expect' a stitching application to work. I'm used to the professional desktop stitching applications -- that render beautiful pictures with correct exposure and seamless stitches. I've always been disappointed in the stitching offerings for the iPhone -- as they don't correct for the various exposures from one image to the other, and the seams are pretty crude (some of them look like a three year old cut a bunch of photos up and glued them together).AutoStitch has done what all the others failed to do -- create a pain-free application that can take a variety of images and stitch them together to create a seamless image. Other applications have limitations -- you can only stitch a certain number of images together; they have to be all vertical or all horizontal; if the exposure isn't the same on all the photos you'll be able to see the obvious stitch line; etc. Not with AutoStitch. You can mix and match any number of vertical and/or horizontal images -- of any exposure... and still get a wonderful final image with no obvious stitch lines. The exposure compensation and blending is probably what excites me the most. As a test, I took a series of photos in my office with the lights off (just a little bit of outside light creeping in through the blinds and the light coming from my very large LCD monitor). Obviously the iPhone increased the exposure on the dark areas of the room to make them visible, but it lowered the exposure of the monitor (since it was a bright light source). Then I stitched the photos together by simply selecting all the photos from my photo album and the results were amazing. Even with the extreme difference in exposure between the shots, AutoStitch handled the alignment, distortion, stitching, and exposure adjustments very well. And that's a harsh test case -- so just imagine how wonderful your pano-photos will render when they're not taken under such extreme circumstances. The photo selection process was exactly how it should be -- easy. You just choose an album and then click on all the photos you want to include in the stitch. With other applications you have to go through an "add image" selection process for each individual image you want to use. With AutoStitch you select ALL the photos you want to use all within one screen. Nice.I am certainly going to have fun with this application... and the price is incredible considering how much the desktop applications cost. This would be a great 2.0 application, but the fact that it is a 1.0 application impresses me even more. Cloudburst Research really DID their research on this application. I hope to see more from them soon.Excellent application! Buy it if you have any desire to create stitched images or panoramic images! THIS is the application to own.PS: I am not associated with Cloudburst Research or even know anyone who works there, or even anyone who knows anyone who works there. Just in case you were wondering if my review were based on anything other than personal experience with the application.

Fantastic stiching app!   I've been using Pano to stich my photos together, and this app is far far better. Pano produced nice results, but you had to be pretty careful to make sure the pictures picture is properly lined up with the previous shot. With autostich, you can just go crazy with the camera and autostich will figure it out. Sure the resulting picture has a funny shape, but that is what the crop tool in iPhoto is for. This app is well worth the $2.

Great app!   I love this app. I've noticed some reviewers were having trouble getting images to stitch - others have shared a few tips with me that have helped improve my shots: 1) Move the phone, not yourself. The first time I used AutoStitch, I tried holding the phone out and I turned in a half-circle to get the shots. It turns out that's the wrong way to do it. To get the best shots, you should turn ONLY the phone on a vertical axis. The more the phone moves horizontally, the less likely your images will stitch together. 2) The less movement in the images the better. I've used this app to get some cool panoramas of skylines, nature, and stationary people. 3) Try to keep the focus/white balance about the same. If one or two of your shots are dramatically brighter or darker than the rest (because of something like backlighting) the app has a hard time stitching them together. Hope this helps!

Pc version was much smarter   There used to be a free app for the pc with same name and same featureset (all automatic), however this iPhone version consistently can't seem to stitch without major glitches, blurriness, things out of alignment.
Was also disapointed in the final rsolution. Being maxed to 1600 pixels. What's the point in that?

possibly my favorite impulse buy   I never really thought I needed or would use this type of application, but after reading a few recommendations and being tempted by a sale price, I bit. I have to say that I use this app so frequently now, I wish I had bought it sooner. No longer do I worry about trying to squeeze as much as possible into a single awkward shot... I just snap everything I want to include and let AutoStitch do its magic. It's everything an app should be: fun, useful, and easy to use.

Hands Down The Coolest!!!   'Love this App!! Want to give it 5 stars, just think it should have it's own camera inside the App. itself. Other then that, this is 'HANDS DOWN the Coolest App I've loaded on to my iPhone.. And I have 9 Full pages of Apps. I use this almost everytime I take a pic.. Ha, 'it's 'I'd say addictive when it come to seeing a full 180-360 Degrees in a photo 'you have taken. Great for posting Pan. pics on your myspace, or facebook page. Love this App.!! Hope to see it evolve even more in the near future, till then im having a BLAST!! ..Thanx!!

Amazing   Works everytime perfectly. Picture quality is impressive. Most importantly it is exceptionally easy. You take a series of pictures with a little bit overlapping, select all the photos, and the app makes a gorgeous panorama in a few minutes. This use to take so much time using Photoshop and now I can do it on my iPhone right after taking the photos.

Awesome!! But....   This app works great everytime I use it! I would recomend it to anybody but, I wish you were able to take the photos within the app instead of using your camera and having to delete all the pictures that were used.. But other than that, it's great

Great!   Works very well. you need to take the shots with quite a large bit of overlap, so it's not too great for moving subjects. But i've been very VERY pleased for the price. This kind of thing was very expensive and hard to do a few years ago, and now it's a few dollars on my phone.Works EXACTLY the way it should, Easy, Buy it.
