OVERVIEW “London Underground 09" is a superb map and route planner for the London Underground, Overground and Docklands Light Railway (DLR) services. So you can make a quick exit when you leave the train we have now added iexit information for all stations on the London Underground. This is one in a worldwide series of Zuti maps from Visual IT who have been producing public transportation maps for mobile devices for many years.
EXITS Now contains simple information on every Tube station indicating what carriage to use for the most efficient exit or transfer. Just tap on a Tube station and scroll down to see the exit information for each platform.
MAP The map is the official TFL (Transport For London) map. You can use your inbuilt GPS (will also work with iPod Touch devices) to accurately locate the nearest transportation stop and distance to it.
Tap on the map for location information, use the inbuilt search feature or choose from a list of locations. Places of interest, museums, hotels, parks, restaurant, shops, hospitals, streets, etc, are also included. The route planner will automatically suggest the nearest station to any place of interest you select.
As an alternative Visual IT also offer a unique geographically based map (see the “Travel” section for details of “London Tube 09”)
INTERNET CONNECTION The map and routing does not require an internet connection and you will not be charged data connection fees. This also means the application runs successfully underground and on an iPod Touch. The only feature that requires an internet data connection is the “Live Info” which is optional and if used only requires a small amount of data.
ROUTING Does not require an internet connection and will always be available to display a clear and detailed view of the city transport systems, plus list and animate the optimum route for your journey. Provides the fastest route calculations of any mobile routing application (virtually instantaneous) using actual published journey times with the ability to select the quickest route or the route with the least changes.
Comprehensive details of your planned route are provided, including changes, directions of travel, number of stops, predicted journey times, etc. Uniquely this application gives you “direction”, “towards” and “service frequency” information for each segment of the journey (not available on any other offline journey planner) for example “At Kings Cross change to the Hammersmith and City line (Eastbound) towards Barking for 3 stops. Service runs every 7 minutes” which is essential when finding the correct platform and connection. Also given are alternatives for each segment of the journey.
LIVE INFO When an internet connection is available, optional "Live Information" on the current state of the transport services can be viewed (and automatically saved for future reference) allowing you to plan your journeys in advance and avoid any potential delays. Far out! I checked out this app at their website and it is awesome! I will be in London for four days and have books, maps and everything else but this is the best way to get where you're going. All you have to do is enter your present location (touch) and then either touch where you want to go or search for a destination such as a museum, restaurant, etc. and it maps out the tube route for you. It tells you how many stops and which lines to be on. Additional info includes how much time between trains for transfers. I have been using this software on my Treo for many years It's much easier to use on the iPhone platform (well, that's pretty obvious, isn't it?) but it took me a while to figure out how to select the start and end stations if I don't already know where they are on the map. To search for a station or landmark, tap on the Information button, select the category (Stations is one of the categories), and when you select the station or landmark it is shown on the map. Now tap on the green (start) or red (end) button in the upper right hand corner of the screen to mark the station. Repeat for the second station then tap the route button and watch the magic begin.The coolest feature is that you can mark one or more lines out of service and Tube will find a way around the obstruction for you. It even features real-time updates so that you always know what is and is not running. On the downside, this first version doesn't have zooming capabilities and it is not yet integrated with the maps. Does what it says on the tin. Perfect For Any London Traveler I purchased this app for my trip to London and couldn't be happier.
First of all, the mapping feature works directly from the phone and doesn't use your phone network for the basic core functionality. When you're in a location with no signal, you can still use this app. It's great because you can check your route discretely and change it on the fly if you decide in the middle of your journey to go elsewhere.
The routing feature works great. I was in the city for 7 days, and one day, a few of the lines were closed. Having access before my venture to the tubes to the statuses live was very handy. Additionally, since a few were closed, I was able to disable the few closed lines and when routing it would show the alternate way to get to the location.
Having a list of things and places to visit is also handy. Kind of like having a tour guide in there as well.

Not useful unless you already know the station map I bought this app before a trip and was very disappointed. It's very visually attractive, but not so useful for someone who doesn't already know the Tube system. To plot a trip you have to know where on the map your start and end stations are located. It would make much more sense to be able to enter the name of a station or the starting and ending addresses. Must Have There's no way to do London efficiently without this app. I was able to go wherever without worrying about getting to the next spot. Without this app. I would've taken routes that were closed or not continue on to my destination. No way a visitor could do London efficiently with a pocket Tube map. Used this app on trip to London, surpassed expectations, this app was my guide in many ways. I took a trip took london on 10/23/2008, got to London's Heathrow airport, got luggage headed for tube station. Entered locations and less then a second, I was traveling around London, like I had lived there all my life, by the second week of my trip, I was actually remembering the stations and was not always use the APP! It teaches you which stations are in order and which ones to expect, the great thing is how fast you begin to use it and how much time it saves you too!
