Fantastic!! (From a Real Pilot)   I fly 2-4 times each week in connection with work. Despite spending thousands of dollars on "electronic flight bag" systems, I find that I often still lack things as basic as the textual part of a SID or STAR. For $9.99, I now have that (which, alone, justifies the purchase). Also, as a 100% IFR pilot, I rarely have sectionals, but they surely are nice sometimes for the "big picture." Congratulations on (and thank you for) a superb application at an unbelievably low price.

This app ROCKS!   As a pilot and a developer of charts myself this application just did all the work for me and at a great price. Just 1 paper chart costs me $12 bucks after shipping so having all these for less than $10 is GREAT!
I really like the zoom levels and the airport weather (ATIS/AWOS) auto-dialer as well. Thanks again!

Awesome App   This app is by far the most useful program a pilot can have on his/her iPhone. It is nice to see a program with above and beyond features while keeping it simple at the same time. This program was worth every penny (and some)! Keep up the good work and THANK YOU!!!

Need to fix the zoom; otherwise very good   Great to have all the Vfr charts you need in a plane. However, the lack of a sensitive zoom in/out really hampers this app. If that could be fixed (and I assume it could), this would be a great app.

Fantastic Resource   This program provides useful mapping information directly on your device. I like the feature that allows you can view A/FD and TPP information directly from inside of the program. If the program had distance calculation and a route line it would be perfect.

Sold My Garmin 496...   I have a Garmin 430 in our plane and I used to use my Garmin 496 as a backup. Not anymore! Skycharts works excellent as a secondary device in the plane. I love the caching feature so you don't rely on a cell connection. Yes, the zooming could use a little work and a few other small things but overall an amazing app! Thank You! Keep writing, I'll pay for future updates if you keep going with this concept!

Skycharts + X-Plane = AWESOME!!!!   I've been using Skycharts since it first came out. I love the fact that the developer is so responsive on his forum. He takes suggestions and implements them quickly! Now, it's linked up with X-Plane... very cool! It's really cool to be able to look at the REAL charts when in X-Plane!!!Definitely a must-have for any pilot or sim-pilot!Update: the new dialing feature is nice!! Thanks!

Great App, however I did have one small issue...   Used on a VFR cross-country yesterday. Very nice! I especially like the AF/D and Approach Plate functions - superb! I had one issue, however, and as I am new to the iPhone this may be "pilot error." I repeatedly got an "Unable to connect to the server" error. I turned off the wifi function in the iPhone and the error went away for some time but then appeared again. I'm perplexed by this. Any similar experiences out there?

Great app   What a cool idea! Would be nice if ifr charts were added.. - SkyCharts review by Geofa
Good Idea, but needs lots of work   I was excited to see someone develop a handy aviation chart app for the iPhone and I eagerly downloaded Skycharts. Unfortunately, the execution does not meet up to the promise for the app. First, you must download the charts for whichever area you want. Despite the 25MB size of the file, it is a painstakingly slow process and must be done over a wi-fi connection. Next, the app uses GPS to ascertain your position on the chart. It's a great idea and very helpful, but when you want to zoom into that area where you are located the app uses a highly unresponsive on screen sliding bar to bring you "closer" to the data you would like to see. I don't understand why the developers did not use the two finger zoom gestures like Google Earth to get you closer. The two finger zoom is a standard iPhone app procedure and it always mystifies me when developers ignore well established and logical conventions in favor of something that is obviously not as handy. - SkyCharts review by Torv Carlsen
Excellent! (revised 12 February 2009)   It is well worth the price. The iPhone's GPS and this app work together to provide an accurate depiction of your location on the sectional chart. Users can download sectionals that they want on their iPhone (so you will not be dependent on having 3G or WiFi access [you do NOT want to DL charts with Edge]). Yes the charts are large and take a while to download, but that is a consequence of the amount of data required to depict the charts in the detail that is offered in the app. My experience with a ±3m DSL is about 5 minutes per chart for download. Then, as long as I remain in that chart's area, no more Internet access is required for the charts. Works in portrait and landscape. The developer has, from the launch of the app, promised updates and fixes. This developer has followed through on that promise! The 2 finger zoom isn't implemented due to a conflict with the OS and the developer is waiting for Apple's response to this issue (see developer's website/forum).The newest version fixed all of the issues I had concerns with in the first version. This developer shows obvious (and deserved) pride in this app.For iTouch users, I have a colleague who uses the newest iTouch and he reports that the app works great on his iTouch as well. The latest update (1.3.1) is great! The most noticeable change is that the cached charts are now stored in a location which eliminates them from the iTunes backup up procedure, so iPhone backups are again FAST (much easier and quicker to download charts if necessary).I appreciate the new chart expiration feature. I keep several charts cached on my iPhone, so it is very useful to to be reminded when one expires. This new feature also serves as a reminder to buy the latest paper chart as well! This is in the top three of my favorite apps (all three are in a tie for favorite!). - SkyCharts review by HeloCaptain
