Fun toy, but not professional quality I purchased SpeakEasy to have a voice recorder readily available for interviews. After recording upwards of 15 interviews, I found that I could not get the recorded files copied to my laptop because SpeakEasy Connect would not work. I contacted technical support, and after taking a number of steps per their direction, ALL of my recordings were gone, and the software still would not connect to my laptop. I went through a number of rounds of emails with Zarboo tech support pointing their finger at iTunes, claiming that iTunes was not working properly. I took the computer to Apple, who verified that iTunes was working properly. Anyway, still can’t get the software to work properly, and I will never use it to capture important recordings again, as it simply not reliable enough for professional use.

This is just what I was looking for It's been a chore for those of us trying to navigate the obstacles Apple has put in our way when it comes to customizing the iphone experience to our personal needs. Speakeasy has been a help for me in that regard. I wanted a recorder that would let me do mobile work for the podcast I'm putting together and after reading the reviews I decided to drop the $1.99. Any more than that and I would have been leery about spending money on an app that I wouldn't know would work for me. I was initially disappointed because I couldn't get the recordings to download to my laptop. I couldn't find an answer on the web that addressed my issue either. The answers that I found to my problem were geared to the Mac. I sent an email to Zarboo expecting to get an answer in a week or so if I got one at all. To my surprise, the next day I had my answer and now Speakeasy and Speakeasy connect work beautifully. I am pleased. I've attached the response that Zarboo so promptly sent me. Maybe it can help someone else out there. with your own username:C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataApple ComputerMobileSync**** if you do not see this folder then perhaps you have your folder options set to hide some system or application folders.There simply drag the backup folder to your trash bin. Then unplug your phone, and plug it back in to ensure that a fresh backup is created. Please let us know how it turns out, good luck! >

LISTEN UP if you need to know how to import recordings. Alright, first things first. I LOVE this app. as it is by FAR the most often used app on my iphone, and as a music student, it is incredibly helpful. Now for the sweet stuff.......TO ALL THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW HOW TO IMPORT FILES ONTO YOUR COMPUTER, the software company who designed this app, Zarboo studios, have a website. On this website, you can download a program for your PC/Mac that will take your recordings and put them into a folder on your Itunes with you labelled as the artist. this program is EXTREMELY streamlined, and almost as easy to use as the Itunes sync process itself. I CAN NOT stress how fantastic this application is.

How do I get the files off my iPhone The sound quality of the recordings are by far better than any iPhone recorder out there. I'm not the least disappointed in the app. However, I just got back from a trip and synced my iPhone to iTunes and the recordings are not uploaded from my iPhone to iTunes. I launched a program called PhoneView hoping the files would show up in that program. They didn't. Simply the Best There are many audio recorders now available for the iPhone and this application is by far the best of them all. It is the most feature rich, easy to use, and powerful recorder on the iPhone. I have been using audio recorders from the days of unofficial apps and this one is so much better and off to a great start. I have tested the other ones and this one just blows past the rest. Very smooth workflow, nice app The workflow here is really nice. You launch the app and it shows you a big record button, which turns into a big stop button as you record. You can tag a recording with a title, comments, category, and a photo so it is really easy to identify them later, even without listening. For example, tag a recording of a lecture with a photo of the lecturer. You need almost no prep time before recording (just the time it takes to launch the app) and the tagging is very quick and easy. Even after making quite a few notes, I found that I could scroll through the collection of recordings and identify them very easily by the title and photo, go right to the one I'm looking for. Nearly Perfect Here's the deal: I was looking for a recorder I could use to record music rehearsals (I'm a singer). I wanted to find one that I could pause while recording (there's so much stopping and starting when you're learning a new song), but I wanted to keep it all in one file (per song). This software worked perfectly for that. The sound quality a few feet away from the piano was truly excellent; voice quality was excellent, really crisp. I wish there was a way to import these files off of the iPhone and into iTunes. Other than that, I recommend this software without hesitation. Excellent for Recording Music and Voice up to 44,000 Khz, 750 Kbps Mono!!!! This app takes full advantage of the iPhone's microphone's capabilities by recording at up to 44,000 Khz Data Rate and 750 Kbps Bit Rate in Mono.The iPhone and iPhone 3G's mics can only record in mono at the time of this writing and so this is the best solution if you need to record music or voice at the highest possible data and bit rate. I was fortunate enough to be a beta tester for the upcoming release of Speakeasy Connect which is a desktop based client that searches your iPhone's backup file(s) for Speakeasy recordings. Once it finds all of the recordings, it imports the files into iTunes as mono 64 kbps aac files. The software also gives you the option of importing the recordings in their "raw" format as "CAF" files into your documents folder at the original 44,000 Khz Data Rate and 750 Kbps Bit Rate in Mono. This is phenomenal because you can then convert these puppies in Quicktime Pro or Soundtrack Pro (I think?) into AIFs which you can then convert down at a rate that you choose (rather than letting iTunes decide the 64 kbps rate for you). During the beta testing, I found that this raw "CAF" import option was not in the application and I requested that the developers try and come up with some sort of solution to allow the importing of raw audio files. The developers came up with a solution in a day and had me beta testing it in no time. To say the least, my experience with the APP and its DEVELOPERS has been nothing short of amazing and excellent. Great for interviews and surveillance notes I work as a private investigator and conducting interviews is a major part of my job. I recently used the recorder during an interview today for one of my clients. The location was less than desirable with a lot of background noise and a fair amount of wind. I was a little worried at first on how well the telephone would pickup the witnesses voice as they spoke very softly. Well, after my 45 minute interview, I checked the recording back in my car and was elated at how well the recording came out. I was able to hear and understand everything said during the interview. This turns the iPhone into a high quality voice recorder and phone in one - wow.Cons: Would like to have the option of moving/transferring/syncing the recordings to my computer from the iPhone. Good sound The more I use it, the more I like it, even though I have 3 other recorders on my phone. I've contacted the developer about a minor issue, which none of the other recorders have either; it would be nice to be able to choose between phone, speakerphone and a bluetooth headset. Sound quality is excellent. I'm able to record very clear messages, even while driving, with the window down. Best sound quality of the 4 recorders I'm trying.An advantage of using the phone speaker is going through a store and listening to my list; and not sharing. The Best of the Bunch and Worth the $$$ This is the reigning champ of all the available voice recorders at this time. The others are fine but miss all the little touches and make some strange interface choices where this one is clean, simple, and a pleasure to use.There was some initial confusion about the volume on this app - the playback went through the earpiece and not the bottom speaker as many assumed. Also a great 'on the go' recorder for notes to yourself I needed a recorder for making quick voice notes to myself. While SpeakEasy has a wealth of features for high end recordings it's also perfect for my needs as well. It uses a 'badge' to show how many unplayed recordings I have so I don't forget them later on. It also has a nice BIG record button to press so it's very easy to use when you only have one hand available such when you're walking and remember something to do. Then when your done recording you can simply press the 'Home' button to have the app save the recording. So it only takes a couple of taps to complete! I also emailed the developer with a question about the app and they responded with a very helpful tip in only a couple of hours. Best App on My Phone With the different recording qualities, and now the software to get my files onto my computer, through iTunes, this is the best recording app in the store so far. I don't care about voice memos; but now I can use my phone to record long interviews and then back them up to the Mac. That rocks. I was looking for something to record music i write or rehearse, and it picks up singing voice very well. I even recorded a song i played out of macbooks itunes, and it sounded crisp and clear! Intuitive, well-designed software I just downloaded your software last night and I'm amazed at the qualityof the recording! I jam with a friend once a week and when we don't have alaptop to record on we use my cell phone. I was recording with a SamsungBlackjack and was happy with how easy it was to quickly record a song ortrack. However, the quality is low and since it wasn't an iphone it was apain in the butt to get the file off the phone. As an example, it wouldrecord at 3 minute song in a 300k compressed wav file. It was bad.Your software is awesome! The interface is great, streamlined and simple.It was very intuitive and I enjoyed using it for the first time last nightwhile I was jamming. It also did a great job of capturing 2 acousticguitars and vocals without getting any white noise or fuzz in thebackground.
