Awesome I've downloaded tons of applications and never been inspired to write a review, but this app is brilliant. At its core, it's a streaming audio player. Okay. There are a few of those. But add to that the ingenius multitasking features and it is really worth raving about. If you turn off the "quick play" option, it streams music in the background through Safari, allowing you simultaneous access to all the other features of your iPhone, except for web browsing on Safari (since Safari is otherwise occupied with the streaming). Okay. That's great -- really great -- but the same functionality was already possible from these same folks simply by going to the FlyTunes website. So what does this add (besides the convenience of a standalone app, rather than having to surf through the FlyTunes website)? Well, if you turn "quick play" on, you listen to the music through the FlyCast application, not through Safari. So you can't run it in the background and use other iPhone features at the same time, since apps can't run in the background. But they've built a web browser into the application that works while you're using the FlyCast music player! So if you want to do something other than surf the web while listening to streaming audio (e.g., read an ebook, write an email, or play a game), turn "quick play" off, let Safari handle the streaming, and do what you want to do while the music plays in the background. If you want to surf the web, turn "quick play" on, stay within the FlyCast Mobile application, and use the built in browser. Too cool. I only just downloaded it, so I can't vouch for whether or not it crashes, but so far so good!

EXCELLENT!! It DELIVERS everything I expected from Tuner and DID NOT GET! I LOVE this app!! I can now truly listen to all my favorite SHOUTCAST streams! I've wanted an app like this from day 1 when the original iPhone came out. I can bookmark my favorites, it switches stations with ease. Also, the sound is amazing. There are no EQ settings, but its sounds really good on my earphones and also when I plug in my stereo cord or dock it. I have all my talk, music, genre's, you name it. It's like having a little winamp in my pocket!! I'M IN LOVE WITH MY IPHONE AGAIN!!! And with the 2.1 update, I get significantly more play time somehow. I listen on 3G and it lasts more than 4 hours. If you're a SHOUTCAST fan, this is the app you've been waiting for!

VERY Promising application Many of the stations have excellent sound. Really similar to sat. radio. It does crash every now and then as others have said, not hang at least, and just goes back to home screen. Overall really cool now - with more stability it'll be stellar!

been waiting for this im not sure what other apps compare to this but i was specifically waiting for this one. same as flytunes.fm you can tune in many stations from 80's, 90's to metal and reggae, you can keep a favorites list and it now has visualizations with the name of song, artist, album, and album art. the best feature is you can go into history and tag a song which will open itunes store and find that song which you can then purchase.

Promising but not ready for primetime. This free application has a lot of promise, and promises a lot of nifty features. Unfortunately, not all of them actually work as of right now. Try as I might, if I try to access any of the stations from my "favorites" list, the application crashes. I've restarted the phone and even reinstalled the application, but it is to no avail, the favorites crash each time. Among the other options that do not seem to work for me (or perhaps I am doing something incorrectly) is the option to play music in the background, that doesn't seem to work either. It seems to bring up some sort of link in mobile safari, but nothing ever comes of it after that. I should give credit where credit is due, the one feature that is really nice, and works relatively well, is that flycast has a built in web browser that allows you to surf while listening to a station. The built in web browser actually works well (like any other app it has it's share of crashes) and allows you to stay within the app and surf and enjoy some music. Once the other features are polished up and made to work, this app will be something that almost everyone will want on their iPhone/Touch.If Flycast is updated with new features or so that its current features work more consistently, I will definitely update my review/rating to reflect that.

Absolutely Amazing - When It Works, That Is... UPDATE: I changed my review from 4 stars to 3 because the FlyCast server is frequently down. Perhaps this is due to everyone trying this out at the same time, but until the service is more reliable it's hard to recommend. It's not my coverage, as I tried both WiFi and 3G, and all my other 'radio' apps (Pandora, AOL Radio) work just fine.My new favorite application, I love it. This arguably replaces Pandora as the best music app for the iPhone. Quality is top notch (I tested it on 3G with speeds of 600-700kbps in my area). The interface is clean and professional looking (something I can't say about many iPhone apps). The only issues I've had are random crashes (hopefully the iPhone 2.1 update will fix this) and some stations either not loading or playing at all (I could not get CarTalk to play, and I couldn't get one of the comedy channels to load, instead getting only the spinning wheel). All in all, an OUTSTANDING iPhone application that everyone with an unlimited data plan should download. I can't believe it's FREE!

EPIC FAIL! Was a great idea and worked after I first downloaded it. The next few times I've tried to use it the app can't make it's connection to your servers or wherever the streams come from. If it can't play music, it's a failure. Better luck next time.

Quality Audio - Surprisingly good! Here are few drawbacks:- Don't know how to add a favorite- Exiting the app cut the music (guess it's a limitation of the iPhone)I only used over wifi, but it's a bomb!

Actually usable while driving After trying aol radio and last.fm, neither was able to reliably hold on to the signal while driving. Flycast's impressive buffering is definitely the key. Good work!
Now the only thing I need is the ability to favorite a station, which I can't seem to figure out how.

Mobile radio on my iPhone! So far, this application is working perfectly for me. The download was fast and the interface is intuitive. I was able to pull up KCRW out of San Diego and KEXP in Seattle with no problem. Great work!
