Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards reviewed by Users
Nice but not practical   Sure these are the same as the netters cards you can buy. Sure these are nice and pretty and have a cool zoom interface and all...but when you get them they really are just a novelty. The one thing that makes these better then the paper cards is the index/search function. This allows you to very quickly find a certain part. But, you still would be much better off buying the paper cards for several reasons:1. The quiz mode sounds nice, but it cannot go beyond a single card. It will only quiz you on the card you have open, and many of the cards only have a single pin in them, so it is pointless. It would be nice to be able to pick several cards and have it quiz you on that. Quiz is pointless.2. It doesn't remember what card you were on if you close the program, so each time it closes you have to load it back up, and find where you were. (small inconvenience but significant over time)3. It is very laggy. I will push the next button 6 times before it goes to the next one (again just a small inconvenience)4. It is more expensive then the cards themselves, which you can resell when you are done with them. The app you cannot (very important for us poor med students!)5. Its an app, so if you are going to be using it over extended periods of time, it is going to drain the battery life out of your phone pretty fast.EDIT on Version 1.2: The favorites function is much appreciated, but while the update details say it has state saving...it DOES NOT!

Now I can show clients what is going on with their bodies   I am a full time Theraputic masseur. I got this to bone up on my anatomy as I head back to school. But it is so small and compact that I can show a client just exactly what muscle or bone is giving them trouble without digging through a huge intimidating book. Plus as I am heading out on vacation I can study while on an 8 hour fleight instead of bringing along a big book. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by masterblair
Better download to your computer first   I downloaded this direct to my iPhone & it refuses to back up to my Mac via iTunes - unlike other apps purchased today. Other than that, it's a little slow on a 2.5G iPhone and it takes awhile for various sections to load. Responsiveness of touching the locator pins is a bit mushy as well. Graphics are top notch. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Tristan of Ynefel
A good start, but lacks important features   This application brings the classic medical illustrations of Frank Netter to your iPhone. I purchased the application to use as a visual aid with patients. On the positive side-- this seems to be a very complete atlas. Most of Netter’s fantastic basic anatomy images are there. The quiz function will be a good study aid for students. I do feel that the application has several flaws: 1. It loads slowly. (This interferes with using it in a busy practice setting.) 2. The images cannot be rotated to landscape mode. 3. The pins, when present, obscure the illustrations. It would be nice to have a mode in which you could point at one structure to identify it. 4. Some of the images cannot be magnified adequately. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Turing Test
Awesome   Oh, if only I had this app when I was taking Gross Anatomy. I made my own flash cards back then. (It was while the dinosaurs roamed the earth, afterall.) This app takes a while to sync to your phone. Don't get concerned — it's just bigger than your average iPhone app. I love the quiz feature, though I wish it would grade me and keep track of improvement, like my WiiFit does with my yoga moves. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by KateW
Great App (but add ability to bookmark PLEASE!)   I'm a family physician and think this is a great application! There are many times when I've thought that it would really be helpful to show my patients the relevant anatomy when I'm trying to explain something to them, but didn't have the time to go searching for a textbook and lugging one into the exam room. Now I have a Netter Atlas in my pocket which is great. My wish list for future revisions would be: 1) The ability to bookmark! (PLEASE!!). I wish there was an easy way to bookmark images that I use frequently in the atlas rather than loading up the app and then having to surf every time through the index. When time is short and I'm in the room with a patient I almost think it's not worth the bother if it takes so long to find the image I want. 2) In Quiz mode, I wish it would cycle through all the pushpins just once and then give you a score on how many you got correct and maybe even cycle again through the ones you got wrong until you get them right. I think it would help more with learning and be a lot more fun than the current set up where it just keeps cycling through pushpins endlessly.Overall I'm happy with it and give it 4 stars. Add the bookmarks and fix the quiz mode and I'd give it 5! - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Goyito :)
Awesome   This is great timing! Will be a useful aid when I start medical school next month! - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Jwalker9
Excellent application worth every penny!   If you're in the healthcare field or a student, this is an indispensible application. It covers the basics of anatomy and will serve you well in a first year anatomy class or when you need to review information in the field. The illustrations are beautifully drawn, the application is responsive, and the information about each subject is complete and well-written.It would be nice to have more pins per card, however, especially on the lower limbs. Often they’ll have only one pin, and if you want to see what muscles are next to the featured muscle you’ll have to switch to a different card. Also, in quiz mode, it’ll ask you to find something on a card, and with one pin it’s not too difficult to find it, is it? So, the quiz mode could stand some improvement.Do I wish it was cheaper? Of course. That said, it’s still a reasonable price for the convenience of not having to drag around an anatomy book or a box of flashcards. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by aschroeder
LOVE IT!   so wish i'd had this in med school! never too cool to brush up on my anatomy! - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Ro-Hahn
Not worth the money   I loved the idea... I always wanted something like it on my phone.. but, it's not as detailed and easy to use. I have some great ideas for updates they need to do asap. First I would have it so you can "tap" or "drop pin" on any structure you want and it would tell you all about it(name, minor details, functions) I mean I went to look for a definition on a part and there was no info, there was a picture of it and when i taped the pin it told me the name, no functions or details(features) pertaining to that certain part. I mean for the money I was expecting a lot more. I find it easier to just use google. But if they update and make the app worth the money I would gladly recommend this program but for now. over priced. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Joey k
Long overdue   As a PT student, this is by far the most helpful study tool for anatomy. The quiz mode is incredible as well as the clinical relevance comments for each region of the body. I would have paid more for this application. This is also a useful tool upon graduation from PT school as well as Med school considering we must constantly demonstrate mastery in all aspects of anatomy. Well worth it. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by DPT09
Wow .   This application is phenominal. The only thing I have to say is I think seperating everything according to posterior and anterior initially would be good (posterior leg, anterior leg etc...) and the ability to zoom in, tap on (what you want) and get all the info would be great. I just don't understand why people would come here and write such garbage reviews on such a great app. This is a beautiful portable book basically. Thank you for taking the time to create this app. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by So Fresh and So Clean
Stop Whining About the Price   This app is worth the money. It is a great review and study aide, whether you are a first year medical student or a practicing physician. Do I wish it was cheaper? Of course...But educational materials don't come cheap. The text that this comes from is $69.95 on Amazon, and the cards are $34.99. This app is an exact replication of the cards. Keep in mind the cards come in a 6'' x 4'' x 4'' box which weighs a few pounds. And the box of cards can't give you an interactive quiz. I was fortunate that my girlfriend gave me the box of cards, but I still enjoy having this on my iPhone. And for those whining about the price...if you already spent $200 - $300 on a phone and an extra $30 a month in service, I doubt you are a "poor starving student" or the consummate frugal spender. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by JBrunt
Great reference! Gorgeous pictures   As a practicing internist I am constantly looking for anatomy pictures to explain things to my patients. Now there is no more dragging heavy texts from exam room to room!
The drawings are beautiful and the zooming makes the small screen less of an issue.
I was tempted to give 5 stars but I wish there was a way to make a quick list of favorite pages. Also, it is sometimes tough to touch the intended pin.
If only I had this when I was in anatomy....at least my iPhone doesn't smell like formaldehyde. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Constaj
This app makes me want to drop to my knees and burst into tears (of happiness)   I was at the school's bookstore and saw the actual Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards set. It's weight is substantial. 84 Head and Neck cars, 24 on the back and spinal cord, 27 on the thorax... etc. This application and its printed version are pretty much the same. This app just presents the cards in a digital format - with a quiz mode (VERY USEFUL.) The illustrations are better than most anatomy book's I've seen - image resolution is great - zooming is smooth. The index is fantastic. This set is not complete, but it does outline most of the major anatomical features. Modality offers separate sets for more in-depth study. I'm waiting for the head and neck set to be available on the app store. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by M1 Medical Student
Awesome deal   This will definitely help me as a phsical therapy student. I just finished writing out flash cards for the upper extremity muscles last week and now I've got origin, insertion, action and innervation right at my fingertips. By far the best app I've seen so far! - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by Bighurtrocks
top notch   studying and reviewing anatomy on the fly never became more efficient or easier. Ask any 1st yr. PA student and they will tell you they wish they had this if they daont already. It is simple to use, concise, and comprehensive. As well you most likely have borrowed a ton of money to go to school, so whats $40 more? A must have resource. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by PA Student
Not very pleased   I was very excited and could not wait to have the app. Some muscles or pins have no info. When I'm in study mode I have to go back n forth to the menu to study the muscle I need. A great feature will be to create your own groups of cards so u can organize themas you are learning at school and review them or study them in you own order or at your own peace. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by catoinostroza
Must for all students taking gross anatomy   This application is great! It is very complete and the quizzes are a great way to stay sharp. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by MedStudentMZ
Great APP for the price, excellent when you can't open your text or get on a computer   Firstly, while this may be seemingly expensive in the brand-new world of iphone / touch apps, let's put it in perspective: the Netter's flash cards cost $30-$34 so this isn't out of range at all. There may be cd's/dvds for the computer that are about 10 bucks less, but you don't have portability there and you can't use them on the go, and the images range from good to pretty lame in terms of accuracy. The Netter's images are some of the best available. For those of us that need access to this material in an easy and portable format the value is clear. Especially for students living in the city, this is a perfect study companion. The only thing that would be cool is if there was educational pricing for students and also package prices for those that need the anatomy and also the musculoskeletal/nervous system as well! $120 for the 3 will daunt many people.Next, this app is very well made and you get lots of structures, comments on them, their functions, quizzes, a searchable index and cross-referencing of repeated structures, and also the capability to search structures on the internet directly from the app (will launch a google search in safari). quizzing could be a little better on those muscle slides where they only ask 1 structure. would be hard to get it wrong! also would be cool if unit or custom quizzes were available, rather than just slide-by-slide. - Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards review by A&P manager
