The Divine Office App is an opportunity for you to participate in the recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours, an ancient and meditative collection of psalms, hymns and scripture that represent the public prayer of the Christian community.
If you are unable to pray in community, but love the contentment of praying with others, an added feature of The Divine Office App lets you view locations where other Christians around the world are simultaneously praying with you.

This App is an audio and text version of the official set of daily prayers from the Liturgy of the Hours of the Roman Catholic Church (Breviary). It wirelessly downloads several days of prayers at a time, without the need for iTunes synchronization or access to a computer.
For clergy required to pray the Liturgy of the Hours daily, or laity who recite the daily prayers to maintain their intimate connection with God, The Divine Office App is designed to make praying more convenient, enjoyable, and simple enough for anyone to use. The Divine Office App uses the current four-volume Liturgy of the Hours with a bias towards the USA calendar. This version is the official prayer book of the Catholic Church, however, it is suitable for those following Eastern Orthodox and Anglican traditions.
When St. Paul advises us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing,” he intends more than simply bowing our heads and speaking to God on a regular basis. He means for us to adopt an ongoing attitude of prayer that is a way of life and a constant intercession for the salvation of all mankind.

Most Used Applicatio I have found this one of the most useful applications I have ever purchased! It is fresh and refreshing morning and night. As a Protestant, I never realized the beauty of liturgical prayer before. What a loss! The authors have been very careful with the content to include members of other Christian traditions. The application is updated daily, meaning it is fresh material not canned stuff that grows stale after a number of repeats. Moreover, not only can I listen but participate, too. This wonderful application has become an indespensible blessing to my life, as it will yours, too.
I wrote the above for the first version. My opinion has not change with this new version, 1.4. Using Divine Office as my teacher, I am mastering the art of Christian prayer. I used to think that prayer was presenting a list of "needs", to the Lord. I have since learnt that my needs are only a very tiny part of daily prayer. The practice of daily prayer has strenghtned and deepened my faith, it has reduced the influence of sin, and has brought me closer to Christ.
It is by far the best investment I have EVER made!

Enhances My Hours.... Last night I was browsing the web on LOH subjects and caught notice of divineoffice.org. I saw that the website would let you download(podcast) the Hours in which you were interested in.Better yet, there was an application for my iTouch to download hours right in this application.I really like this, as I can choose if I want to say (pray) the hours on my own or Pray with the group.I really like the hymm music as it seems to put me right in the mood as if I'm in my church, especially Evening and Night Prayer Hours.I may add I am new to reciting the hours,about a month and I like in the application it gives one the page numbers for the Single Volume (Christian prayer) or for the Liturgy of the Hours 4 volume set.I have returned to Prayer and I hope you do too!! For it will solidify our Nations foundation in which or how it was built. As well, strengthen the family structure.Thank you

Beyond belief Cannot thank you enough. As a deacon I have taken a solemn vow to pray Morning and Evening prayer. So difficult and many times I failed. Often I rush it. Divine Office gives me the way to pray in a most beautiful and rich way. Was this an idea which came from the Vatican? If so it is truly an inspired gift to all of us. If not, please bring this app to the attention of NCCB and Vatican. A treasure.
Could you please adjust the loudness of the hymns so they are the same loudness as the voices? Thanks

Incredible! I have found this app to be one if the best investments I have ever made for the iPhone. It is easy to follow and a true joy to participate in. However, this wouldn't be a proper review without a few things...sometimes the various readings (Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, Night Prayer) do not load. Maybe one will load and the others? Nope. Zip. Nada. Also, some of the responses are not there in the text. You just have to remember what they say and repeat it. Understand that this does not happen all the time. Far from it. I do wish everything would load all the time. That said, if you like the Liturgy of the Hours and don't want to spend $125 for 4 books, then this is for you. It us truly a blessing and I love it!

A wonderful aid to daily spirituality... I'm constantly looking for new and creative ways to maintain spiritual practices and Divine Office has provided one such answer for me. The prayers and Psalms, along with excellent quality hymns, draw me into a posture of prayer and meditation. If I have any constructive criticism to offer... the use of multiple voices in response to portions of the Hours is distracting, it would perhaps be better to keep these responses to a single voice. Fantastic application for anyone seeking new ways of living out a life of faith. Thanks to the good folks of Surgeworks for providing this application.

Cheesy Aggggghhhhh... the cheesy music :-( It is not like we don't have centuries of great music in our church! Is this the very best "art" we can offer our God? And who can pray after hearing that? It takes me right out of the mood?

What a blessing I have to admit I really didn't like the idea of someone charging $14.99 for an audio liturgy of the hours. Afterall I have been subscribing to Praystation Portable podcast so I knew that such a product was available free. I only came across the free audio podcast from DivineOffice.org by accident and was blown away by the quality. Instead of just morning and evening prayer, the office of the readings was also included. I love the music and very unhurried tempo of the audio.
The creators of this app make it clear that by buying this you are supporting their ministry of bringing the liturgy of the hours to all. Just a blessing to be able to help and benefit from the tremendous work you do. God bless.

Fantastic prayer app!! I cannot say just how much I love this app! It has not only supported my prayer life it has increased it! I was always a little intimidated by the LOTH but with this app, no more. Besides the prayers themselves, the music and sound are beautiful and soothing. A beneficial aid to prayer I began learning to pray the hours a few months ago. It became much easier when I found divineoffice.org and started praying with the podcast related to this app. Now, it is the pinnacle of simplicity to pray the hours with this application.
