Doesn't find my location properly App looks great, but doesn't seem able to find my current location (Collier County FL area). Instead, it is listing stations in the Orlando, FL area (same ones in the screenshot on the store product listing). I have an iPhone Classic, so no GPS -- perhaps this app only works on the iPhone 3G.
Would it be possible to provide an option to enter a zip code manually in case the auto-locate is inaccurate? I have been looking for a Cheap Gas app for a long time and would love for this to work.

Alright I give it a four star because this is the first app that makes sense for gas prices it shows a list, quick and easy way to search. The reason why it got 4 and not 5 because it doesn't help me out to much cause I drive a tdi, so please add an option to change grade u would like. Another thing that would be nice is an option to expand your area from say 5 miles to 50. And to make it the best app make be able to see the gas stations on a map, like gasbag! But you nailed it on the concept!

A good effort worthy of 4 stars. This is a pretty good application. It does the basics of what it claims to do, which is get prices for you from GasBuddy.com based on your current position. The latest version is stable (except as noted below) and provides the information in an easy to read format.It adds the missing features others have complained about, and the price is free, so what's to complain about? I'd been using GasBuddy.com via MobileSafari, and while more powerful, it's much less more convenient than this application.All in all a good effort worthy of four stars.Some issues and quirks with the new version that keep it from getting 5-stars:Pushing the refresh button in the lower left corner always crashes the app. It has never not crashed the app.The application claims to let you set GPS sensitivity. Not sure what that means, but I am assuming it means you can set how far away a gas station is to be included in your location based searches. Whatever it means, there's no settings for it that I can find.Gas price time-stamps are weird. They all end in :04, and appear to have a four hour offset from my local time. Example, I just updated multiple stations as I drove to work via your application. I updated the price for one station on 4/09/09 at 8:33 AM Los Angeles (PDT) but Cheap Gas Plus shows the last price update as 4/09/09 12:04. Consistent inaccurate time on all the stations I updated.Gas price updating is a great new add to the application, but it's tedious to have to go through the update steps (tap the station, tap the specific type of gas, input the price) for each grade of gasoline. It would be really nice if the application let you input all the grades at once.How new does the price report have to be on GasBuddy to be included in the application's station lists? It seems like stations with prices still listed on the website as "current" don't show in Cheap Gas Plus. I'd suggest making this user selectable if possible. I may trust 24 hour gas prices, others may only trust 8 hour old prices. There's got to be an easier way to input prices for a station that's not listing with current prices. Maybe have an "input mode" or something that lets you see all the "verified" stations in the vicinity, even if they have stale prices. For those of us who input as we drive by, this would be a big boon.

poor application with good concept application kept on asking for me to allow it to use current location. It would not let me deny and type in zip code. kept on crashing each time. I deleted ultimately. Need to improve performance and give an option to search by zip code.

Nice app but... Nice app but the zip code entry is too hard to switch back and for to. You need to exit the app to enter a zip code and then get back in. Too much trouble. Need to be able to select different types of fuel besides just regular. Needs a time stamp on the gas prices. Needs to be able to provide price updates to gas buddy and support logging in to gas buddy. Nice simple UI. Gas is cheap?!? Nothing fancy, does what it says. My only complaint is it is hard to use while driving (which is usually when I'm looking for gas). This is a good app, but could be much better. One thing I'd recommend is to increase the range (or make it selectable). There are 2 stations that usually have the best prices in my area. Costco which is about 3.5 miles away, and Wawa, which is about 3 miles the oposite direction. User Very good app overall. Performs quick with good cell signal. Reports up to date prices that are no older than 48 hours old. (If prices are older, the gas station won't be listed.) Good tie in to GPS mapping app on iPhone. Can search by zip code for areas you may be traveling to. Best use will come in big city areas.
Shortcomings:
1. It relies on user input from gasbuddy.com web site. Problem is that no one in your area may be reporting prices, or that someone reports the wrong price (either accidentally or on purpose). Highly recommend checking out the web site first to see if your area has people reporting prices. Even better: become a member and start reporting prices (membership not required to view or report prices).
2. As yet, you cannot add or edit a price from the app (future enhancement in work?).
3. You must know zip code to search areas away from your current location. It would be nice when traveling to just enter a city/state instead.
4. Cannot search along a route. For example, if I'm using the map app to generate a route say from Miami to NYC, it would be great if the this app could list all the cheap prices reported along tie in to map app route so I could plan where to by the cheapest gas. - Cheap Gas! review by FLTigerboy

best gas app but could be improved Ties into gasbuddy.com, which is far better than relying on a small group of users to input info, and the sort by location or price is exactly what I'd want. However, I find the "Location Options" mystifying -- why do I care if my location is off by 10 meters vs 100 meters? At the same time, the stations shown seems to be limited to 5 miles or so.
