Using the GPS function on your iPhone, the Wi-Fi finder will tell you exactly where the closest Wi-Fi hotspot is, and how to get there.

Not very up to date! I am just moving back to Boston after being gone about a decade, so I have NO idea where to find Wi-Fi spots. A good App would be great and worth any price. Raining seeking a nice cafe to duck out of the rain and do some work...should be easy. First place they suggested was long closed, as in NO LONGER OPEN and when I asked some people in a close by store (while asking for Wi-Fi spots) they said it had been closed for quite awhile. This left me with one place that sounded like it could be neat, but it getting late and it being a little far I tried to call. Wi-Fi Finder of course had no number. Then there were listings for 50 McDonalds and 60 Starbucks. I was in Copley Sq, a place that, having more time to walk around I have found numerous great places with Wi-Fi.Just some updating and more exploring would have been nice.

This is the worst app in the history of the universe It is a mega triple pain for iPod touch users given that you need a wifi connection and you need to know all the zip codes to find a wifi hotspot. Don't buy this waste of iPod space. It's a goose in a burlap bag.

Works for me I'm not a heavy WiFi user, but this does what I need, and you can't argue with the price. Accurately locates the WiFi locations, and lets you know which are free and which require a fee. No small consideration, since the fee-based spots, like Starbucks and McDonalds, can cost as much as $10 a month, minimum. Overpriced latte, anyone?

Coupla things... Helpful, but fusses with updating current location. And please add an indication on the main list whether it's a paid wifi site, rather than making us dig into each one to find out. A "$" on the first search results page would do nicely. Thanks very much!

Re: WiFi LISTEN: for those having problems: this app only requires wifi if you're a chump with a 1st generation iPhone without gps. The 1st gen iPhone, I imagine, needs the wifi to approximate your location. It works fine, wifi turned off, on EDGE on my iPhone 3G because of the gps.
So stop giving the app poor reviews based on qualities you didn't bargain for (i.e., location-based services) when you bought a 1st generation iPhone.

Great but 1 thing missing Almost perfect if it would let you filter your "Near me" results by free or pay sites. It only lets you do this using the search feature, not the near me feature. Great App!

Retarded reviews from iPod Touch owners So many people have written reviews saying that you have to have WiFi to find a WiFi hot spot, so they think the app is useless.
Hey people, have you ever heard of a device called the iPhone? It has this really cool feature where it can access the internet all the time, so this app actually does work. Many people still have a original iPhone with slower Edge data, so finding WiFi hotspots is very useful.
And even if you don't have a iPhone, many people have WiFi at home, and can use this app to see if there are any hot spots in other areas where they may be traveling to.
Try thinking outside of your little world next time you call something useless.

Simple change would make a useless application of value for the iPod touch How hard could it be to download the wi-fi database to the iPod touch and then make it searchable by zip code off-line? Answer: not hard. The authors could update the database next time it is connected to the network (since it is always changing). But no, that's not how this application works. Pretty useless as is.

Yo, people, if you have an IPHONE!! this app works just fine Fired it up and it worked just fine the first time. As a free app I can't ask for much more and hope the developer will ignore the more ignorant comments and continue to improve tie useful app. Good work!

Does exactly what I needed I was able to find a nice quiet hotspot on my trip to Vegas today. This is an awesome app!
Keep in mind if you have a 3g phone you'll get the best results because of the GPS

Excellent Works great. Found a couple free locations around me I didn't know of. To the idiot who said it doesn't work for touch users did you notice you can enter your location by city and state or zip code? If you don't know what city your in you have bigger problems than finding a wifi hotspot,

Great database, poor search options You wont find a better database of hotspots, and it is free. Only 3 stars because the filtering could be better. Free/paid or location type (cafe, restaurant etc.) is a start. But what I want is to filter for providers I subscribe to -- any US iPhone user would want to filter for ATT sites, for example.
