This is pretty incredible   Anyone who's used Google Earth on the computer knows how powerful, intuitive and basically awe-inspiring it is. The iPhone app gets about as close to that as can be reasonably expected. I am very impressed at the 3D rendering I'm seeing (I'm using a first gen iPod Touch, for the record) although there is some understandable lag, probably more due to my wi fi connection than the program or the iPod. Navigation is seamless and intuitive - it's really fun to hop around landmarks like the Grand Canyon in this, once you get the hang of the gestures. It's definitely worth 5 stars, although it isn't perfect - it doesn't have a built in directions option like Google Maps does, and it doesn't seem to have to options to send locations to the Google Maps application to get directions, which would be the next best thing. Hopefully that's coming in an update. You can locate businesses with this, but links will give you addresses and phone numbers and external website links, not directions integrated into the program. Also, there are only two layers now - Wikipedia and Panoramio. It doesn't seem to have street or traffic layers. I suppose they are leaving the navigation to the Maps application. Not a horrible idea, this probably improves the app's speed and reduces its size, but it would be nice to have that as an option. Still, the ability to view a highly detail 3D version of the Earth on a mobile device is worth 5 stars alone for me, even without some of the frills.

Almost Amazing   I absolutely love Google Earth! And I love that you can tilt your phone to change the perspective. What I DON'T like is that it crashes every time I search for anything, or after I search for my location. Kind of kicks you in the gut a bit. Hopefully they will fix those problems soon!

EarthCrash   I'm a gApple fanboy, so it pains me to write that Google took this one out of the oven a little too soon. Crash, crash, crash. Wait for v2 and use Earthscape, functional albeit inelegant, in the interim. 1* for execution.

Needs work   I like the idea but it just doesn't work very well. Performance is terrible on an iPhone 3G on wi-fi and it crashes often.
I'll leave it installed and hope for an update soon.

Works very well, but needs a way to display street names   As with the desktop version, this is a stunning terrain visualizer from Google. (Tilt didn't seem to work at first, but the help file was very instructive.) My biggest complaint so far is that this mobile version doesn't support enough configurable layers -- esp. without Roads, it's going to be difficult to use this as a research tool.

So far it keeps crashing...   So far the current location button doesn't seem to do anything except spin. The app keeps crashing on me whenever I zoom up close enough to see where all the photos are.

Great graphics, poor stability   Pros: Graphics are better than when on regular computer since you have tilting planes to view and can move more 3 dimentionally around the world.
Cons: Crashes often, sometimes even when I haven't moved yet after bring located. Frustrating! Then have to start all over again. It does seem to remember locations already typed in however.
Hope it's fixed soon.

Meh   What's the point of an app if it crashes everytime you open it? When it does work it runs so slow I have to reset...I'd rather use the space for music.

Too slow   I absolutely love Google Earth on my Mac, but this iphone version is pretty horrible. It is too slow to be usable, and the camea gets stuck a lot.

Google Earth   Not going to rate it any higher than 2 stars because it crashes every time I try and do anything. Seems to be a cool app, but will wait for the next update to actually show it off.

Meh. Nice start, but behind.   Graphics are jumpy, it's hard to navigate, and it crashes a lot. The search feature is good, and the international imagery is good, too... But, I like Earthscape a lot better. Earthscape is smoother, has the wikipedia articles labeled (so you're just not randomly clicking on things without knowing what they do), and it has photo previews. Plus, I like uploading my pictures and seeing what my friends are doing in real-time. Google has a good start, and their search has more items (it's google, of course!), but, their only competitor Earthscape is more usable. Plus, Earthscape is free, too.

Crashes so much I haven't been able to do anything   When I say I can't do anything, I mean it. It starts up most of the time without crashing, but if I try to do ANYTHING, it crashes immediately. Come on Google. Get your apps properly tested before you release this and waste the time of thousands of people. The screenshots look great though. After you fix the crashes so I can actually use the program I'm sure it will be great.

Good, not there yet   v1.0- quality is low, very slow to load, crashes. I like the perspective tilt but it's slow to use. it's missing all the data you get with the download app which makes google earth worth using.

Great, but I'd turn off the tilt control   You can use a two finger drag to rotate your point of view with more precision than tilting allows. I found the application much more usable with the tilt control switched off.

Crashes often   The terrain looks great. But I'm not sure how to get in 3d mode. I tilt my phone at all angles and it doesn't go into flying mode. It also crashes without fail everytime I use it. It's a cool but useless app.
