Cross the border and explore the most secretive country on Earth.
In the era of satellites, the Internet and worldwide news, it is still hard to even imagine what North Korea looks like. Thanks to Eric Lafforgue’s amazing photographic work – and his unique blend of art and realism - you can now see it for yourself.
This is the country with the fourth-largest army in the world, a ubiquitous cult of the personality for its Great and Dear Leaders, mass games (Arirang) with over 100,000 performers, amazingly empty large roads and a national airport offering only one international flight, on certain days.
Eric Lafforgue chose to photograph everything he could, without judgment. Always under tight supervision, he could not fully document the reality of life in North Korea. But if you pay attention, you may see the cracks in the veneer.
Eric and Fotopedia do not endorse or approve of the regime. Some images, such as of the propaganda, may be shocking for some people. Yet, the best way to tell the story is to show everything Eric was able to bring back with him.
A deep sense of the universality of human trials emerges, fostering compassion for those seeking peace and happiness in the aftermath of decades of war and isolation.
With more than 1,300 spectacular photos, interactive maps, social media sharing, slideshows, wallpapers and favorites to easily navigate, bookmark, organize and share these amazing pictures.
