Good app This is a very nice app. Rain with thunder, thunder sound could be louder, would like to see rain on tin roof. Ocean sound frequently is to fast. shut down for app does not seem to work.

A disappointment I've been looking forward to this app showing up in the store. Unfortunately I will continue to wait for another entry or an upgrade to this one.1. For the function provided, the price is about right. No complaints there.2. Did the developer even read the book on User Interface Guidelines for iPhone applications? Fortunately this app doesn't have many screens or buttons to navigate, but the ones it does use are completely "unique" to this application and don't reflect any standards as far as how apps should look so that they look like they belong on the iPhone. Why the GIGANTIC logo for the name of the program (even after showing a splash screen with the logo) and you need a magnifying glass to see how much time is left on the timer?3. There is no "white noise" sound. (This is actually the show-stopper for me).4. All the "natural" sounds (rain, wind, ocean, jungle, etc...) are littered with clinks and whistles and bird chirps and every other manor of distracting noises. I know a seagull is probably a normal thing to hear when you're at the beach, but try sleeping with one of them squawking in your ear.5. The "soothing melodies" are a joke and should just be left out.6. Having the selected sound just stop suddenly with a pop and return to the home menu when the timer runs out is also enough to jolt you from a sound sleep. Could you at least fade out the sound over a minute when the timer runs out? So... Great idea. Poor execution. Keep trying, I'm rooting for ya!AN UPDATE TO MY REVIEW ABOVE...I've read the list of new features in the latest update and it looks like the author has addressed many of the concerns I had. Good job on that. However, even though I have purchased this app I will NOT be downloading a 172MB application to my iPhone. I can't believe the author has chosen to include 23 hours of EACH SOUND rather than figuring out how to seamlessly 'loop' the various noises. Calming & Visually Pleasing – But Kill The Beach Birds! Cool! I was hoping that someone would release an App of relaxing sounds. Signs Studios definitely delivers, and with a nice and simple GUI. It’s nice to see a developer that puts a little creativity into their work versus most others who make the same old, same old.However, there is a problem with the relaxing sound that I planned on using the most - ‘Beach’. Instead of (just) soft relaxing waves crashing up against warm sandy beach shores, they used a track that has an excess of seagulls yelping away in what sounds like a somewhat manic manner - and they don't stop!For me, the excess bird sounds on the beach track turns an otherwise relaxing sound into one that makes you (or at least me) feel anxious where you can’t bear to listen to it for more than a minute. Almost Dozed Off.... I have occasionally considered buying one of those "sleep boxes," but they have such horrible little speakers that I couldn't stand listening to them. When I saw this application pop up online, I was intrigued enough to drop a buck prior to any reviews being posted. I have to say that this was one of the best dollars I've spent a long time.The sound quality is very good (I almost fell asleep at my desk), plus I can hook this up to a decent stereo that sits right beside my bed and set the sleep timer. Nice Program glad to see it! Please add updates! I would have gave this program five stars but with the rain, wind, beach and forest I would have liked to hear soft music in the background as well in these areas.... would like to see a serenity area as well.... also when I set the timer and then wanted to stop it the timer kept going on the main screen, may be or may not be the way I did it.... also in future updates I hope we are able to add other songs under each category. This is really a nice program for people as myself that experience Anxiety Disorders here and there through life! I am not happy I bought and would recommend it to anyone that has to go through what I do at times.... and don't ask me why I am like this because I do not know.... I hate anxiety attacks and heart palpitations! And my only self help cure is by cds and programs like this! I would like to see some updates if possible, but it also good enough as is. Keep the price and MINOR updates and you can leave it alone and it will suceed I am sure.The fade out idea someone suggested sounds good if this is plausible. but it's not entirely necessary. Has become a bedtime must! I've had trouble turning my brain off at bed time since I was a little kid. It generally takes me over an hour to settle down. I'd never tried a sound machine before, but thought it was worth a buck to give this a shot. Now it usually takes me less than 20 minutes (I know because of the timing feature--super!) The rain is incredible. I'm not a fan of most of the other sounds, but luckily I never tire of the calming pitter-patter. No doubt this will become even more valuable on my next business trip--it's so hard to fall asleep in hotels, especially when there's jet lag involved. Bugs and size hold it back Nice things first. I like the samples better than Ambiance's. Most of the nature ones with identifiable noises (thunder, gull) don't loop quite as obviously as Ambiance's do, and the overall treble/bass dynamics are better. Ambiance sounds pretty tinny in most of its samples, in comparison.The interface is pretty sweet. The current version (8/19) has a bug where if you view the help screen, the sample chooser will fail to initialize for half a black screen, but that's OK. The misspellings and funky foreign grammar does detract slightly, but only slightly.However, there are some problems.The elephant in the middle of the room is, well, aSleep. It's -huge-. The samples obviously aren't compressed, and about 30% of them are utter dreck meant just to pad it out above Ambiance's set. The competition may be entertaining, but it's starting to impinge on functional usefulness. At this point, I'd kill for a "best of" program that took the best choices from each for a nice 12-15 sample set.Also, the volume has a really nasty tendency to sink to zero within a few minutes after starting the timer. In a sleep program, that's a really bad showstopping bug, and it needs to get fixed before this is really useful as a nighttime program.Finally, the design decision to reset the volume to 50% after each sample is very questionable. I appreciate the attempt not to blast our ears, but the idea is to use that volume to tune whatever playback device you use (an iPod clock radio, in my case) to a final volume. Having to reset it on every session, every sample, that's a real pain.So, it's a buck. If it weren't 170-odd MB, I'd say just get it. The volume problems will get fixed, and some of the samples are really terrific. As it is, it'll fill your phone and make your backups go forever.
