- used last night for my headache and it actually went away!!... been looking for something like this for a while now!.
I finally found the only app which really uses the right frequency for the learning mode (theta). The only binaural app worth it !
How it works: The easiest way of stimulating the brain is through ears. Other senses are often used as well like vision. The problem is that humans cannot hear low sounds, which are very useful for brain wave stimulation, that's where a technique called binaural beats is used.
Let me give you an example of a binaural beat/tone. Right ear is given a steady tone of 400Hz and the left one is given 410Hz, these tones combine in your brain to achieve a 10hz difference. This 10Hz tone is totally formed by your brain. This can only be achieved when using stereo headphones since the right and left channels do not mix until in your brain.
There are four frequency stages:
●Delta (0.5Hz-5hz)
●Theta (4Hz-8Hz)
●Alpha (8Hz-14Hz)
●Beta (14Hz-30Hz
For example: Theta stage (4hz-7Hz) has been found to increase learning abilities. Children spend more time in theta stage than adults, which could explain their accelerated learning capabilities.

There really is something to this. Like others, I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to this stuff but after a couple days of use I'm convinced there really is something to this whole tones thing. The sleep one has really helped me to fall asleep faster and better. I'm still experimenting with the others. For two dollars, this is great. I'm giving it four stars because there are very noticeable loops in the sound. If this was improved it would be a five star app. I suggest you give it a try if you're interested.

Very Interesting App I agree with most of the reviews already posted. Sound gaps are annoying and it would be nice to have more options with regard to the white sounds that are overlayed. One issue that I have experienced is at first selection of a preset, the volume is way too loud, regardless of the slider's position. If I let a preset finish and then select it again with the exact same volume setting, it comes on dramatically louder and I must tap the slider (not actually moving it) to get the volume to correct.I am a very large skeptic by nature, especially when it comes to non-traditional approaches to the body. I believe that the placebo effect is very powerful and goes a long way toward making people feel like something works, even if it doesn't. Having said that, I downloaded this app expecting to be disappointed with the results, but for $1.99 I could live with that. So far, I am quite interested with my experiences. It is very possible that even as a skeptic I am getting some placebo effect, but the frequencies do seem to have an effect. I have found that some of the presets give me an almost Deja Vu feeling, consistently enough to merit further interest. I would love to see some overall improvements, but give great credit to the author for making such an affordable application with so much potential.It does not appear to me that the benefits are necessarily quite as clear cut as the preset descriptions would imply, they do seem to be in the ballpark though. I have given this application a four star rating based on where it is now and the author's stated commitment to continued development. It is a simple application, but one that stands largely alone in that it offers a selection of effects in a single package.If you are at all interested in something like this application, I would definitely recommend trying it.UPDATE: I am liking this application more and more as I use it. My wife is a medical professional and at least as skeptical as I am regarding alternative treatments. She suffers from frequent headaches. I finally convinced her to help me test out this application a few days ago when her head was throbbing. She tried the headache program instead of the usual ibuprofen and to her great surprise (and mine), felt dramatically better within thirty minutes! She has since tried it again with equally impressive results. This is the longest she has gone without any analgesic for quite some time. I have primarily been using the various theta wave settings (caffein, mental refresh, etc) and, while I do seem to feel some affect, have not seen the clearcut benefit she has. GREAT APP Really awesome. I'm truly thrilled to have found this app. For the record, I'm not the sort of guy who would normally entertain things that I perceive as "new-agey", or "pseudo-sciencey". My girlfriend expressed an interest though, so for 2 bucks... Anyway, cynical, skeptical me is here to say there is DEFINITELY something to these binaural beats. I started off with the deep meditation preset - just a quick 10 minutes. Came out on the other end feeling genuinely, palpably groovy. I've since tried the "Coffee" preset, while my girlfriend's tried the "relaxation" preset, and we've both been really excited by the results. I can't wait to try the other presets. The developer has done a fantastic job of providing the kind of assortment that could be called upon several times a day. Its like if there really were such a thing as a "thinking cap", but also a "creative cap", and a "relaxation cap", and a "alertness cap", and a... you get the point. No support! Interesting app but of three sound options I tried two had distracting clicks, apparently where sound files had been spliced. No problem, I thought, I'll just email the developer, but no such luck. There's no apparent way to contact him through his website. Wow! is truly all I can say, well worth $1.99 maybe more for piece of mind and relaxation. I'm a holistic healer (which some people might be susceptible about) but I've let some of my "non-believer" friends try this and they are amazed at the powers of the mind demonstrated by this application. I use it every night to fall asleep (sleep induction setting) and also after a stressful day. It's well put together and intuitive on every level, much better than some other programs that "try" to deliver relaxation. Great app for binaural beats! Ok, so there aren't TONS of binaural beats apps at this point - just a couple really, but this is the better at the moment. It's a good interface, many different "programs", a volume control, and good price. Here's what I'd like to see in the next version:-fix the loops. Don't know if it's the audio or the program that is the issue, but with fading out/in and/or copying pasting audio from the begin/end of the audio file you should be able to fix this. If it's the program itself, and even a perfect loop won't work without a gap, I would say you'd be better off to fade to noise, face out, then fade back in. The way it is now it too jarring when it loops on most of the programs I've heard.-add ability to play in background while doing something else on phone/pod.-add ability to punch in my own amount of time to play. -check the volume levels so that most all programs are about the same - "mentally refreshed" is jarringly loud at first compared to others, for example. And future possibilities:-add user ability to add own tones and name them-add flashing LED effects like those mind machines - the iphone/ipodtouch is perfectly sized when lying horizontal over the eyes! Good app, but still needs some work First let me say that this app is certainly worth the price, and the beats and background music sound great. I'm not sure they work for me yet, but the app (and my Touch) is new to me. On the minus side, the white noise definitely needs some work. The L/R sweep of the white noise made it impossible for me to actually meditate with the meditation setting; you get plenty of white noise from the sound of your breath passing through your nasal cavity, and the white noise rate conflicted with my breathing rate. It's also annoying to have the sound start as soon as the scrolling list stops. As one reviewer said, it could really use a stop/start function. And apparently the volume slider doesn't slide, it needs to be tapped. When the time is up, the app just stops; it would also be nice if the app faded the sound in at the start and out at the end.If these sounds are generated and not just recorded, it would be great to be able to configure the settings, like the volume of each track (beats, ambience, white noise.) Totally suprised! Really works! Okay, I must admitt I didn't expect it to work. I had a bad headache Sunday and on a whim decided to try this. Without any headache medicine I hit the couch put on the earphones and listened to the headache cure for about 30 minutes. I can't explain how...don't have the answers but my headache really did go away. I know it sounds like some cheap commercial on TV (even to me it does) but believe me it worked! Last night I used the relaxation one and I was totally calm almost in a blissful state that I haven't felt since last spring when I had a full day at the spa! I do think they need to fix the clicks in the loop though I see already they have stated they are going to. Also, the one for sleep induction is a bit to much to put me to sleep. It's good then it starts revving back up to loud. The relaxation is better to fall asleep. Uhh kinda freakish I just bought this app because I have been aware of the b beats thing in the past. So I have a thumping noise in my left ear that drives me nuts. It comes back more intense now and then. So I try the headache beat for a few mins. and the thumping is greatly reduced. WTF!!!!!! I love you. Great app- would like to offer a couple suggestions I really like this app. and do feel that it works. I was a skeptic, but I'm really glad I gave this a try. A couple things I would especially like to see would be a choice of background sounds to choose from- my favorite would be ocean waves. It would also be nice to have a fader available to end the session on the app. It can be a little jarring when it just abruptly ends. A fader at the beginning wouldn't be bad either.
