groovy   i love this app. like many others, i'm a weight watcher and i searched through many apps to find one that would not only count my points accurately and easily, but also keep track of other important information too -- sodium, fat, cholesterol, etc. and not only does it track that information, but it also always you to set your own limits for each nutrient and easily see when you have exceeded or not met your goals. entering the data for custom foods and organizing favorites is easy -- which is a good thing because i don't eat at restaurants much at all (but their restaurant food list is massive!).one of the latest updates has added an exercise tracking component -- which other weight watchers will know can give you extra daily points. i do think the built-in calculation of earned points is a bit generous, so i just made my own entry called "exercise point" (= -1). i would like to see the ability to customize the exercises a bit more, and i fully expect the cool folks at shroomies (who have been VERY responsive to my email queries and comments) to tweak that soon.great app!

Great App   Does exactly what I need it to do.
Favorites thing:
Allows me to insert my own foods that aren't listed (although the exisiting library is pretty big already), watch my protien and carb intake, and return to previous days to insert a meal I had the previous night, but was too tired to input.
Least favorite thing:
Unattractive UI. What's with the blue.
Overall:
Strongly recommended for the casual gym goer watching their diet. Program is easy, reliable, and quickly allows you to insert meals and drinks.

Best app I've found for finding nutrition facts for foods and restaurants!   I'm on Weight Watchers and have tried several apps for looking up nutrition information and calculating pts, and this is the best one I've found that has BOTH of them in one program! I was at Subway the other day, and I not only found the nutrition information but the app calculates the important pts information for you! And at the grocery store, I can just type in the nutrition information from the package into the handy pts calculator to figure them out. For the price this is an EXCELLENT program -- I used to use CalorieKing Palm Pilot software before I got my Ipod Touch and they charged $$$$ for the program and it wasn't WW friendly -- in comparison the price for this app is very reasonable and hopefully they will keep updating the nutrition information regularly!!

Cumbersome Interface   Though the database is huge, I have found numerous mistakes in the calorie counts. As a way to go around this, I was going to just put in the product & manually manipulate the serving size until it showed the correct calorie count, as I have had to do with other programs. Unfortunately, it only offers this wheel with the choices of 1 serving, 1.5 servings, etc. The most obnoxious part is on the wheel screen you are unable to see the new total. I might keep this program but will just manually add in all the food, I don't know.

NOT User Friendly at all!   This is way too complicated. One time the instructions work, but for the next food, you can't get it into "Favorites". It took one week to finally get an egg entered. I kept doing it per instructions, but it just wouldn't work. If something's entered incorrectly, I can't find a way to delete it. Cumbersome is a good description.

Indispensable   As a newly diagnosed diabetic, I have purchased every app that mentioned restaurants and carbs. This is the only one I use now. I have cut my A1C in half in five months and relie on this app when I eat out. It takes some of the guesswork out of counting carbs away from home. Frequent updates, contantly expanding and updating the database and a developer(s) that seem to care make for continually better product. As I travel alot, I also like the fact that it does not relie on an internet connection. I like not having to worry about hitting a dead zone in a strange city when I need to eat on a schedule.

Very difficult to use   How difficult is this to use? Here are the directions to add a food favorite (these are direct quotes):1) Add entries to your journal in the food tabs or calculator tab2) Click on the journal tab3) Click on today's total4) Click on the edit button5) select entries6) Click on the plus buttonAnd all that just to add one ounce of peanuts. If the developer thinks I am going to waste so much time trying to add a list of my food favorites to this app, he is crazy. A waste of time!

Update to Previous "Ok App" Comment   This app is GREAT! I am overly OCD when it comes to eating & exercising. This app is perfect. I can even summarize that days exercises in it and subtract the calories. Ex. Treadmill -430 calories. This still allows me to see my correct calories and what I am over or under on so that I can plan my next meal! Love it!

Just As Described!   This program is just as described, and is just what I needed. It is easy to search for a food, and to move through the food database. I am happy to be able to add my own favorite foods to the database, however I would like to be able to edit a food item's values after it has been added to favorites. As it is, it is workable though, because a favorite may be deleted and re-entered if necessary. I easily entered the formula for the Weight Watchers diet plan, which is what I am using. However, I am also glad the calculations are flexible in case I want to switch the way I track food. I got the WW formula by searching on the internet. I really appreciate that the developer frequently updates the program.

Sweeeet   Great tool to closley approximate calories. Easier than carrying a book with items that don't list all brands or restaurants, easier than lugging around a journal, and this is way cheaper. Like all technology - the more you use it the easier it gets to modify. I use the strengths of this app to achieve my diet goals.
I've been able to manage my energy (calorie) balane needs easier with this tool than any other tool. As a health care provider I try new things before recommending to clients. I recommend this! There is room for improvement -like adding a section to input energy expenditure so anyone could 'see' energy excess or defict. Not all foods are listed but its easy to find something very similar.
In any economy - this tool is a steel of a deal.

Nice piece of software   This software delievers all that is described. If you know how to use your iPhone or iPod touch you will not have any problems using. Not sure why some have said hard to use. Large food database that is also customizeable. A great addition would be to incorporate an exercise database. You could then put in food intake and then show calories burned. The only thing that could be added is editing a previous food entry. It may do it but I have not got that one worked out yet.

Great app, poor database.   The thing I love about this app, that makes it different from every other "nutrition" app for the iphone, is that it isn't just a glorified calorie counter connected to a database. It actually shows you in a manner that's easy to read, how far along you are on meeting your daily nutritional needs based on the food items you add to your journal. (carbs, fat, sugars, proteins, everything but vitamins and minerals)
The bad news is, at least at the this time, the database is a piece of work; it's unsortable, and so it's not only difficult and a bad idea to browse, but you get more search results than you can chew on (or none because the database is so small). You may be able to find the nutritional info of a single restaraunt pizza, but there is no real way to divide it into slices or portions.
Furthemore, food descriptions in the database are of very little help, and the journal would be a lot easier to sort with a calendar view. It would also be nice to see some features for Estimating your daily needs rather than assuming the general default is right for you.
In short; it would be the greatest nutrition app on the iPhone I'd only the database and search feature were reworked. If you purchase this app, expect some difficulty finding food items.

Great for me   I find this app wonderful. Easy to use and quite flexible. I've lost 10 lbs. in three weeks just by setting a daily goal and keeping track of what I eat. So simple but this app makes it happen. Especially apprecite the counter on the program icon ... Reminds you how you stand every time you look at your iPhone home screen. Great reinforcement. Developer continues to add improvements.

Indispensable Dieter’s App!   This app is indispensable to anyone dieting. It allows you to monitor and log your intake of whatever your specific diet requires you limit. I have been using this app for awhile now to count carbs. But recently, my doctor told me to try limiting my fat intake too. No problem. I was able customize Nutrition Menu to calculate and track my fat consumption as well. And I see it can be configured to track the Weight Watchers Point system or any number of different diet systems. Let’s face it, not every diet works for everyone so it’s important to be able to easily follow the diet that works for you. This app makes that possible!I find the selection of restaurants and common foods amazing. And the best part is that the list is constantly updated. I also appreciate that I don’t need to be on the internet to search the list because I don’t have an iPhone and the great majority of restaurants still don’t offer free wi-fi.Perhaps it could be more intuitive to setup but I see a new help section that maybe would help with that. The most important thing is that it is flexible enough to work with some of the more complex diets. In any case, I take it with me wherever I go and it’s well worth the price. You’ll pay more for that fast-food meal then you will to look it up and see you can still have for dessert.

Weight Watchers App   I'm on Weight Watchers and this is the app I've been waiting for. The number of restaurants is amazing and I love how easy it is to track points now! Use these numbers in the settings to calculate Weight Watchers Points.Calories: 50Fat: 12Carbs: 0Fiber: 5Fiber Max: 4 - Nutrition Menu - Calorie, Exercise, Weight & Water Tracking review by JanetH728
much better   Was waiting to get the common foods added to this app before I bought. Common foods are useless because most things are hard to find and does not include normal things, such as a frozen meal. Needs a search function. Also if you do find something to add to your jounal and accidently add too much, their is no way to remove it from your journal. You can only clear everything at once. Great for Weight Watchers point system though. It has the calculator and if all you do is go out then the resturaunts are good. But most people on Weight Watchers don't go out much, kinda defeats the purpose which makes the program almost useless. Plus it is expensive.*****UPDATE*****Added a search function but is still really hard to find things. For example, I was looking for a chicken breast. Sounds pretty simple right? Well just looking for it in the common foods was impossible. I found chicken liver, gizzards and all kinds of other wierd things but no chicken breast. Then I tried the new search function. It came up with hundreds of results, and I was never able to find it. I'm sure it is in there but its too hard to find. I think a chicken breast is pretty common especially among dieters. I also tried a simple egg. Same results. One of the other things that really buged me that seemed like a simple fix was to be able to remove things from your journal. It was not in the latest uodate. You can still only remove everything or nothing. I used to have a Palm phone and I had Calorie King on it. This was a fantastic program, very easy to use and find everything. I wish this developer would take some hints from this program.I did upgrade it to two stars because I find that I use the calculator a lot.***Another update***The best thing about this app is that the developer really listens. They have fixed about everything I though was wrong with it. The only thing I would like to see now is being able add things myself. There are a lot of foods out there and I don't expect to find them all in this app so being able to add items to my database would make this app perfect. I will give it five stars now. Leaps and bounds better than it was. Thanks for all of the updates! - Nutrition Menu - Calorie, Exercise, Weight & Water Tracking review by WILCOroger
Useful only if you always eat at restuarants   Extremely disappointing. The application has a restuarant menu to select from and will give calorie, fat, carbs and fiber for each restuarant's menu items. However there is not a food menu to select from (for example, there is no ablility to look up one banana and get the appropriate calorie count). The tool useful if you always eat at restuarants; if not, don't waste the $9.99 + tax. - Nutrition Menu - Calorie, Exercise, Weight & Water Tracking review by JimAug
Handy, Useful, Helpful, Motivational   If you're at all interested in the nutritional value of the most popular restaurants' choices, and how these may affect your diet, this is the app for you. If you are a "points" dieter, this is a "must have."First, you program your 'points' formula based on whatever diet you’re following. Then, as you eat during the day, you can pick the items from the restaurant "menus" and your points are automatically added. Also, if you eat something that is not on the menu, you can manually add the calories, fat, etc. and the points will be calculated and added to your daily total. This app definitely takes the guessing and calculations out of eating out. (You can even use it to choose the healthiest items on the menu.) The restaurant library and menu choices are extensive. And, if you don't see what you want, they'll add it. According to the update, grocery foods are next on the horizon. This will make this app 6-star. If you exercise, you can enter the calories burned and earn some points credits. This part isn't very intuitive, but my guess is that an update will make it more so. Anyway, $10 is not much to pay for a list of all these restaurants' nutritional information. Throw in the fact that it will monitor your points and also show you your intake in fancy graphical formula, the price is a bargain. Well done guys and gals. - Nutrition Menu - Calorie, Exercise, Weight & Water Tracking review by ecalcott
Fantastic!   I am so glad I purchased this app. I have another app that tells the calories in specific foods, but to be able to go to a specific restaurant and know what you're eating is wonderful! The day I purchased this, I went out of town and both of the restaurants my daughters and I chose to eat at were listed. The only feature I would like to add is one that would allow me to record a notation for a particular restaurant. We ate at Panda Express and the cookie wasn't listed. The wrapper showed it as having 150 calories. I would like to be able to note that somewhere in the Panda Express section. Thanks for all the time you took to develop this. Is it possible to have Frisch's Big Boy and Hometown Buffet Restaurants added? My daughter loves this and is having a fit because she can't have this on verison wireless phone!!! - Nutrition Menu - Calorie, Exercise, Weight & Water Tracking review by readingismypassion
