NOTE: Due to Apple policy, StepTrakLite only runs in the foreground. (iPhone OS disables the accelerometer when the device is locked.) You can play your music by starting your iPod application first.
Yes, there are other applications that run with the device locked. They don't require the accelerometer.
There is absolutely nothing we can do to fix this problem without violating our developer agreement. Please, no more negative reviews about this limitation -- we would fix it if we could.

Useless unless Auto-Lock set to "Always On"   This pedometer works GREAT as long as your phone is ON and you never use another app, but who does that? StepTrakLite not only turns itself off if you go into a different app on your iPhone, it also stops when your iPhone goes into "Auto-Lock." On their website FAQ, they claim that Apple won't let them do otherwise, but I also use the app "Nature SDS"/"Custom Sounds of Nature" and it still works when my iPhone locks, so it doesn't make sense to me that this problem is on Apple's side. I was hoping to use this app to get an idea of how many steps I take per day, to compare with the common goal of 10,000 steps/day. If you only want to use the step-counter when you're on an extended walk or run workout, AND you change your Auto-Lock settings before and after the workout to save your battery, I suppose it would work fine.

Not for the Touch   This would appear not to work on the Touch, saying it isn't a supported device. I would have supposed that this would work via the accelerometer, but I may be wrong. Is it GPS based? If not, is there any reason this shouldn't be available for the Touch? - StepTrakLite review by hixer
Excellent   (v1.0 review) outstanding basic pedometer. If you're looking for something easy to use that works as advertised, this is your app.
Note to Apple: Please let apps like these to run in the background! - StepTrakLite review by djwalter2000
Nice App   I walk my dog every night and didn't realize I took so many steps.
Do need a way to save history, maybe in an update, hopefully. - StepTrakLite review by HannibalCorp
Forget Nike Plus...   And get this because it's free, and it's accurate. I was not interested in sports or healthcare, but slowly when I started to show this app to all my friends, I started to get more and more interested. This works for people who don't like to exercise in a gym and breath artificial filtered air (i.e. treadmill or Stairmaster). If you like to get out of the house, and walk in the park or jog outside, then this is the app for you. - StepTrakLite review by newyorkannie
Works great   Does what it says it does. Well done. Very accurate. Would like to see distance traveled if there is a way to accurately measure. And hopefully one day Apple will allow these types of applications to run in the background. - StepTrakLite review by Grazianos
5 Stars to offset the 1 star given by the idiot with the iPod Touch   Criticizing an iPhone app for not working on another device is irrelevant and downright stupid.Even so...the App itself is great, does exactly what it promises to do, and I was surprised at how accurate it is. Hopefully additional features will be added with updates (like a calorie calculator, perhaps?), and of course the ability to listen to music while the App is running would be awesome. - StepTrakLite review by Concoction
Works after changing settings   After fooling around with the settings I got it to pretty accurate. How can you argue with free? Good start. - StepTrakLite review by triwannabe
Get little pedom app   Very nice job! Read the funny and well done FAQ. If u want the app to run on bsckgrnd tell Apple not these folks! Look fed to a full version w/ tracking ftrs. - StepTrakLite review by Jwalkng
amazing   works very fine, my test of 10 feets was successfully, when it will release StepTrak (the pro version:D) - StepTrakLite review by naeron

This app is amazing

Very Good   I'm glad you updated this to work with the iPod Touch. I only have two suggestions, and one question.1. You could track calories, too2. You could have goals like other pedometer (like, to burn 200 calories per. day)Also, does StepTrakLite track when you ride a bicycle? I tried it, and every 20 seconds another step was added to the total.Again, thanks for making this for iPod Touch! - StepTrakLite review by Superkittyreviewer
Awesome!   This is awesome and free! I'am really glad that there are still people that make these apps and put a FREE tag in. Most people, like me, dont mind with ads if the application is free. And some applications like this one dont even have ads! AWSOME - StepTrakLite review by William555
Worked on a 5.5 mile walk   Works great, super accurate at detecting strides. Needs a confirm reset screen, and the ability to enter your stride and get a distance reading. Great app right down to the icon. - StepTrakLite review by AdamCarson
very accurate, but I have problems with iPhone going into standby   I've been using StepTrakLite for one full day. When working it it very accurate. I am really impressed for a free app! When it is working, the iPhone screen is very dim, and tapping the screen brings up the display. This is good. However, I have intermittently seen the iPhone go into standby while using this app. When in standby, the counting seems to stop. This happened to me twice in one day, both times just after adjusting the settings. If I leave the settings alone, it seems to work fine. - StepTrakLite review by my cat's name is Bernie
Pretty accurate   I wanted to test a pedometer app before I purchased one. This is pretty accurate and easy to use. Would be five star if it calculates distance and calories burned. Worth the price... FREE - StepTrakLite review by jaqbqwk
Pretty good ped.   I like this app a lot. Have trouble with phone going to sleep; it stops counting. Screen has to be dimmed but still recognizable as the app to work. Several times I've turned it on and it doesn't count anything and I have to restart it. But mostly, it's great - it tracks your time and your steps, and gives you a decent idea of how long you've been walking. Looking forward to a 2.0. - StepTrakLite review by Mean_Girl
I was really excited.. But NO TOUCH Support   WIll Touch support become available? WHy is there no touch support? I'm really looking forwrd to using this. - StepTrakLite review by Kasheik
Says Right There...   Unfortunately, it's only for iPhone, not iPod Touch. Not sure why. But if you download it, Apple will tell you it's not compatible with iTouch. For now 1 star until they re-jigger it for iTouchers. Would love to have it. - StepTrakLite review by macuser7
BRILLIANT!   It works. Amazing use of the accelerometer, could easily have charged for it (BUT no more than a buck). U r a moron if u can't install this, Rethink the value of your baneful existence. AND, take a walk! - StepTrakLite review by V-4vendetta
