Nice try, but... OK, so it's free. But it still takes up 9 MB of space on my iPhone and should therefore be genuinely useful. This dictionary has a limited range which, while understandable from a cost perspective, definitely limits its usefulness. Most definitions are brief but to-the-point. However, the word suggestions that appear while typing some words are positively idiotic. The worst issue I encountered with this app is that some words are defined using the word itself. Which is ludicrous. For example, the word "peevish" is not in the dictionary, but "peevishly" is. Fine, except that the definition is "in a peevish manner." Thanks a lot! Same for "surreptitious": not in the dictionary, but "surreptitiously" is. The definition is (you guessed it!) "acting in a surreptitious manner." Again, thanks for nothing! Even a free app should work sensibly within its limits. This one still needs some work.

So this is a "dictionary"? OK, it's free (ad supported), so credit where credit is due.
However, in just my first two word look-ups, I've already become very suspicious of the content of this simplistic dictionary.
For example, look up "scurrilous".
No definition for that adjective, but here is the definition of the adverb form that does appear:
scurrilously
adv-- In a scurrilously manner.
OK, first of all the DEFINITION contains a glaring usage error by using the adverb form as an adjective.
It should read "In a scurrilous manner".
But even that would be essentially useless since the adjective form does not even appear.
These adverb definitions by circular refererence to an adjective form that does not even exist in the database seems to be commonplace in this app.
Thanks for the free trial, but as is I would easily recommend the free WeDict app over this 100 to 1.

Not a good dictionary For many words it will only give the adj. form of the word in which the word is used in the definition
Ex. Ominously - in an ominous matter.
Pedanticly - in a pedantic matter.
Give us the original word!

I's free! This is a great free dictionary. The definitions are short and there's no pronunciation, but it's great for just quickly looking up a word. It's also very good at guessing what you're trying to spell. Every iPhone should have this.

Best program! I would like to thank you for creating this program which is very useful and handy. Now for all of you haters out there, if you don't like the program then delete it but DO NOT give one or two stars because these people spent lots of time creating a wonderful app for FREE and you wrote nasty reviews. I read some reviews and one person complained about how this program takes up to his 9 MB and it does nothing. One suggestion for you, either delete it or buy 16GB phone, ok.

Not bad When they say it's a 'no fluff' dictionary, they mean it. Very short definitions and NO synonyms or antonyms (that takes a lot away from it I think). The interface is a bit annoying and loses a lot of space due to large word size and...
Advertisements :(
I prefer WeDict. However they had a very large head start on development and the fact that this app has the ability to search for words based on how they sound merits holding on to it for future updates.

good start this app has a lot of potential, but for now it's a very very basic dictionary. but, all it does is define the word and give the part of speech. I think prounciation would be nice too. overall, it's a good start

Lousy app! 11-03-2008: I downloaded this with good expectations and what a let down. I tried to look up the word "asylum," and got some kind of gibberish. Don't waste your time with this even if it free. You are better off downloading the "Wikipedia," based apps for your phone if you want quick reference material.
