Maybe it's Vista, but I can't get this to work   I followed the instructions, but I can't get the drive to map successfully, which in turn makes this application useless. I'll keep trying..but it's been an hour already and I have limited patience when this kind of thing happens. And for the record, showing a different URL at every point in the instructions is confusing to me. I really have no idea what I'm supposed to be putting in.

I Wanted to Like It...   I really did want to like it. I've been looking for a very simple, straight-forward text reader for my iPod touch. Doesn't need to view fancy stuff like images, PDF's, etc. Just something that I can use to read a bunch of text files I'd like to be able to take with me. I tried Files lite and tested it with two of the files--they transferred over to my iPod fairly quickly and when I looked at them on my iPod, it was exactly what I was looking for.So I grabbed 160 files (text files, about 14 MB, well under the "lite" limit) to start and moved them over to the iPod. It took about three minutes for the data to actually start copying--Files lite appeared to be allocating files on the iPod before accepting the actual data. No problem--I can live with lengthy copy times. Then it started moving the files over. After about ten minutes, the copy was finished. Or so it seemed. I watched the status bar move on my Mac, and saw it reach the final file, for which it reported "About 5 seconds remaining". It stayed there for several minutes. Dismayed, I tried a force-quit in the Finder. The Finder wouldn't quit--I ended up having to physically turn off the computer and reboot. And the same thing happened on my iPod--Files lite had grabbed hold of the iPod and refused to release it. Hard restart there. Only this time, the iPod didn't restart properly, and it took *two* restarts to get back to functional. In the quick amount of time I'd demoed this program, it looked to be exactly what I was looking for. Too bad it didn't like having any large hunks of data thrown at it.

Better Alternative   Files Light is a good app. It has a storage limit of 200 MB tho. To have more storege, you have to get the full (Files) version which is about $7.00
"Discover" is a better alternative. It is completely free and works exactly the same way.
I would leave this review on "Files"- the full version, but I'm not going to pay for it.

Weak   Files lite is just too "lite" to be a useful tool. It's light on features and the documentation is terse. It's hard to rate a free app... I mean, the temptation is to say that "for the price," it's okay! But the fact is that ALL of the file-sharing apps on the store are incredibly cheap. I mean $5-7 for a piece of software. That's nothing. So you can't really give this app a Pass for being cheap. In comparison with the other apps in the category, I just don't see anything that stands out as exceptional in Files lite. Datacase has the advantage of having an AFP server, which for Mac users, is a small plus. Air Sharing has its syntax-highlighted source-code viewer, high-resolution image viewer, cleaner UI, and much better stability. MobileStudio has an editor. I just don't see any big wins in Files or Files lite.Update: Downgraded my rating; this app's competition is getting better fast, while Files and Files lite fall way behind. There are now over fifty different document viewer apps on the store. Files and Files lite are not even in the top ten.

Only For The Highly Educated   One of the problems in all of us is - we take it for granted others will know what we're talking about - when something we explain is so very clear in our mind. I downloaded this APP and got absolutely no where. Unless you've majored in Iphones and know a massive amount about them and all the real tech talk and application installation process - even reading the alleged step by step instructions on certain apps won't do you any good. This one is wayyyy too difficult to follow. Don't waste your time with the upgraded version unless you really know what you are doing - as even following their instructions - half the windows they say will be there - aren't. Following their instructions took me half way there but I never got to any point where I saw URL's or IP addresses. Creator of this app - you need to teach a click by click - step by step - instructions - leaving literally nothing out and stop creating APPS for all the guys who - Iphones are their thing. Iphones are not everyones thing and you may be sure - 90% of those who get this one - will have it deleted in minutes due to lack of understanding.

Why so many bad reviews? It's a GREAT app!   I'm bewildered that the avg score for this app is two stars. It does all that it should and it's doing it brilliantly!First of, I've been looking for a good, free file browser for my iPhone for some time now. I've been reading reviews and none of the avaiable programs seemed even half decent. After a while I've decided to download all file browsers from the 'Top Free Apps' category a try them myself. I must say that 'Files Lite' is a clear winner! Not only it supports the largest number of files (ie Discovery couldn't open a simple .rtf) but it's the simplest to work with and transfer files in and out and on top of that the interface looks better than in the other apps. Not by a huge deal, but I've liked it more (simple, minimalistic, but all the functions are there). So what do Files Lite do? So far I've got full support for my files in MS Word format as well as Pages (something Windows OS can't do – lol), fancy .pdf files as well as simple .rtf files and spreadsheets in Numbers (I did not checkMS Excel yet, but I think it should do all right). The text is nicely wrapped to fit the screen if it's .rtf, .doc, pages or .pdf, we can tilt the phone if we want to go 'wide-screen', and zooming works perfectly, with no delay or any other problems whatsoever. Whe we zoom the text is not wrapped of course (wrapping occurs only when we're in the deafult overview, but even then the font is big enough to read it easily) and we can pan across the document as we see fit. Also I think it's worth noting that it's the only file browser for iPhone that shows the page number [ie '2 of 14'] when viewing .pdf files in the upper left corner. I find it helpful, because it prevents me from getting lost when viewing lage documents. There is the 200MB limit but I don't think it is a problem. I don't see myself putting all the documents from my HDD to my iPhone, why would I do that? I want to keep files I might want to use as a reference at some point and maybe utilize my iPhone as a mobile storage, but that's it. And all those needs are being well served by this app. I'm amazed how many file types it supports and I can recommend it to you wholeheartedly. Try it out, seriously...

Great App   Space is limited to 200 MB, which is a hell of a lot if you're using it for office and PDF files like me. And it's free! Easy to sync files from my PC. Haven't tried AirSharing but this seems to be comparable if not the same. Check it out!

Fantastic   This is a great app. It's easy to set up and connecting is smooth with no problems. This is an incredibly hand app to me as I have a lot of documents to review and I no longer have to carry my laptop everywhere with me! My only issue is that it has problems loading powerpoint files. It is very slow to load small PP files and crashes when trying to load big ones. If this was fixed it would deserve every bit of 5 stars and would, without a doubt, be my most used app. Very well done!

A free version of a must-have app   This app is just like Air Share, but it's free. I was fortunate enough to get Air Share when it was free, but for those who didn't, this app is an excellent alternative. This app seems to load faster though. My only suggestion would be to have the ip address continously displayed and allow emailing of the stored files.

Great App, still unstable using Keynote files.   This App works great! It's a clone of AirSharing. The only issue is opening .key files, the App crashed 4 times trying to open 2 different Keynote presentations with images inside where same .key files loads faster w/o problems on AirSharing. in my tests .PDF, .Pages, .Doc, .PNG all opens just fine. Sharing and Password protection works 100%... 4 Starts.
