2 stars for not living up to potential   I really hate to do this, because I use evernote on iphone regularly. The problem is I want to use it all the time but improvement is needed!
Among other irritating design decisions,
The latest update is what has earned 2 stars from me. Evernotes "offline" viewing and syncing that so many customers have been asking for is finally here. And it is a joke. A completely useless feature at this point.
We have all been waiting. Get your act together and give us real syncing, and my rating will go way up along with your customer satisfaction.
Update:
With the "2.0" update I have lowered my rating to 1 star. This update is another unbelievable dissapointment. Not becuase the program is no good, but because evernote has been ignoring user input entirely. This update claims to improve offline access. In reality, the offline access implementation continues to be a complete joke.
This version in no way deserves a 2.0 version number. There are very few improvements, only one new feature (that users have shown no interest in)
and evernote staff shows no intention of fulfilling customer needs.

Have to be connected to wifi...   I like the app and the concept but since you have to be connected to the net to use it, it's pretty much worthless half the time on my Touch. I also don't like the idea of my notes being stored on a remote server instead of on my Touch. I don't put anything creepy on there but it just makes me a little uncomfortable. I'm removing it until there is an option to use it when not connected to wifi.

Too powerful for its own good   This app wants to do too much, and in the process falls flat on its face. It takes ages to start up. Twice it lost an hour's worth of note taking because I briefly switched to Safari. When I came back, my note didn't exist anymore. I should have saved? Well, that has its own problems: it takes a ludicrous 6 taps (or more) to get back to editing the note you were just working on. That's right, hit save, then tap 6 different buttons or fields to get back to where you were. The facility to find notes based on different searches would be nice, but the setup is clumsy and badly designed.Disappointing, in all.

Everyman's Memory   Okay, I'm becoming part of the world rave for EVERNOTE.I don't have a policy against making recommendations to my peers that will improve the quality of their personal and professional lives, but somehow, I rarely get around to it. Even when I got an iPhone 3G for my birthday last November, I didn't twitter, face, or mention it here. And I love my iPhone. But I have to talk about Evernote. It's that good. In fact, it's one of those apps that's worth buying an iPhone for."Your External Brain" is the company's catchphrase. And right they are. This app is a radical departure from the average note-taking app, e.g., Apegio's Notebook, which I like because it syncs to the net (Toodledo) and my phone, and is accessible from any computer. So is Evernote. And that's not all...Evernotes can be photos, voice, text, paste, drag and drop, or you can snatch entire web pages from the net, or just parts. Evernote has character recognition (in addition to tagging and attributes), so it will search for words you input even in pdfs and legible handwritten notes you've photographed or scanned in.This thing even has geographic search that works off the phone's gps. If I take a photo of my parking spot row sign at LAX, I can search for it by asking for all notes made within a mile of the parking lot (although I think I'd tag it "LAX").Evernote is easy to use and so versatile that I'll still be finding new uses for it next year.Oh, and did I mention that a full-service version is free. After I figured out how to use it, though, I got the guilties and signed up for the Premium account (just $5 per month) that features more storage than I'll ever use, along with high-end encryption algorithms, and a few other features.Check out the Evernote web site, the blog, the podcasts (talky, but informative), and sign up. Mac and Windows clients are available, and the Windows Mobile phones and others will handle it too. A BlackBerry app is in the works.Evernote was not designed to be a GTD (Getting Things Done by David Allen) app, but functions as a companion program to any of them. You can't make good lists of things to do if you can't remember what it was you needed to do in the first place, right? I use Evernote along with Toodledo, a task app.As a teacher or administrator, can you imagine being able to capture and catalog all the cool ideas you'd like to implement to improve student achievement? Now you can, easily.I still use my own brain, but it's getting more rest now.

Amazing   This app works amazingly. The voice notes feature is unreal. record voice notes and have them appear on your desktop 5 minutes later. there's nothing else like it.

Evernote is wonderful   Evernote is writing/journaling/databasey/notecentric/multimedia awesomeness. I'd been cobbling together things similar to Evernote for quite awhile in the form of Omnioutliner, Journler, and some other software but nothing quite worked. Evernote is the simplest most elegant solution I've found. One problem though is that it's exceptionally hard to quantify EXACTLY what you would use evernote for. A couple of examples for what I'm using it for right now:-A wine index. I wanted a place to record all the wines I'd tried. With evernote, I take a picture of the label (iphone, isight on the computer) and type the cost and what I thought of it. Evernote automatically indexes the text IN THE PHOTO of the label and makes that info searchable. Boom that info is archived and available to me via a spotlight search.-A daily writing program. I spend time on the train in the morning writing. Pretty straightforward.-A catch-all kind of drunk drawer for information. If I register for an account on some website (as every frickin new thing requires you to do these days) I clip the website to evernote and save my login/pass. Then when I can't remember what the heck the password was I pop open evernote and type BSweb20site.com and BOOM, up pops that info.Thats a couple of the things. Evernote has fairly robust tagging abilities too to make it easier for you to cross reference this kind of thing, if you choose to do it. But one of the nicer things about it is that ALL THIS INFO syncs. it's accessible through the webrowser, your phone, and any computer you install the client on.He has a free version and a pay version that is $40 a year. Pay version nets you some nice extras, including more space for syncs.Do yourself a favor and download it. Plus watch the video he has. Does a better explanation of explaining the service than I did.

Works OK on Touch   Works OK, but has two main pitfalls: Can't edit notes once submitted, and, more importantly, the notes are not stored locally, limiting it's use on the Touch.

Like It, Don't Love It   OK, here's the deal. I love Evernote, and use it on both my Mac and PC, and I thought the Evernote webapp was alright. I was hoping for the ability to edit notes, for example. But I have little doubt that future versions will address these issues.

Love this!   I am new to Evernote so I was very pleased with this app. I signed up for a free account, downloaded the free desktop app and downloaded the iphone app. I am completely addicted. Evernote is like to-dos and notes on steroids. Being able to access my account and view my notes from my phone, computer and the web is incredible - very much like a free missing feature in a mobileme account. I've seen people complain about not being able to edit notes via the phone but so far that hasn't been an issue for me. I enjoy the ability to take notes from the phone and I edit them if need be the next time I'm at my computer. I highly suggest using evernote and downloading this app!

Cool Application on its own and interacts with the desktop version   One cool thing about the iTunes Application store, is that in searching the offerings here, I am becoming aware of some great programs that are also available for the MAC desktop.Evernote is one of those. The full featured application that can be downloaded for desktop is amazing. The iPhone version is somewhat less featured, but adds things such as text, voice and photo notes that were not available previously PLUS it interacts and gives access to the "notebooks" you save on your Evernote desktop version. There is no set rule to how you use this application, but play around with it and you will find that it becomes one of your favorites. There are many applications that charge money and disappoint...Evernote is an application that is FREE and you wouldn't mind paying for!

Perfect   This app is should be the model for what iPhone apps should look and function like. It's beautiful, intuitive and all-around a perfect implementation of Evernote for the iPhone.

Very pleased   I'm giving this 5 out of 5 because they have just announced a feature that will make this app perfect...editing! Forget all of those task managers and text notepads, this does it all and syncs it all online for you to be accessed anywhere. A brilliant idea.

Just for capture   This might be a great tool for capturing information. The tiny font make is completely unuseable for reading your notes, though. The web app is much better in this respect. I'd rather not bother and wait for the next release.

Very Nice!   I used to use the multi-step process of taking pictures and then emailing them to my Evernote account, but this app has built-in compatibility with the iPhone's camera. The search for existing notes is very nice as well.

Good start, waiting for update   I am in love with this company, so this was one of the first apps I got. It has cool features but the polish isn't yet what I expect from evernote. I'm sure it'll be there very soon and I'll be first in line to grab it.

Evolving app   Evernote is not perfect, but at least it is getting better. The 1.01 update has fixed pending note, and viewing note issues I used to have. Evernote makes archiving thoughts, webpages, images, etc easier then any other program I have used.

Buggy   This program is still VERY buggy. All of the photo notes I've created with this program are permanently "pending" and won't sync, and can't be searched. Recommend waiting for the next update of this app before downloading.

Buggy   I am unable to sync my notes to the server. Ok maybe they've been overwhelmed by all the new users, but that's a problem. I can't edit the new notes I've created. When I create a new note the top line is clipped off in the editor. I can't scroll down to see the tops of the letters. This is a major bug.If you first launch the program and say you have an account but you don't get the log in right I got stuck in a loop where I couldn't start a new account or fix the problem.Evernote needs to do more work on this app and guarantee improved reliability of their servers.
