WritePad raises the bar!   As a former Palm Treo user, I was saddened to see Grafitti go in favor of the keyboard for text entry on that platform. Now, WritePad improves upon that functionality by allowing users of the iPhone/iPod Touch to write on the screen using almost any kinds of letters, not only a set of "approved" recognizable strokes. The potential is enormous. I, too, hope that Apple will take notice and purchase (not merely appropriate) this technology for further development and include it as yet another text-entry option in addition to the virtual keyboard in a future iPhone/iPod Touch Operating System release. Good work. It recognizes my input - even in sentences nearly flawlessly with alternatives option on for minor corrections. The correct/incorrect choice pop-up needs to be relocatable in order to be able to say OK to longer entry strings of words or sentences. I'm impressed by the implementation, although I realize the learning curve for the strokes for editing and correction may deter some users at first. Keep at it. This a worthwhile addition to the iPhone's bag of tricks! - WritePad review by GerryWeiss
Suggestions   I'm a longtime Palm/Grafiti user. When the original single stroke Grafiti - because of a lawsuit - was replaced by the more realistic, but much slower and inefficient, multi stroke version; I used TealScript. It enabled me to create my own custom alphabet, so I was back to single stroke and happy again. I know most users don't mind the multi stroke alphabet. But perhaps for the few of us who crave efficiency, you could add an option to customize. Also, the backspace, forward space, and return strokes can get pretty cumbersome - in my opinion. Maybe you could add three itty-bitty keyboard-like keys to the bottom of the screen as an alternative option. Regardless of my personal preferences, it's nice to see that somebody is developing a character recognition program. - WritePad review by key44up
Great application   Gear application, just read the instructions to ease off. To the people that are whining, please stop with the nonsense. - WritePad review by -kraiz-
Works great with my (pogo Stylus) Version 1.1   Again, contrary to what Steve Jobs says, a Stylus is very necessary for certain apps. Now, you could use your fingers, but I guarantee you won't get the speed our accuracy from any of the writing/sketching/painting apps that I get with my trusty pogo Stylus.Fantastic app. Thank You Mr. Stan Miasnikov - WritePad review by Fever Pitch
Nifty app   This app is pretty cool. It's a good display of what the iPhone and iPod Touch can do as far as handwriting recognition goes. I'd say it's worth trying, especially since it's free. The ability to email documents made with it just makes it that much better. - WritePad review by Karu Takahashi
Okay App   Don't get me wrong I love this app, but I wish you could send the notes to the Notepad App. This would make life much easier. - WritePad review by flamej
Very promising !   Great little app for text entry, but some minor issues to be ironed out. I liked the "anchor-drag-select" - clean and easy. It would be great if it had drag and drop of selected text. Handwriting recognition is above average for cursive writingThanks - WritePad review by sparkyfeb99
Awesome Recognition   I am totally impressed with the character recognition. The accuracy is much greater than on my old Treo. However, I am having great difficulty in performing the gestures. I finally mastered select all, but that's all I have been able to accomplish! It is very frustrating to say the least. I look so forward to future updates that will allow multiple documents and the ability to save them. I like the idea of having buttons in addition to gestures for backspace, space, and return, for those of us who are gesture challenged. I would also like to see the ability to format text. Anyway, great start and I really look forward to the next level. Thanks and keep up the good work! - WritePad review by rcbalive
Almost good   It needs a backspace key. I usally write a word wrong so I need a backspace to quicken the speed of this thing - WritePad review by Lazy surf chick
Great idea   Bulky and slow. I love the idea but there are problems but I love using it. - WritePad review by bdh216
Useful when hands are full   Ideal, because a lot of times I have a kid (18 mo) in one arm and it's easier to scribble something than to use a keyboard. Writing notes to myself, etc. (A voice recorder would be better but I have an iPod Touch, not an iPhone.) Doesn't do a perfect job at deciphering my handwriting (it's pretty legible) but I can already see improvements over time. - WritePad review by DenisePhilly
Good concept, but...   The concept of this app is good, and it performs as advertised. However, I found that I can't really use the app in a useful manor. I am not going to delete it yet, but I will soon if I can't figure out how to take advantage of this app's claims. - WritePad review by JoKewL
Awesome app   Amazingly accurate and fast. Already used it to tale notes in one meeting. Hopefully there will soon be an inexpensive paid version with more features like multiple pages. All around one of the best I've downloaded so far. (If only I could have used it to write this review.) - WritePad review by Hinthorn
what about text messages???   i love it but it should work for text messages too! - WritePad review by IPHONE LOVER#1
worst app ever   i would rate this app zero if i could because it is so bad the game crashes alot is and you cant use it because it is only a demo. - WritePad review by writepadsucks
Last app needed to replace my Palm TX   This app has great potential. I've found writing words with both the 'auto learner' and the 'spell checker' settings very useful. I'm still having difficulty in getting the software to recognize my handwriting, but still working with it. I feel like I'm missing something, but need to play more to see if it's user error. I think I'm getting the 'return character correctly', but I would really like an actual return (new line) instead. I'm able to get the 'backspace' 'space character' to work without problem. I also like the keyboard option; it serves it's purpose well. - WritePad review by SidCid
Great!   Near perfection. Only suggestion is to have more shortcuts on the bottom of the screen (e.g., backspace, return, so it is more compatible with keyboard similarities, requiring less of a learning curve (for those like some of the previous reviewers who couldn't even figure out how to get passed the instruction page. - WritePad review by Need Zen
Can't wait for final version!   This application has great possibility, when will the finished become available? - WritePad review by Babyboomer22
Very good HWR   Very good handwriting recognition. Good for taking notes and for composing email without a keyboard! - WritePad review by Horses Behind
